I just think TXDPS spending $600,000 on one boat and saying they will buy 12 of them is ridiculous and have been waiting for the right time to unleash it...it seemed to fit this one. Considering OMB is threatening to take the Coast Guards cutters away...stupid. It would probably be the CG not the navy that got the first shots in BTW.

Its not in their interest to do that. If there is combat it means Iran has shut off the Gulf. China needs that oil even more than we do.

Russia no, but Russia has no interest in a playing the exciting game of Global Thermonuclear War over Iran.

Frankly I don't get the brinkmanship. Odds increase dramatically of it getting out of hand for Iran if they try to shut the Gulf. Is the regime going to maintain power after their navy is now their involutnary submarine fleet? If they start lobbing missiles (likely) we'll start shooting those sights. How does it positively impact the regime's ability to stay in power to have the guys who are frankly what 5-0 in air wars going for #6?

hey c'mon. the Holy Iran openly declares themself a bane to U.S.A. and their acquaintances. but never says that Russia or China being a bane. instead the The Holy 'Church' of Iran has a high opinions towards the eastern bloc, that might imply that Iran may be a vassal to either China or Russia. or both!
i believe that they're so desparetely needs to eliminate anyone who deemed as 'vile heretic, heathen, devil worshippers, the unholy nations'. but in order to acheve that. they need anyone with a likemind to fight with them.
Initially Gaddhafi was an active advocate to this 'Holy Nation' and wants the whole Palevi clan being guillotined (by the Iranian Inquisiton), but soon the Holy Iran and Shia muslims turned against him. due to an incident during the 80s. by then. Iran felt they need someone more trustworthy to help them fight in the upcoming crusade.

I'm not sure where you get your information but a lot of it is sounding like... well the technical term is crazy talk.
Russia has no reason to start a war with the US as far as i'm aware.
China could probably find reasons but frankly why would they bother? Apart from the Korean war they have shown fairly little aggressive behaviour towards any western state, they have become more open than they used to be... though not by massive amounts.

Both China and Russia are rivals to the U.S. of America.
if both superpowers see nothing good fighting war on behalf of this aggressive vassallage. what else will the two do to help Iran? (or to prevent the bloodshed while they can) or won't they help?

You could also say that in some cases the UK is as well.
Maybe even the EU in some cases...

I don't know why you seem to have a fervent belief that Iran is a vassal of China and/or Russia...
They may have been a tool in a proxy war at one point but AFAIK they aren't anymore.

If you say that Russia and China needs Iranian oil, then they'll do anything to prevent the invasion so they can keep those rigs to work for them. surely China and Russia won't suck those oils for free. if money is not the only things China and Russia gave to Iran in exchange of oil. what else? and will it include 'protection' ?

Its not crazy, I think just a 2nd language version of English. Substitute "client state" for "vassal" and its a better discussion.

China? Really, the economic meltdown caused by a US China confrontation cuts both ways.

Iran won't shut the gulf down either. Economically it would impact them far worse than the sanctions have and get them bombed to boot.

An Iranian university professor working at a key nuclear facility was killed today by a car bomb, a semi-official news agency reported.

The explosion killed Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan, a chemistry expert and a director of the Natanz uranium enrichment facility in central Iran, the Fars agency said.

Two assailants on a motorcycle attached magnetic bombs to Mr Roshan's car, killing him and wounding two others in the Iranian capital.

The attack in Tehran strongly resembles earlier killings of scientists working on the country's controversial nuclear programme.

The killing of Mr Roshan was similar to previous assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists that Tehran has blamed on Israel and the United States. Both countries have denied the accusations.

Mr Roshan, 32, was inside the Iranian-assembled Peugeot 405 car with two others when the bomb exploded near Gol Nabi Street in north Tehran, Fars said.

Fars described the explosion as a "terrorist attack" targeting Mr Roshan, a graduate of the prestigious Sharif University of Technology in Tehran.

A similar bomb explosion on January 12, 2010 killed Tehran University professor Masoud Ali Mohammadi, a senior physics professor. He was killed when a bomb-rigged motorcycle exploded near his car as he was about to leave for work.

In November 2010, a pair of back-to-back bomb attacks in different parts of the capital killed one nuclear scientist and wounded another.

The scientist killed in those attacks, Majid Shahriari, was a member of the nuclear engineering faculty at Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran and co-operated with the Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran. The wounded scientist, Fereidoun Abbasi, was almost immediately appointed head of Iran's atomic agency.

In July last year, motorcycle-riding gunmen killed Darioush Rezaeinejad, an electronics student. Other reports identified him as a scientist involved in suspected Iranian attempts to make nuclear weapons.

Mr Rezaeinejad allegedly participated in developing high-voltage switches, a key component in setting off the explosions needed to trigger a nuclear warhead.

The United States and other countries say Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons technology. Iran denies the allegations, saying that its programme is intended for peaceful purposes.

So I'm guessing either Mossad, the CIA or Street Hawk?

My bet would be Israel's Caesarea squad. They're an elite within an already elite Mossad. The selection criiteria for Mossad is so stringent that only 1 in every 1000 receive an employment offer so it may come as a surprise to learn that, within this already elite group, only one candidate in 100 will make a Caesarea operative. They are a special operations hit squad tasked with the elimination of commanders, controllers and financiers of Israel's enemies abroad. The Caesarea mission statement is very simple: what they can't kill, they close down.

Doubt it. They have nothing to gain by helping iran throw a pity party.

Iran is backed into a corner, with enemies on all sides of them. They have nothing to gain and their entire country to lose. Picking a fight with the united states is a foolhardy move. They'll regret it. No one will come to their aid.

Russia is mostly a superjoke instead of a superpower in current times, let's not forget that they are having protests against a leader who has been fixing votes, figure someone from the KGB being underhanded, and China itself is tied to us economically. We cut off their exports and it hurts both of us, they lose industry and we lose product. The biggest difference is that we're good at producing things ourselves when we need to, but they don't have the resources.
