I haven't done any further investigation except to dig up my last receipt for my order from FW. On it, it lists out the total price, and then includes a separate line item for taxes charged, which they did and itemized, at 8%, which is the tax rate for my city. It was included in the total of the order (so didn't increase what I paid on the site).

So, clearly FW then maintains a presence in my state/city via their GW store in order to charge me the local tax. So that, I think, clears up that argument.

I would also assume that the tax listed as being my local tax also rmoves any VAT issue, since there is no VAT indicated as being charged for the order.

I can post up a pic of the receipt if it helps.

I sent this to Forgeworld last night:

Hello Forgeworld,

Could you explain to me how pricing and VAT are calculated on your website?

Thanks,

I received this answer this morning:

Hi,
Thank you for your email.
The Games Workshop group is an international business and has to pay sales taxes around the world, mainly due to its retail stores in those countries.
As different taxes are due in different countries, the price for customers has been held consistent at a GBP rate as shown online and in our printed catalogues, and Games Workshop then deducts the tax from the order value to pay to the relevant authority but does not add the tax on to the customer order.

This ensures that our customers do not incur the cost of our legal requirement to charge the sales tax, although you will see a value noted at the relevant tax rate on the invoice supplied in an order

If there is anything further we can do to assist you, or if you have any queries about the information we have requested or provided, please telephone us.

Regards,
Forge World

There are no GWs or FWs in my state (thank Nurgle!). OP, any thoughts?
