Ok if we are talking about justtime painting and not waiting for stuff to dry i would say about 5-15 minutes depending on the mini/detail I can paint ork boyz in my sleep.

That being said my minis are prolly below par compared to you guys who spend 4 hours on a mini but tbh they are just gaming pieces to me aslong as they are built and have the mandatory 3 colors, basing and a wash then thats good enuff for me as I only do it for tournaments.

Damn I cant wait to the GW legal team codex comes out now there is a dex that will conquer all.

For basic troops, I'd say up to an hour per mini not counting drying time for primer or layers of matte spray. I almost always paint in batches though, so that speeds things up considerably.

My standard is tabletop standard and is done as follows
1 Prime: Gesso or spray paint
2 Block colors
3 Dip (brushed on Minwax polyshades, very neatly applied and excess removed)
4 Paint Eyes and drybrush hair/fur
5 Matte Spray
6 Basing

Here's a couple of examples of my two most recent projects painted exaclty as above.

The Gladiators might have taken a smidgen over an hour as I was experimenting a bit and they have lots of detail. On the other hand, I'm working on some vintage 27mm Ventaurans figures right now. They are mostly in plain armor and I'm painting 16 of them in one go. They'll probably average out to about 30 minutes each!

This...... i don't think ive ever gotten a model to "finished"

just like i have a propensity to get to the very end level of a video game and then lose interest....

EDIT: I'm talking about a basic troop.

The more figures being done at the same time the more efficient my time is spent. The Dogs of War regiments I've painted each took a several hours a night for over a week so it works out at 1-2 hours per figure but it's still 12-15 hours for a small unit.

Character figures takes much longer, probably several hours each, my Marco Colombo took easily over 6 hours.

If each individual foot figure took 6 hours as this poll suggests by some then a 15 man unit would be 90 hours work, or 3 hours a night for a month, for a single unit. I can't believe people spend that time on a bog standard infantry unit unless they are going for a golden demon. That is ludicrously slow, sorry.
