I really liked the 5E Necron book when it was still 5E and life was simple. Annihilation Barges were the perfect counter to AV11/AV12 parking lot lists (shake/stunlock), Mindshackle Scarabs were mostly a novelty, Command Barges worked, and very few people had a bug up their ass about the codex being overpowered. GK/SW/IG took all the heat even though Necrons could hang with any of them.

Then 6E came along, Necrons became the obligatory OP-cheese-bandwagon-FOTM-call-the-waaahbulance-Mat-Ward-my-mother-never-held-me-enough army and things got complicated. It was fun while it lasted.

Daemons - current. Only running Khorne with maybe a splash of Tzn and can play both systems (40k and Fantasy).

My original was the Klan Orks, 2ed. That book was born of awesome, much like me.

3rd ed Necrons

The playstyle the book used was perfect for me and won me more tournaments then the newcrons. The fluff was fantastic and better then any of that special snowflake ward fluff that ruined the necrons

Grim Forgotten Nihilist Forest.

Honestly...Either CSM 4thed or the old Dark Eldar book. No one liked them. And I was never popular or conventional. So it was a nice mirror to my personality. I also got several effective lists done. That were better then the Lash Princes + Oblits with Plague Marines.

I've sold so many armies. :(

Be it out-dated, current, 5 years old or brand new, what is YOUR codex?

The one you know in and out, played the crap out of and read and then re-read every detail because you just loved that version of THAT army so much?

For me it was the old Tau codex.

Thing were so over-priced and 40% of the units were just unplayable.

But the cool parts of the army were still there, Twin-linked Deathrain suits were a must have, strng 10 ap1 broadsides EVERYWHERE.

Stealth Team Drone Spam Cheesiness was great, and of course hammerheads ruled.

I loved the codex, layout was simple. Easy to navigate. There weren't MANY rules up in the air that needed an FAQ. The markerlight+multi-tracker thing got cleared up eventually.

It was such a great challenge, to pull an army out of a 5 year old book and do well. I loved it.

New book is ok too, but I miss my broadsides.

What is your codex of choice?

Necron 3rd Edition Codex. I owned 2 copies. I literately wore one out, to the point of falling apart.

Dude, Im so with you. The new fluff is soooo bad. The old codex the Necron fluff was written from the enemy's point of view. The mystery behind the Necrons was sooo captivating.

I am not a Matt Ward fan. Man does he suck.

I still play with the 3rd ed book whenever somebody is willing to let me use them. (Most don't cuz they think its OP that I can beat them with a 3rd ed book )

The current Chaos Space marine codex is my favorite. I haven't had too many codex's in my hands but I have seen 5 different types and I like the layout, I like the backstory, I like the units (even though I don't win (I'm still trying units out)), I just really like this codex.

Long live the Chaos Space Marines!!!
