Why do people always seem to reference the elder? If they were so foreseeing and smart they would of:
A. Seen there own downfall and not be nearly extinct
B. Not medle in so many other races business bcos they must get cut apart well if Dawn of War or some other fluff is to go by!

A. Their farseeing isn't reliable to predict exact events and their times.
B. No, they don't.

A. They did see it, so alot of them flew off, thats the only reason there's still some left
B. They don't meddle unless by some weird twist of fate it affects them in the future
ie. Farseer sees guardsmen get promoted to lead future army against eldar, eldar send a ranger to kill the guardsmen, so they boycott an entire war.

OT, the eldar have seen the downfall of the universe, and the final battle is said to be between chaos and eldar, which destroys the universe and the warp, so no more of anything

The Eldars final battle is said to be between Slaanesh not all of Chaos. Ynnead is the Eldar God of the Dead and it represents the last hope of the dwindling Eldar race

there are 4 more gods

Gork, Mork and anyone else could win in a fight with Chaos!
so...
1) if the Eldar can Resurrect Kaela Mensha Khaine
2) if the Iimperium can restore the Emperor
3) Malal is the 5th God of Choas. He is the Chaos god of Anarchy and is an enemy of Chaos

*note: neither Isha ( the goddess of fertility ) or Cegorach ( the Laughing God ) will ever fight

all ur base are belong to da

all the armies i used to beat b4 6ed

I personally think SM's will win the war, if anyone will. Heh, they're not the very best fighting force, but look at the fluff! They take back most things that they lose against all odds, (eg: planets, star systems, etc, that many races have taken from them.) and in all honesty, all they need to do is wait it out until the Emperor somehow recovers . In short, I don't want SM's to win, but I think they will. However, I'm obviously new to WH, so if anything I said was wrong, sorry! O.o

You have a point. To destroy Chaos, you must destroy the warp, and if you do that, it will make a lot of problems for people. For example, Eldrad would become just a guy with a stick

When has Isha ever really contributed to a fight in 40k?

All I can really recall of her in the fluff is that she was captured and tortured by Khaine, then she was captured and tortured by Slaanesh, then she was captured (From Slaanesh) and tortured by Nurgle, though at least Nurgle loves her, and his "torture" comes in the form of wonderful diseases and contagions. Well, and she does cure many of Nurgle's diseases for her children in the Materium.

As for Cegorach, the way he works, if he has to physically fight himself, he has already done something wrong. Though, I suppose it is entirely possible that once Ynnead is born, Cegorach could see it advantageous to confront and combat Slaanesh himself, along with Ynnead.

I admit what I have said above may not be entirely correct, I am fairly newish to 40k, and would not consider myself particularly knowledgable about Eldar fluff/mythology.

As for the topic, it depends.

Chaos could win, but I sorta doubt it. Chaos is inherently self-defeating, the Gods are not unified, and arguably oppose eachother more than they do the Materium. Their servants are not always willing to cooperate either. It does not help that Abaddon is essentially the leader of Chaos' servants.

Tyranids are also a possible choice, they have vast numbers, and are backed by a powerful Hive Mind that directs their actions.

Orkz as well, due to not merely incredible numbers, but were the Orkz to unify, they would likely be unstoppable. The collective Ork psychic power formed Gork and Mork, beings greater than the Chaos Gods, imagine all that power directed to one single purpose: "Stompin' da 'ooniverse flat an' killin' anyfing dat foits back WAAAGH!"

As for the Necrons, they could win as well. The C'tan returning to full power would be bad for the galaxy, in the Materium, the supremacy of the C'tan would be unquestioned, entire systems would disappear. The Necrons are also not fully awake. But truly, the best chance for Necrons "winning" is if the C'tan truly manage to sever the Immaterium from the Materium completely. That would be it, the souls and emotions of the denizens of the galaxy reside in the Warp, and with them severed and Chaos destroyed, the galaxy would be rendered soulless cattle to the C'tan. Contrary to popular belief, "souls" per say are not explicitly what the C'tan feed on, at least not in any of the background material I have read, it is more of a vaguely defined "life energy" that they gorge on. Now, you could argue that is essentially the same thing, and admittedly I think this should be a little more fleshed out to eliminate confusion. But C'tan have no power over the Warp, so they have none over souls either, at least as far as I understand it. Though they can eat emotions, most notably gibbering terror, as the Nightbringer has been known to feed on. Hm... I wonder if it is possible that the C'tan, despite not being able to directly influence the Warp, can feed on some of its energies, and due to it being something so strange and unusual to them, that is why it is so appealing? Or something, I have largely drifted off-topic in my own insane ramblings.

Yeah, IMO, those four have the best shot, though I am admittedly biased for the Necrons in particular.

I don't exactly understand how anyone's so sure that the current, nigh-unstoppable batch of Tyranids the Imperium's encountered so far is just the tip of the iceberg, and that there's a galaxy-sized invasion force on the way. How can they know?

Nobody's really too sure what's outside the galaxy. There have been no extragalactic witnesses with statements like "There are uncounted trillions of Tyranids on the way!" And if this was all arrived at through logical deduction, remember that the Imperium does not collect, collate, and assess data very well. This is the same Administratum that regularly sends regiments of Imperial Guard to fight in wars that ended centuries ago.

I'm not saying the Tyranids aren't a massive threat -- clearly they are. But unless someone has for-sure tapped into the Hive Mind and stayed sane enough to talk about it, there's really no way of knowing how many of them are out there.

One thing's certain -- the Imperium is slowly being whittled away. They can stay as they are for another millenium or two, but unless there's a big game-changer (the lost Primarchs come back, the Emperor wakes up/resurrects as Star God), then our umpteen-great grandchildren are doomed.

Well i believe the imperium will win. the reasons are:

1) The black templars are unstoppable, they get shot they charge forward.
2)if what spacemarine lovers say about space marnes is true(you know the movie marine rules)they will own all with the help of the imperial guard.
3)there is countless trillions of imperial guard along with the countless trillions of planetary guard(imperial guard are the elite of the planetary guard)

Then how can tyranids kil us all with countless trillions of tyranids, after all we have space marines.

Commander Shepard: Well, I care deeply about the quarian people.

Also doing that would render imperial and sm travel useless (the warp is their autobahn) so reinforcements aren't a'comin
