Hi Matt, nice to see that you are involved in Vanguard, seeing the very good job that you did with KoW back then.

Out of curiosity, are you in charge or at least an official member of the design team or are you just a beta tester or something similar ?

It’s something we are looking at but unless what is being sent out is a simple, single package, it becomes a logistical nightmare if there’s add-ons too because you either then have to pick and ship those from the uk anyway or somehow figure out a remote picking operation and have picking lines in two places (one remotely).

Let's clear a couple of things up.

1 - "We won't make rules for models we don't make going forwards" - that's a misrepresentation of what I said (or at least has been taken the wrong way or not fully quoted). We will not ADD or make NEW rules for anything we don't have a model for or intend to make models for. Don't expect us to add a new army to a system to support someone else's model line. It doesn't mean that things like Herd or Ratkin are going to be deleted. They already have rules. If we manage to get round to doing our own Ratkin (for example) they might change their unit types or rules in line with the new ideas we would have for them). What we aren't going to do is things like put out an army list for steam-punk dwarfs in airships... because we don't make models for those.

2 - The Brotherhood are not dead either. Sure they took a battering and will come out the other side of the events from the summer campaign in a slightly battered shape, but that means they evolve and move on in their story rather than being removed.

Sad that some factions (betting that all those without any Mantic models) are being put on hiatus.
No they aren't. You'll just have to wait about 6 or 7 weeks. There will be 26 armies by the end of the year.

How will this work? Also, what's all this about only partial army lists being provided in the BRB? Unsubstantiated rumours, I hope?
I've not heard that rumour but it's not true. Can you link to where that is? The main rulebook contains 14 complete army lists.

I'm interested for the new background content. I thought C L Werner was writing a novel for KoW, too. Hopefully that will become available as an add on.

Oh, and Mantica now wants to be called Pannithor? Okay.
He's writing a trilogy, but not as part of the RPG KS.

It would be fun for Mantic to include some rule for British players to reflect the proud naval history, but those rules turn out to be they only win one in every eight games but they're only allowed to every talk about that one game they won as if it reflects 100% of encounters.

This seems fine. I'm taking notes...

You tease...

How did you find the process of adapting the rules to a fantasy setting? (Obviously no pressure if you are under any NDA's or whatever).
I've got three podcasts lined up over the next week with probably more after that where I'll talk about the design process and the rules. There was a fair bit to adapt and adjust (or just change/delete), but is actually wasn't too difficult. It's much easier working from something already written!

Podcasts I'm already booked for are: SIngled Out, Weight of Fire and Counter Charge

I'll try and remember to post links when they are published.

No one's mentioned it yet, but the prices...

40 Euros for 12 (otherwise normal) dice. Yeeouch. Could that be a typo?!

Seems like it. Not sure where you saw them for 40, but Firestorm has them for €7.45.
That sounds more like it. They certainly are not 40 EUR.

EDIT: RRP in EUR is 9.99 so the firestorm price will be with their online discount.

The ship's design is sure a bit over the top, but I'll be honest here and say you can immediately tell which faction they belong to. Each fleet is very different looking from the others.

I noticed something on the boxes from the Firestorm's shop...it looks like the small ships are put by two on a single base, like they're acting as a unit of two. Is that really the case or is it possible to play them individually ?
Squadrons represent 2 or 3 tiny ships working together. Same as in Black Seas.

So support for this game on long term will depend on how good it sells. I'm a bit concerned, given the worst possible time to release a game being now.

I wouldn't worry about ongoing support. I've got lots more coming next year, already in concepting and rules being either tested or planned. And this launch wave is about to sell out...

Support for ANY game from any company long term is dependant on how well it sells. That's just normal.

Basilean masts are bent, as is one of the dvarven cannons in a turret and a piece of the smokestack is missing. Not a good start, if these are the early view models mantic sent out ...
These are not final production copies. They are earlier test copies after which defects are fixed and sub-masters made, ahead of production.

We might do an undead fleet at some point, but I felt the EoD was a stronger choice to open with.

Just like I think Trident Realm fleet could look great when we get to it, and we can combine believable (for the faction) with balanced.

It's the KoW model. It's there so you can get one for the Capture the Kraken scenario, should you want to.

KoM were already tested alongside the first 4 fleets as a Black Seas-style baseline.

Or are you just saying that KoM was the control group for testing and we may not see them as a fleet. And what about the League of Rhordia?

Sort of a control group to start with, but they still get their own fleet rules, captains and upgrades. We will do the cards so people can use their Black Seas ships. If there is enough demand we will look at maybe new resin bits for the warlord ships for example.

The LoR is a landlocked nation in the middle of the Ardovikian Plain...

No, not yet. There's been more than enough to to to get this first stuff out the door! Working on loads more stuff for next year though already There's already an Armada RC working with me.

Resin upgrades will make the other unit options, released later. It's not possible to fit everything on the plastic frames.

So the solo mode is App only? My interest in that game has now reached a zero.
The SG is to have a digital option to reveal the map to you when playing solo/co-op. The rules for playing solo/co-op are part of the core game (no app required).

Not sure if this is the right place to ask, but does anyone know when the retail release for Dungeon Saga Origins is planned for? Looking at retailers it is all over the place, I've seen as soon as a few weeks time, through to March 24 via a different retailer.
. KS delivery (including to retailers that bought copies of the KS version) is December this year. Retail launch is next year (date not announced).
