The Drop Pod is looking great. I love the stark contrast between the purple outer shell and the gray/white interior. It really makes the model pop when it's all opened up.
This just gets better and better! Very glad I've subbed this would you mind explaining what colours were used and how you did your power weapon OSL? I've been trying for ages and can't get it anywhere near as good as that Keep up the amazing work
Since so many people are asking for my recipe for my purple ill try to explain.
First i start with a black undercoat. (shown as grey in the picture)
Step 1 - Then i mix lich purple with black 50/50 in my airbrush and start with the first layer. (see picture)
I airbrush this only on the places were the light would hit so i leave the recesses black. (Grey in the picture)
Step 2 - Then i put pure lich purple in my airbrush and layer this on top of the purple from step 1. (see picture)
Step 3 - Then i mixed White with the lich purple i have left in my airbrush 50/50 and spray this on top of the layer i did in step 2. (see picture)
Step 4 - After this is all done i wash the recesses and rivets with Nuln oil. (see picture)
Step 5 - When this is all done i give the whole model a varnish and start the edge highlighting with the same mix as in step 4. (50/50 mix White and Lich purple)
When i highlight these edges i keep in mind that the light source is above so i only highlight parts were light would hit.
Step 6 - Then as last step i do a final highlight with a mix of White and lich purple (95/5) again only parts were the light would hit the most with the light source coming from above.
Make sure you leave the highlight you did in step 5 visible.
I found a video on youtube that might help:
(this is not my video so credits go to ScaleModelMedic who made the video!)
JSF wrote:... this is really quite an audacious move by GW, throwing out any pretext that this is a game and that its customers exist to do anything other than buy their overpriced products for the sake of it. The naked arrogance, greed and contempt for their audience is shocking.
Elnibbus: it is done with the airbrush.
What i do is first i spray pure white ate the eyes then the color (red in this case) then paint the eyes with orange.
So it is a long time since i did an update so here is one:
Some new toy's!
The Storm Eagle is going to be Fulgrim's personal transport so ill add allot of gold to it as described in the novel Fulgrim.
Looks fantastic, Scar. Really love the jetbike and predator, an I can't wait to see the Typhon painted up. Where's the eagle head on the Stormeagle from?
Dying's the easy way out. You won't catch me dying. They'll have to kill me before I die!
Thanks for the tip Scar, will be applying it to my Space Wolves, though I will be doing the lenses on them green. I was contemplating redoing the Wolves I have already done to incorporate the zenithal highlighting technique however I think it only works really well on large models, like vehicles and dreads. Will have a play about when I get my airbrush for Christmas! No doubt I'll harass you for more tips in the near future

"Atop a sea, a crimson red,
Axe to bare, land paved with dead,
Strode the Jaw, teeth bared in snarl,
Glimmering maw, death in hand."
Saga of the Gristlefang
The Eagle and Typhon will take some time to get painted since i first need to paint 35 marines and 1 more pred and ofcourse finish the cataprachti terminators when that is all done i will be working on the rest!
Stay tuned for a painted Tac squad!
Empchild wrote: So small point of suggestion as the land raider was off to me. The muddy treads are great but make no sense on the model as nothing else is dirty. You may want to dirty and muddy up the lower parts of the tank all around.
Agree on your point there Going to add it!

As for the list, I like it, (1850), although you may want LC sponsons on your preds to crack some armour (depending on your meta of course)
Its a 1750 list and and i got almost no points left to play with... but thanks for thinking with me
Anyway ive started on one of my cataprachti:
These are looking amazing mate. The OSL on your Cataphractii is the business. I really like the shade of purple you have going on. Look forward to seeing more
