I own three NESs I don't particularly like playing them though. The feedback and reaction time is horrible. I'm glad they fixed that when they re-made some of the better games (like SMB and Zelda).

Yea I now own 3 origianls I just recently got into repairing and such with them. Its surprisingly easy, and Im also learning electrical diagrams and all that wizardry. Im really thinking about buying a Konami Justifier for my FC TWIN if that gets here and works right. I think it would be great blasting ducks from duck hunt with a bigass Rodger Rabbit style revolver

I used to own an actual cartridge of Earthbound. That's a pretty expensive game as well. Very fun though, if you like RPGs.
You said the Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed some of your favorite games? Like what, Simon's quest? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? I guess that makes sense.

What really sparked it was his review of Monster Party. I used to play that game like crazy when I was a kid. Its kindda morbid yet toally geared towards children. Just a fun game of weird gak

Just found this website: http://www.bestoldgames.net/eng/arcade.php
awesome blase from the past - currently playing civilisation 2 (but it seems to crash, trying to find patch) and warcraft 2. I thought it fitted into this thread nicely
Edit: WINDOWS 7 doesn't compute with the majority of these games

Really? I should look into that. I have an actual interest in repairing things, and a NES is a nice way to start... Two of them are totally beyond working The light turns on, so it's not a power thing, so I guess I could repair them... Any pointers?
By the way, KC. Do you need one of these?
Or a zapper? I have two of each, so I could trade them to you if you like

Fixing the NES
Ok so you put a game ( one you know works) into the NES and power it up. What happens exactly? Does the power light flash? Or is it constant but only shows blank screen/colors/the like?
Most the time the problems with an NES are the 72 pin wearing out. Thats the thing your game slides into inside the console. Its pretty easy to do a quick repair on it to see if thats the problem.
A small Philips screw driver and 6 screws on the bottom and you can split the console in half.
After that, you need to take the metal covering off. Its like 4 to 6 screws and pops right off. Then you can take off the the plastic doohickey (yes thats a technical term) that you push the game down with. 4 screws and that comes out. Itll take a little wigglying but it comes out
Then take all the screws out of the circuit board, again its like 6 screws. Once the screws are finally out of the way, you pull up a little bit on the circuit board and start to wiggle/pry the 72 pin out. Itll be tough because its been in there since the system was put together. But it will finally come off.
Now all you do is the contacts the actual game touches youll want to re bend back up. They just lose their spring from having games shoved in there a million times. I used a really small screw driver, but I saw a guy use a pin with a hook he made to do this. Itll take a few minutes to rebend them all, just dont go crazy or youll pop the pins out of their spot and its annoying pushing them back in.
Once you bend all those pins back up, reassemble you system and give it a shot. Itll be harder to shove your game back in but thats a good thing, it lets you know the contacts are doing their thing. MAke sure though, you clean the gold on your NES game first. Ive heard people say to use rubbing alcohol, and some swear not to. I just use hot soapy water and depending on how dirty the game is, 2 to 15 qtips. Make sure its dry before putting it in the NES. That usually fixes the problem. If it plays, or shows the game and whatnot, then you know for sure its the 72pin that went bad. And those are a whopping $5 on ebay. Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh yea, no I dont really need that controller or a zapper. I got my new FCTWIN today and it works like a charm. So I decided Im going to buy a Konami Justifier for my zapper. They are friggin cool looking
 take THAT you foul ducks!

I noticed quite a few people mention my favourite game of all time, River City Ransom. How about "Crash 'n the Boys" and "Super Dodgeball"? I loved all of those Technos games.

Got the controllers today in the mail. Seriously that guy most of shipped them super direct They work fantastically. I think tomorrow (both kids are gone, how lucky am I?) Ill work on both of my NES consoles. Ill try and super clean the pins on both. The one I messed with the other day still flashes pretty good at times, so maybe the pins are corroded and I didnt see it. Guess its time to soak them puppies in some La's Totally awesome for a few hours and while they are doing that, Ill give the boards and such a nice scrubbin
Ill keep everyone informed

You should see if you can find a copy of "Crash 'n the Boys". Same style of graphics as the other two games. The best way to describe the game is to think of it as some form of street olympics between various gangs.
Here's a review from IGN:

This has probably already been said, but The Legend of Zelda. I've been playing it on my gameboy advance, but now that I have a working NES, I really want to pick it up. They're kind of expensive though. The cheapest one I saw was about 10 dollars (with no bids)..... I suppose it would be worth the money though.

Yea I was shocked to see the price on some games on Ebay. Im trying to get my hands on a n64 and looked around for a 007 game for one, and I saw some going for $20.....20 bucks for one of the most bought video games ever made. And like I said, I was surprised to get Final Fantasy for $10, I saw alot of them going for 15+ and that game is as old as I am ok.... not as old but sorta close
