Newly qualified teachers in the UK don't make huge money though, so it's not easy. Especially with rent being so high in Essex.

Ahh, an Essex-Boy.... I used to live in Rainham, the borderlands with East London....at least that's what I called that area....of course, that does make Dagenham something of a no-mans-land....which I guess is what it is.

Where abouts in Essex are you? I didn't think the cost of living was so dear down there?

I'm Irish originally
I nearly took a job in Dagenham, glad I didn't. When your claim to fame is the UK's biggest council estate...

I'm in Southend on Sea, and it's not massively dear, but I also don't think I'm getting my money's worth, despite shopping around a good bit for my flat. It'd be cheaper up north!

Generally I've got roughly $50 of 'fun money' for 40k or eating out. Sadly, this month I've only got $25 so I can't afford any warhammer this month. Then again I said I'd get the model pile painted prior to buying more so it just reinforces the vow I suppose.

At present I have my expenses pretty much under control, because I force myself to paint everything before buying new stuff. Now the dark days before this time, ah we try not to speak of those anymore . . . .

Depends how drunk I am when I log into Ebay/Maelstrom/BarterTown...

I think in the last 2 years I have spent about $20k on wargaming armies and collectibles.

Broken down into months, its roughly US$50. However I tend to buy bi-monthly since I'm a bit of a treadhead and vehicles tend to cost more. Special rule to this is Post-Deployment Splurge: After amount set for car payment and retirement fund has been satisfied, remaining cash can and probably shall be used to buy overprice plastic models.

Averaged over the year probably 80 US a month, around 1000 US a year. That includes tournament entry fees, paints, carrying cases, etc as well as models... I'm trying to do 2 armies per year at that budget and go to 12 local as well as 2 larger tournaments. If the beer consumed during said gaming is factored in then I will have to refrain from commenting further...

At present I budget for £50 per month, but in reallity its more like £60 month. However I also add some cheaky purchases for modeling supplies and paint for another £10 -£15 (not allways though). That said I am only spending this mutch currently because a want more playable armies. I just have two more batches and I will have two 40K Armies and 1 fantasy.

Once I have these I will slow down completely and only maybe get 1 kit a month for £20 -£30 to add little tweaks to my armies (thats what i'm telling the misses anyway.)

Me too, exactly. Unfortunately, right now gas is taking a big ol' chunk, so fundage for fun stuff is much less.

Set aside?, chance would be a fine thing. A more realistic question for me would be how much money do I convince the wife to let me spend, or spend when she's not looking

I don't set aside anything. If I want something I buy it. Wargaming really is one of the cheaper hobbies.

I am like this too. My initial purchase was AoBR. Then I bought a battleforce and everything I thought I would need in 1 go. If there are things I need later on, I just pick them up. If I had to average it out over the entire course of my 40K career, I would say it comes out to about $100 a month.
