Wow, those pieces turned out great. I'm really impressed by the modularity. Are they mounted on something to keep them from sliding around on the table-- I imagine they'll get bumped a lot during play.

Thanks. I love modular / practical terrain. I also love crazy details, but for the purpose of playing a game I don't want the terrain to be a hindrance. My table is rough enough that it helps keep them in place, but if you are careless they could end up all over the place.

Finally got paint on some minis for the first time in months. Nothing spectacular, but close to complete at least.

Nice work, particularly the fading on the sorcerer's face and horns. Are those the latest plastics?

Thanks! The Swordmaster is an old metal one. The Chaos sorcerer is a newer plastic model that's probably a few years old at this point.

So I had some issues with spray primer and varnish that really disheartened me a few months ago. Add to that a heavy travel schedule at the end of last year and Christmas and trying to sell a bunch of my childhood toys on ebay and it all adds up to not much time/energy for hobby.

I was working on a few more Swordmasters and an Aekold Helbrass at least.

Just put together a quick piece of terrain with a scrap piece of foam that now needs some paint.

I also picked up two copies of the Maelstrom's Edge boxed set. Looks like a cool game, but I'm not sure I'll be able to find any players.

Finished off the pillar a few weeks back and made a hill to accompany it. Because the scrap I started with had some funny holes in it I decided to have them ooze pink stuff. No particular reason why.

Here's some work in progress shots. I just wanted to finish them quickly so I used two colors and mixed them as I went for highlights.

Nothing like a pandemic to make you dust off a hobby blog you haven't touched in almost a year. Actually been working on some stuff after a few setbacks with priming and varnishing sapped most of my will to hobby for almost a full year.

Working on some stuff, but will I ever play? Who knows!?

Well I've actually managed to completely finish some models recently. Painted, varnished, flocked. All done. They're not the best paint jobs, but they pass the 3ft rule and I'm finding that if I stick to that standard I can actually get stuff done.

Now I need to work on actually playing something, but still, I've at least accomplished something this year!

Great work on those old orks and Swordmasters of Hoeth. You've done those old models proud. The pink/purple on the Swordmasters certainly gives them a lot of unique character.

Thanks! Went for a super easy paint job on the orks using Contrast paint and the results were better than I expected. Sometimes I think I should go back and put a little more effort into their faces, but now that I'm 40 I'm trying to actually get some things "finished" instead of "perfect" so I can have a better chance of using them.

I wanted to make the Swordmasters pop with bright colors more than I normally use. I feel like it worked out.

Well... it's been over a year. I guess I should post more frequently, but life gets busy. Since last posting in the hobby blog I went to England Christmas week and wasn't sure if I'd be able to get home, changed jobs so I dont have to travel as much, then went to Germany for 2 weeks for the new job. Fun times. Picked up an Ender so I'm toying with 3d printing and also got a halfway decent gaming laptop so I can work on toying around with 3d modeling. Hopefully I can do some more hobby stuff to relax, but since the new job offers tuition reimbursement I decided to start a masters degree.

The pile of shame has only continued to grow with a lot of MCP and GW board games I've picked up in the meantime.

Here are some MCP models I finished. Nothing groundbreaking, but finished is finished.

Hey, loving your big bright colours, particularly Thanos. I like your bases too (great idea for Vision, stealing that )

The Marvel stuff looks great, the non-standard bases work really well.

Thanks! The colors on Thanos are inspired by his first action figure they made back in the early 90s. For the bases, I try to base every miniature I paint the same. One less thing I have to figure out. For MCP it's nice because every other MCP mini is in a city, so it makes mine stand out a little. Sometimes I need to get creative (like Vision), but there will be some other that I really don't know what I could do to strip out the city elements (Beast is one of the ones I may not have an option with).

Dusted off the paint brushes and made pretty good progress on some tabletop standard paint jobs. Trying to focus on just getting things to look nice from 3 feet away and not go crazy beyond that. Hopefully I can keep going.

Thanks, guys. Ebony Maw was feeling difficult, but I'm glad he looks good to you. A fresh set of eyes helps sometimes
