Hmm. Grey Knights.

While I do think that Grey Knights are due to be redone, as they have not had a new codex in about 7 years - 5th Edition only has 6 codexes, and only two of them (Tyranids and Dark Eldar) are non Imperial. Out of the 6 released codexes, three of them are Space Marines... (Vanilla Space Marines, Viking Space Marines and Vampire Space Marines)...

Doing Grey Knights now would put the number of power-armor v5 codexes to 4/7 and the Imperial codexes at 5/7. I think the Xenos badly need some love! Necrons is currently the oldest codex at 8 years, now that Dark Eldar has been redone. On an aside, IMHO, since GW insists on the Eldar codex being a huge mass of special rules and exceptions to core rules - this codex should be redone within the first four books EVERY edition, since even minor tweaks to the core rules has a tendency to invalidate what tenuous balance was there to begin with.

And not coincidentally, Space Marines of one kind or another are the best selling model range(s) and GW is a publicly traded for-profit corporation. Funny how that works. But seriously, how many times are forum users going to point out that Space Marines get more production resources than other model ranges? We know, we know. Moving right along...

I just wish the Dark Angels or Chaos Marines would get the treatment that the Space Wolves, Codex Marines, Blood Angels and now Grey Knights are going to get! But that won't stop me from collecting some cool new Grey Knights models. By then, my Ork army should be pretty well completed and maybe some other stuff too.

Can't blame them. If I wanted/was part of the xenos, I'd be kind of annoyed that I get little attention compared to the Space Marine chapters....luckily, I'm not though

I have tons of models that aren't Space Marines, as well as tons that are, but I don't waste my time and others complaining about the obvious. Space Marines are popular and get a lot of releases. It's neither news nor rumor. So yes I do blame them. All the world's problems are caused by whining about too many Space Marines releases.

I think anyone that actually cares has a subscription to the GW newsletter. I don't see why this was posted. Meh.

I like the way the GK look but don't think GW should have bothered with them. They're just another SM army with shiny armour. Thats business I guess? Include them in another SM codex.

If GW spent as much time on the non SM armies they would be awesome, the game would be awesome.

Anyway, hope they turn out better then the other SM armies. They're the only SM's I like the look of.

You kidding? I had a dream several months back I was holding the Necron codex. It was ornate looking, beautiful plastic lord kit kit bashed on the inside cover, such wonderful and easily understandable rules and a model for every choice pretty much.

I woke up and I had tears in my eyes. A man can dream...a man can dream.

But yes, kudos to the GK for their long awaited update. Now about those other 3rd ed books needing a desperate update

So you say that armies should be updated on a "but what about us?" basis, and not a "because it's unusable" basis?

I would argue that they should be updated from a "if it's not broke..." point of view. Not sure if you've ever actually looked at them, but Demonhunters is pretty unusable right now. Most anything that actually pertains to their specialty (hunting daemons) doesn't actually work, and fielding an entire Grey Knight army is all but impossible. Really the only semi competitive build for them I'm aware of is to spam IST in rhinos with meltas/plasma, and even then, the IG do it better for less.

As far as Eldar go, they're not so broken they're unusable. Worst thing I can think of that you have to deal with is that Eldrich Storm scatters. Oh, and that you can lose your passengers moving flat out into terrain. That's a big one for our local Eldar player. I've only actually ran them myself one or twice though, so I wouldn't say I've read over the entire codex. Really if anything, this HELPS you, because this will close the Mystic/Inquisitor loophole and remove one more source of unlimited range Psychic Hoods.

At least the 4th edition Xenos have a chance. I will agree that Necrons need an update though.

That's not true.

Some people don't like to hear about everything from Games Workshop, so receiving the newsletter
isn't really all that appealing. But we do like the Grey Knights.

Oh yes.

Sure, but the thing is that my warhammer dreams has came true before. I dreamt once I was putting together plastic juggernauts, only a few days before they were proclaimed!

Also, give GW some slack; yes this could've been handled better, but it's still an improvement over the usual Incoming! stuff.

If we can't have any new model pictures, could we at least have a preview of the Codex cover as a wallpaper or something? even Black Library manages that much.

Did most of the other "Incoming!" email announcements have any more content than this one? Noooo....so why do complaints about this continue? We all know how these announcements work at this point after many months of receiving them, no use repeating the same complaints every time. At this point my question is, how long does something have to be repeated before Warhammer fans catch on to how it works? Please don't answer, it's a rhetorical question with a very disappointing answer I'm afraid. LOL.

Brass Scorpions pretty much right IMHO.

Yes, we don't like how the system works or that they don't give us any details, but it's arguably still more (and earlier) than the usual Incoming! emails.
Doesn't mean people won't complain though, and there's nothing you can do to stop them Brass.

The point is they post Incoming! articles with a little bit of fluff and no substance, at least this time they gave a date but there is this magical thing called "Marketing" and many people think that it would help their "Marketing" if they at least previewed one model to get people excited about it

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there hasn't been an 'Incoming' for the Orks and Gobbo's yet, but they're expected to be arriving earlier than Grey Knights? That seems a bit odd to me...
Also, 3 months is much earlier than GW usually reveals the incoming goodies IMO.
What gives?

If there were 15 factions of Tau, and each one of them had an army book updated before anyone else for the last 3 editions of the game, and each was more flavorful and potent than the last... then Tau would be "the most popular army." This notion of "GW supports what is popular" goes the other way as well. GW support MAKES things popular.

Good news. This is the best time in the hobby. Full of promise. GW lets us down each time and we know it but secretly we're hoping that this is the edition that GW gives us a balanced game that can also be played competitively at tournaments. I'm loving it.

So GW announce the first 40K army and Codex release of 2011, a new range of plastic models, finally end the rumours of an Inquisition combi-dex, potentially bring about the end of the devastating 'leaf-blower' Imperial Guard army build AND give us a specific release date...

i really really didn't want to see yet another space marine army coming out.... I really do feel like this is just another example of GW's faltering mindset on 40k and its continual confirmation of it becoming financialy set on space marines (yeah its not new but its continuing trend is still not welcome) which i shall continue to bemoan this till gw ends.

The Imperium of Man is able to traverse the Warp with difficulty when their Emperor concentrates from his golden life support machine and lights the way. Unfortunately, because the Emperor has the attention span of the average 5-year-old Pokemon fanboy, this means that many an unfortunate Imperial ship has had the WTF WHERE'D THE LIGHTS GO experience, which in the Warp is invariably fatal.

Can we agree that it's an improvement but not yet at the level we can/should expect?

I mean FFG is a much smaller company but they have their GK book listed on Amazon with a price, a date, a cover image and a blurb about what is in it.

GW used a 8 year old image and told us something was coming, no details.

FFG's book is now in my Amazon cart and I'm ready to buy it. GW's stuff... not so much.
