The quality of the first two wasn't convincing enough?

I see no reason to doubt Nolan so far, even if the trailer isn't amazing.

Thats kind of my issue. Stop at perfection, not the quest for more money. Now if the reviews come out and it is awesome, then yes its something to see. But I need multiple reviews first. I'd rather miss out on a merely "good" movie to have my memories of the Dark Knight's perfection unspoiled.

Good as it was, the Dark Knight could have done with some trimming here and there.

Gah, no. Nolan edits too much as it is. It took me several viewings (and the help of Dakka) before I understood fully what was going on in the section where Gordon fakes his own death and Dent takes the fall for being Batman. It still doesn't really make sense. If Bruce was going to fess up to being Batman so that he and a "back from the dead" Gordon could lure the Joker into a trap, why does Gordon still not know Batman's true identity? Comic book movies, tsk.

Flash, you never got this problem with Tim Burton. Which is why, IMO the first two are the best. I like the new bats, but Nolan tries to make a comic book more like 'life' rather than the Burton approach of making it a fantasy tale. Plus, he had Christopher Walken. Nuff said.

Gordon and Dent were in on it together, most likely when they realized they could pretend Gordon was dead after taking the bullet, they just had faith Batman would follow through. If that seemed confusing, avoid Inception.

Well, to be honest. Nolan still can't direct a very good action scene. He let's his camera move aroudn to much so the POV and line of action gets all messed up. Plus, his editing in action scenes is choppy.

What? That's not what I was led to believe at all. Here's my current version...

1. Batman arranges with Gordon for the latter to fake his own death so they can lure the Joker into a trap when Batman comes clean about his identity. Harvey Dent isn't told and Batman/Bruce Wayne doesn't tell Gordon who he really is at this point.
2. Batman tells Dent he will submit to the Joker's demands and reveal his true identity. At the subsequent press conference, Dent declares himself to be Batman, trusting as he says later that the real Batman will do the right thing and protect him.
3. Batman and Gordon are obliged to adjust their plans although this makes it easier to capture the Joker (who does of course want to be captured anyway).

Watch it again, there isn't a way for Batman, Harvey, or Gordon to plan it beforehand. At some point after Gordon is shot, he and Dent hatch a plan to call the Joker out. Dent specifically says this after the whole scene is over. A reporter asks him if he was working with the Batman the whole time and he says "No, but I trusted him to do the right thing". This is also echoed by Alfred when Racheal asks why Bruce would let Harvey take the fall and he says that they have faith in both the Batman and what he stands for. Even Batman thought Gordon was dead and the only person who knew he wasn't was Dent. They were the only two that had the access to each other and the time to coordinate everything. Gordon getting shot wasn't part of some plan, but what allowed them to create the plan.

Possibly, but then again I doubt a DA would want to have it publicized that he's buddies with a vigilante hence why he would say that no he didn't plan this out with the batman rather than yes, we did hatch this scheme with the batman.

Gods? There are no gods. Merely existences, obstacles to overcome.

That is only aspect of the whole scenario. If you look at the entirety of the event, it doesn't make sense, in context, that Batman knew about the whole thing, or really any part of it. He went to turn himself in and was surprised when Harvey stepped forward and took credit.
