Yeah I have had some awesome games against Necrons: Them attempting to invade Mars to wake the C'Tan (the void dragon) supposed to be on there and world eaters fighting them off.

We have allowed 30k vs 40k fights since it came out. Two caveats: A) no primarchs without fair warning to all opponents and (since we play blind lists/game type/opponents) B) all members of the club can use the 30k FOC.

After months now, with Horus, Mortarion, and Angron all making appearances in games... The result has been a minor upswing in wins, with some of our players having slain all three primarchs with standard codex lists. Present company has bagged them all using CSM or SM lists.

Can the 30k marines do some things better? Yes, but (especially when dealing with morale and mobility) they also suffer in other areas that can easily be exploited.

PS: what a trite title for a thread, even if I agree with the sentiment.
