At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Grot - I felt the same way at first, but then I remembered the whole thing with Sedition Wars - and how I was happy in the first place for just the boxed sets and a few extras - so I'm making myself look at it in the same way instead of going with the knee-jerk "FU" reaction that the "lower value" add-on scheme gave me.

I think I'll wait until the last day to decide what I'm actually going to do. I should add that I was happy enough with the previous $40 (plus $10 shipping) Mega Level pledge - so much in fact that I was going to go for the x2 $66 version of it. (plus $10 shipping). Probably would have bumped it even higher for 2 complete sets including the new stuff at a reasonable additional price.

Now I'm rethinking it with a bit of logic (why do I need 2 of any of these?) and so perhaps I'll still go for the $40 ($50) and add a couple of the new $4 figures a la carte. If I see some concept sketches. $4 a figure isn't exactly excessive, though I don't exactly need any more miniatures, either...

It would be good to see some more greens, though.

So $56 would now be the minimum pledge to get every model, including the add-on goals?

This:

PLEDGE $40 OR MORE
509 BACKERS
MEGA GOAL LEVEL PLEDGE - The Box Set and access to all of the stretch goal, EPIC GOAL, and MEGA GOAL benefits (Including pewter minis, character sheets, back stories, scenic bases, and a possible total of 15 unique dwarves) (add $10 for international shipping)

Plus 3x $4 = $12 for all of the actual miniatures (plus $10 international shipping)
So $52. Unless you want character cards (doesn't say how many or what they actually are) If so, add another $4 for a total of $56.

I saw this one:

$56

ULTIMATE ADVENTURES PACKAGE - Everything from the $40 level + all of the Add-on Goals. Also includes scenic bases & .pdfs for all your dwarves! (add $10 for international shipping).

Ah, I guess it's the same thing since there's no actual saving involved. Except buying a la carte you don't have to pay for "character cards" - whatever they are.

it might include some future add-on goals as well, though. not bloody likely that this will end ~65K...

scipio.au wrote:Without being rude - why? I'm genuinely wondering why people see the value in it, so if you can explain it'd be great.

To use as NPCs is the only thing I can think of? Surely if you're using them for your onw RPG character you'll create their own backstory and stats, and obviously they need no stats of their own if you're using them in Warhammer or a boardgame..

My planned use is as Champ/Heroes/Flavor models in larger Dwarf armies. So I see no value in any of the "soft" items.

I just want cheap minis.

@scipio- Because I have no legitimate use for these models, and a character card explaining why the undead dwarf is who he is, etc, would be cool

Agreed - more background is a great thing, and can be used for flavor in RPGs etc. Many GMs/DMs use modules and other sources for inspiration - surely more of this can't be a bad thing?

Especially as it doesn't cost anything (free PDF stretch goal hit!) or an optional $4 for a card with the concept art on it and a short bio?

They reached almost all of their stretch goals put up with one day to go. They're sitting at almost $110k, pretty darn impressive for just some dwarves

Pics of extra dwarves

Last stretch goal is a sprue of Dwraven children, unlike the previous ones this is free to all $12 backers and up

I went in for $22 so I could get two miniatures (probably the Berserker and the Fallen King) and the Troll!

Funny thing happened when ordering my dwarfs. I'm setting up a KS for my moms bakery stuff and accidentally ordered them while logged in on her account.

I got a call.

"Son. Why am I getting a questionaire asking me questions about dwarves?"

She thought I was pranking her KS or something.

I went in on the "one of everything" in the end (except the troll). I figure there's enough variety there to sub figures in on RPGs and RPG-lite boardgames like Ravenloft or Descent etc for a lot of archetypes.

They've got a Paypal link to order now that the KS is over. I kind of like that, the Sedition Wars one got me after the fact but I think I will be able to resist this one, although I look forward to seeing his sculpting in the Brushfire range! He's got a great style the appeals to me a lot although I don't have a use for the models in this KS.

Here's the link to the Paypal page, btw (also linked from the KS page at the top now):

Major congratulations to them for reaching 100x their original goal!!

Just a little update from a week ago. I didn't realise noone here had posted it..

Backers,

I am afraid that this is somewhat of a lame update. We don't have too much new to report.

I am whittling away at the surveys and messaging backers if there are any questions, if you don't get a message from me than everything is a-ok!
The first 8 greens made it to the caster and they don't see any issues with them, so it is off to the mold room! We should have some pewter examples to show by the beginning of September.
I am updating today, because I will be out all tomorrow. And we want to keep to our word about updating consistently!
Everything else is moving forward like it they are supposed to!

Project Update #39: Wednesday Update! 9.5.12
Posted by Stonehaven Miniatures
Psst... This is Mike! I've temporarily gotten hold of the keyboard. They have me chained to my desk and are providing me with only the most basic of human needs. I was told I could be freed after I had sculpted another 12 dwarves. But! Now there is talk of even more kickstarters in the fjaid ong, ljiatkjbfau shg94th9uhrgf bvan

Hey Backers!

Sorry you had to see that. Sometimes he can be a bit overdramatic.

Here is what I have for you today!

Greens/Casting Updates:

Greens are coming along! We should have some new dwarves to show to you in the next week or so.
Master molds have been cleaned and production molds made. Bulk casting of the first 8 is in process!
Dwarven Children/Tombstone Spure Green

Scale wise: The Boy is 15mm to the eye.
It has already been sent off to the caster!
Bases:

We have noticed some concern over the slotted figs and the scenic bases. We have tried to design the bases in a manner that the fact that the figs have tabs wouldn't be like a neon flashing light.
We realize that this still may make some of you unhappy and while that is unfortunate (because we want everyone to be happy!) this is how we have chosen to do our bases.

Mike has primed some of the dwarves to paint as samples. Notice how the tabs on the minis seamlessly integrate with the scenic bases (no extra green stuffing was involved).

Other Updates

We've gotten the DnD 4th edition character sheets & and all the character back stories. Look for us to be setting up our backers getting those electronically by the end of this month.
Everything else is moving forward!

Gotta love these guys. They take the time to keep up with regular updates for their backers, even after the end of the campaign.

He looks pretty cool, takes me back to Labyrinth/Dark Crystal/Elf Quest type 80s aesthetics which you know I love. I didn't throw down on this KS but only because I pledged to the Axes & Anvils one and one of their stretch goals/rewards/whatever was dwarf minis by this guy. Two goblins with one throwing hammer, as the stout folk say.

Mine just arrived. Haven't had a chance to look at them yet, but thought it worth mentioning that one set at least has arrived here in Aust, so hopefully they will be arriving for the rest of you shortly... - and before Christmas!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I didn't get the troll, which actually looks a lot better sculpted in the pic above than I thought the concept art did. Which is a bit of a turnaround from the norm...

This kickstarter went off before I knew Kickstarter was a thing. Have they made a website for orders yet?
