Sounds pretty sweet to me actually. TBH I didn't even know they had audiobooks for warhammer
once you listen to one... you will understand why its so bad... I'll give the audio versio of thousand sons a try to see if its good, but i'm fully expecting it to be like the other audio books which.... are just terrible.

It doesn't matter how bloody far the apple falls from the tree. If the apple fell off of a Granny Smith, that apple is going to grow into a Granny bloody Smith. The only difference is whether that apple grows in the shade of the tree it fell from.

If it's inspiration based, i find 11/10 times metal works. String quartet covers for hoighty-toighty and eldar stuff, the "normal" stuff for imperials (northern metal in cases where cold environment becomes a factor), then black/death metal for chaos.....
thing is i don't much fancy painting, I do however love assembly and conversion/customisation and all tha jazz

I'm either doing some kind of alternative rock (Goo Goo Dolls, Fuel, 3 Doors Down, etc.)
A bit harder rock (3 Days Grace, Rise Against, Five Finger Death Punch, etc.)
or maybe some country (Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, etc.)
And I'm typically contemplating, along side painting and modelling, which of the songs I've heard is the best theme song for whichever army I'm working on at the moment...
I actually found that a lovely, calming, sad kind of song is a very well suited tune for my Space Wolves (gotta get the slow motion visual going on, ya know?)
Usually have the TV on actually - either old westerns, Investigation Discovery or BBC America - oh and am usually playing Civ 5 on my laptop at the same time

My favorite painting music is El Dorado or On the Third Day by ELO or The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spider from Mars by Bowie. Old fashioned records if possible.

Prepare yourselves for the onslaught men. The enemy is waiting, but your Officers are courageous and your bayonettes sharp! I have at my disposal an entire army of Muskokans, tens of thousands of armour and artillery supporting millions upon tens of millions of the Imperium's finest fighting men with courage in their bellies, fire in their hearts and lasguns in their hands. Emperor show mercy to mine enemies, for as sure as the Imperium is vast, I will not!

Usually I listen to folk metal, or to be specific: Ensiferum...
The reason for this is that I can totally picture a a red tide of assault marines hacking and slashing their way through whatever tries to challenge the wrath of the emperors angels of death!
Take the lyrics of the "victory songs" chorus: "swords in their hands they killed each and every man who dared to invade their sacred land, victory songs are rising in the night, tell me more of their undying strength and might!"
It's usually this band, but there is also a lot of Finnish and European metal bands... Sometimes 70s hard and prog rock...
= unknown

Alot of Coheed and Cambria ("No World for Tomorrow", In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth" etc..). Lots of epic sounding stuff helps get me in the mood for apocalyptic space wars.
Awww Yeah!

Do you have a last.fm account? What other Folk metal do you enjoy? That was my main preference of music for a few years and helped me start appreciating other genres.

I've been watching Avatar: the last Airbender; legend of aang. When I listen to music while painting, I tend to listen to anything on my iPhone. Since I listen to none of the crap that I hear in GW [aside from Deep Purple.] I don't really fit in when I listen to Billy Joel or The eagles.
So, usually I'll listen to that kind of music. More modern/contemporary music I paint to is good Charlotte or James Blunt.
