Some kind of ornate weapon is definitely a must for the DP! I'm curious about your sword when it's done!

I like the idea of having a couple of cult troops sporting the BL black armour instead of their ususal colors (like you did with the berzerkers). Banners are probably a good idea. I'm waiting for some banners from WHFB beastmen I got on ebay. I hope they are not too big, otherwise they go onto my vehicles.
Your standard CSM squads look very fluffy with the mutations here and there (especially the flamer guy!). It's a shame GW removed the mutation sprue from the squad box years ago...

I love the stench of Gryphonne Sepia in the morning. Smells like... PAINTING!

I guess I have a thing for headswaps as i don't seem to like any of the stock heads that come with the kits. These termies are almost finished just need to base them and some transfers to go.

Also I have been messing around with the helbrute a little. Going to make it a khorne themed. Let me know what you guys think.

Some bloody good berzerkers you've done there mate. I love the uniformity of them.

Thanks. Most people would say chaos should be different and random. I happen to like my chaos organized.

Can't wait to see your progress with the hellbrute! Are you going to convert the powerfist?
The banner gives me some inspiration for my own vehicles...

Marks on vehicles or at least for walkers would be one of the few things that could have been done better in the new codex IMHO. Phil should have taken a closer look on the FW decimator rules...

I like the skintone of your termie-heads, especially the left and right ones. How did you achieve these?

I was kind of experimenting with a couple of colors, that why they all look different from each other. Some reaper and p3 browns not sure which and how much of each tho.

As for the power fist on the helbrute, I didn't really think about it as the claw looks really good imo.

Might not be any updates for a little bit as I am getting married this weekend. Should be a good time.....I hope

I had a little time to do one cultist. I was pleased with the way it came out. I had a bit of A.D.D. while waiting for something to dry, I busted out the havocs that I kind of cobbled together from my bits box. I did missiles for now but they are magnetized so if I want to make auto cannons later I can.

You achieved a nice skin tone on the cultist. Will the squad get any marks?

I'm really not sure yet how I want to build my list. I really have been trying to keep my army undivided, but the new dex really makes it hard to do that. I have thought about running under the Vanilla marines dex, as i'm a new player that dex seems way less complicated to me then the new CSM one. I know they will lose some of the chaos flavor but I will have a hard time remembering all of the special rules and tables and marks. Still not sure yet, maybe once more netlists get posted I can peek at them and get a better idea how to build my list.

Thanks. I also have a box of raptors that I'm going to use as chosen, I think. The legs are all goofy on the raptors and where the backpacks connect are not the same as the assault marines so magnetizing might be a pain in the ass.

I finished two more cultists and I am really pleased with the way they came out. Anything anyone can think of to make these better besides basing them let me know.

The conversion looks great and the shading comes out really nice.

Maybe some highlights on the black shoulder pads and the boots, but as I'm struggling with highlighting black myself, I can't offer any advice yet.

If you want to take the whole thing a step further, you could do some yellow or red lines on the edges of the uniform, but is it really worth to put that much work into your bog standard objective holders? I didn't do it...

Rumours are that there's going to be a 5 man package for the cultists, including 3 autogunners and 2 CC guys from the DV set. so I guess some weapon conversions/swaps will become necessary...

The black on the head and boots are not as plain as they look in the picture. I dry brushed some dark grey over the cowl but not the mask, then used some gloss varnish over all of it. Next a black wash over that making, it look pretty rubbery.

I tend not to be a fan of the hard edge grey highlighting on black that you see GW do. I doubt I will ever like it.

so far so good man, love the way the clothing turned out.

Wherever and whenever they appear they leave only destruction in their wake; they are the Lords of Death, Bringers of War. The Dark Angels.

Oh, you think the darkness is your ally, but you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn’t see the light until I was already a man; by then, it was nothing to me but blinding!- Helen Keller

Thanks, i have 6 more about to be finished. I did some minor conversions on two more. I think they turned out much better then the blade arm from the one above.

I have been working on converting the hetzer/vindicator that I had made for my Doom Eagle army over to the chaos side. I now feel I have enough spikey bits on it and will be priming it tomorrow while my pregnant wife is out of the house.

I also had a loyalist rhino that needed some chaosification to it, and it is about done as well. I might finish that tonight so i can prime them both at the same time.

Wow, that looks great! What's the plan with the colors? Will you add some weathering?

Well its primed black now and it looks much better in black. i will do the whole Black Legion thing to it. Gold spike tips, stars. Grey edge highlighting.

I might muddy up the treads a bit that is if I can get my pot of acryl open. As far as weathering with pigments i doubt it, as I don't own any :(

Sofar all I have had a chance to do is give it a light dry brushing of tin bitz mixed with chaos black with a little silver. Tonight I plan to do the gold stars and tips.

I have done a little more to it, first base coat of gold is done. I did make another thread asking for weathering tips. i also changed the Targeter thing on the top for just a star hatch. I'm not sure why I thought Vindies had a targeter on them. Looks better this way imo.

Hi Deathshead420,

Love the way you're giving the army a 'uniform' feel - especially the Beserkers (1 - they look more like a part of your force, 2 - you got rid of the silly bunny ears - double thumbs up )

Also like the DP - gives it a great 'used to be a space marine' feel.

I think the only areas I'm not so sure on at the moment (which to be honest I'm struggling with too!) are the armour and the gold trim - They both appear to be a bit flat (though the gold on the vindicator looks better in the pics...)

For the armour, I'm currently trying grey and white dry brushing, and then washing with black - though I'm considering edging rather than drybrushing now as my first attempts don't appear to be very pronounced.

For the gold trim - maybe wash with Agrax Earthshade to give a bit of depth - I'm currently experimenting with nmm - but this is not turning out as good as I would like so far

Looking forward to seeing more - keep up the good work

Very nice! I always wondered how to make my berzerkers look more like black legion. And I think your Idea is good.

Good work

I used griphone sepia, they dont look as flat IRl. My photo skills are really poor.

Ah - I may have to try that, my first experiment with nmm is a little lack lustre - will need to either improve or find alternatives ...

On a different note, your photo skills are better than mine - I'll have to do one of those 'how to photograph your mini's" tutorials

Looking forward to what's next

Outside the DarkTower, amongst the roses.

I'm not sure what to start or finish. I have not painted in days.

I have had a Metal Abaddon primed and ready to paint for about 6 months.
I have a helbrute with some small conversion work started.
I have that kitbash vindicator to finish painting.
I have that defiler with some conversion.
I have my Havoc missile squad started.
I have my other ten cultists from Dv set.
I also have raptor squad on sprue.
And last but not least the Dv lord and marines from Dv. I'm still unsure what i want to do with these. You could make a chosen squad, or a lord and a dark apostle and let the rest filter to other squads. Or fill up the havocs a bit more.

Any suggestions?
