But, to the topic, no one calls Afghanistan part of the Middle East except people that have political reasons to do so, or people that don't know what the Middle East is.

That was a fail on my part then.

You get your news from a channel that lies every day and thinks the Muppets are communists. If you don't have a rational argument with facts to back it up, please refrain from posting.

You can hate on CNN all you want. Just stop posting articles that take 5 minutes to scroll through.

I started to read the wall o text, but didn't get much beyond it was " the war that was suposed to make us an empire" part before I decided to scroll down to see who sponsored this river of sewage.

Imagine my surprise when I saw Michael Moore's name...

It was a screed, but there can still be useful info and valid points in a screed. If anything in the world is worth getting angry and worked up about, a war is probably it.

On a moderation note, please don't post (or quote someone else posting) long articles mid-thread. It breaks the flow of conversation. A snippet and a link should be sufficient. Starting a thread with a full article can be fine, if that article is the topic of the thread.

Weren't we militarily involved in Yemen as well or were we just backing the existing government from having there own "arab Spring?"

I don't recall.

I may just be thinking of a drone strike on Anwar Al-Maliki?

The drone strike in Yemen was the military of the US assassinating a US citizen

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Or it was the military of the US killing an ex-citizen, terrorist leader.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

We have, over time, launched many things at Yemen, but the current government is sympathetic. Its much like the relationship we had with Mubarak, but with less Nile River.

I can think of a number of others I would like them to assassinate.

No, the Government we were backign was Bahrain, not Yemen. No US Military involvement there.

Edit: I'm pretty sure Ol' Anwar was still aUS citizen we he got zapped.
