Although most just know it as "Warhammer" or "40k".
Some call it "That model army thing..."

None of my friends know.
My family call it warhammer, but my sister probably says other stuff behind my back.
But hell, I enjoy it, so haters can go boil their heads.

My brother calls it, Nerd-Da-Nerd-Nerd-Nerd.....

My girlfriend is pretty mean she calls it "stupid F***ing models" and has banned me from playing in the house even though I don't really play in the house any way, my boss calls it soldiers when I head to the club or games night straight from work. Often people at work see me with my figure case and ask what's in it they never believe me when I say toy soldiers.

Friends?? I think I need to get out more...

Parents: Warhammer
Friends: "..." (It's never brought up as their vidya games and Hellsing are ohhh sooo important)
Ex: "..." (Also was never brought up even though she knew I did it)

Donghammer, Plastic Toys, Plastic S**t, Log Jammer 40k. You have to imagine these names being said in the most 5 yr old condescending voice also.

My fiance calls it warhammers. I've trained her properly. But she calls the guys at the store warhams or neckbeards. I also taught her that. lol.

I have never had to bring up my hobby around my non gamer friends. Generally we/they are fine to talk about football/F1/Gettin' Mad Wee'it! for the whole time. Luckily they all enjoy movies and tv so it's not that i'm a masochist. I just don't think it would interest most my friends, if they see my models they usually say 'that's pretty cool' and leave it at that.

I'ts quite ironic in that i often try and stay on top of sports news even though i am not particularly interested. All to keep up and not make them feel they are talking AT me and not WITH me.

Dude, you need to upgrade your girlfriend. Or invest in something whip resistant.

Both friends and my girlfriend refer to them as "models" or "toy soldiers". One Christmas when her grandfather asked if I had any hobbies, she piped up and said I was into "28mm scale wargaming". Did me proud, she did.

Perhaps you should take that as a sign to form a new friend crew. Maybe one based on your interest in the hobby.

I don't really have many friends that know of my hobby, I tend to keep away from that topic just in case I get even more hated than I already am. Tell one person, they all find out at school.

I like to think i'm quite considerate about that kind of thing, i never want someone to feel they are boring me, i like to show genuine interest in what people have to say. Anyway sport always has good setups for Lulz so it aint that bad.

All of my friends know how to play, but haven't admitted it too each other. I am the only one in my school who is open about the hobby haha.

As a matter of fact, they have all said that if the hobby didn't cost so much, they'd play.

Little plastic guys is what I hear from the family. To my pets, it's " lets flip over the box LOL!"

My roomies call it "my little gnomes".

My roommate from college always called it "little f***ers" (and still does).

"You goin to play little f***ers?"
"Yeah, I'll meet you at the bar later."
"Ok."

I once helped him install new kitchen counters. I cut a perfectly-fit sink hole out of 2" butcher-block counter tops with a jigsaw, freehand. He looks in amazement, says, "Holy s**t, how'd you get that so perfect? OH! IT'S CAUSE YOU DO THOSE LITTLE F***ERS!"

He said it with sincere admiration, but I can't say it was exactly a well-worded compliment.

But its all in good fun.

My gf simply refers to it as me being nerdy. most of my other friends also game or dont know about it. in fact my gf has painted all the models i have painted. except the priming which i did.

My girlfriend and her family call it "your little war dudes". They know the true name, but it's just stuck.

Though my partner refers to it as Plasticrack... even she is hooked on daemonettes.
