Another show I think one of those channels has is the one where the people in it go around old buildings looking for ghosts.
The couple I saw had them sitting around in the dark, scaring themselves on ambient noises, then going back to a hotel to listening to a computer and saying " yep, that sounds like a ghost."

i'm not really a fan of reality shows, i'm more on R.Lee Erney shows instead
1. Mail Call, my fav was "Foxhole" episode. but it takes 4 hours to finish digging with shovels and no machine equipments. that's the way modern soldiers fight wars. and that should give us guidelines of terrain pieces.
2. Lock & Load

History Channel used to favor Wargamers. the main focus (in the early days) were Ancient civ wars, Late 18th - Early 19th century (American Revolution Wars - Napoleonics, including the USA VS UK conflicts of 1812), World War series, and coldwar (Mainly the mideast conflicts, Israels VS Arabs. and Iraq VS USA)
Many (but no less importants) have been skipped. especially renaissance wars. (and the 30 years war). D'artagnan and Mousquetaire du Roi never been featured in any History Chaneel shows. mew!

PAWN STARS did have some history lessions in it (like how the grave markings were once made of cast metal and not a solid stone). but topshots don't.

Just last night I watched 5 minutes of some Bigfoot show, during which the Bigfoot "expert" explained that some guy's "encounter" was more likely a Bigfoot because he didn't see anything (the guy heard something walking through the woods at night). He explained that in most Bigfoot encounters, people don't see anything, so the fact that he didn't see anything just lends support to it being a Bigfoot.

Good gravy.

One thing I noticed though...when I brought up the program info page, it classified the show as "science fiction."

I remember when they would run some stuff about WWI and before, but now? I don't care about big foot or anything like that, just tell me how they killed people a long time ago and I'm good.

That show is really on that channel?! Although I suppose it's fair enough, most of the cast were born during the Victorian era.

I watched a drama I while ago where one of the characters were driving into a rather rich town in the US. One of them comments, "Man, there is more German hardware here than on the History channel."

In your base, ignoring your logic.

I personally like the history channel offerings like Pawn Stars, not really because of the people on the show but because you can sometimes see some pretty cool stuff. Its the same with Storage Wars and especially American Pickers, I'm a big fan of antiques and other little things that were used back in the days. I don't remember the name of the show, but the restoration one is also really cool. The Larry the Cable Guy show is also pretty neat because its a bunch of facts that people don't really learn if they don't live in a certain area and in a country filled with multiple cultural identities its also neat to see how certain "American" things came to be.

They shouldn't be on history channel though, I will say that.

Seconded on the military channel though, its a really cool channel. I like their top weapons shows where they countdown various weapons and vehicles, that's where I learned that the BMPs were innovative as being the first enclosed armored troop transport but they took a few steps back when they decided to put the fuel tanks on the inside of the rear door. That means a strong enough shot to the back, where the troops were, could make the fuel tanks go off killing everyone inside.

I think at least Storage wars is also on the then UK as well as Pawn Stars, not sure about Ameircan Pickers. I've watched the first two a couple of times, and there pretty interesting to watch, but really, History channel? With like hundreds of channels, surely there is a better suited channel.

It's roughly a 50/50 split between that and documentaries of mixed quality, some excellent (World at War) some poor (Battleplan).

I watched a real turkey about 'The real King Arthur' last night. I'm not sure what channel it was on though.

Oh, god, I need to rewatch World At War. Fantastic.

I will always have memorys of hearing that haunting theme song and especially that little girl with the haunting eyes. I watched that when I was like 4 or 5 with my pops.

I wish I could of picked up the whole collection on DVD. I know it's out here somewhere but it would be a fething arm and a leg.

Also check out 'Vietnam in HD'. It's the same style as WWII in HD (which I rather enjoyed personally) and some nice combat shots. Basically the first episode was 'Ia Drag' which is alright, but I wish they would of focused more on the MIKE and CDIG programs with MAAG-V 'technical advisors' first of all then eased into 'round one' like Ia Drang. That would pave the way to introduce The Defensive,Counteroffensive and the end from 63-73.

Yeah, I really like The 'Nam.

I wuld me more concerned about the fact that the there is a show entirely dedicated to bigfoot. Unless it is a reality show that follows bigfoot's life and family as they are hunted by the paparazzi.

I loved the one where they said the Pyramids were some type of fusion engines that powered everything on the ground. And the obelisks that we see scattered around, those directed "energy beams" to the satellites they had in space. At first, my brain skipped a beat....then it took a few moments for my brain to reset, and then I cried laughing so hard

I've only ever seen one episode, though it kind of made me want to watch the history channel a little more. When I rarely watch TV, it's usually discovery and it's those types of shows where they build machines. That is when nothing funny is on at least.

There's one suitable picture though when you google him.

Bad photoshop, though makes sense.

Y'know. The original Ancient aliens special was good. It brought up some interesting points and thoughts.
But then they gave it a series.

at some part 'advanced alien race seeded our civilizations' seems to be true. but on the Egypt things. it sounds quite dubious.
in the other shows. "Atlantis" .the narrator said that Atlantis exists in the same time Egypt does, and their archetechture is distinctively egypt/ancient mideast and not greco romans as the folk believes.
the show cited that Atlanteans migrated to Egypt after a catalclysm and began working on egyptian civilizations. including the construction of THE GREAT PYRAMID. (but not giving their motivations 'why' ?)
the only thing that sounds more logical was that of 'disc saw' was used in quarries and contributed to the construction of the GREAT PYRAMID.
