Well it is a miniatures forum so I do try to mainly post the minis that we're making available rather than all the rpg news. The big Paul Bonner art pieces are being used - especially as so many people haven't seen them in their full glory but we're also commissioning new art pieces too. :-)

On that note today we announced some massive news - Jay Little, award winning game designer of Star Wars: Edge of the Empire is now leading an all-star development team on Mutant Chronicles 3rd Edition along with developers John Dunn, Jason Marker and writers Dave Allen, Clive Oldfield and Sean Patrick Fannon.

They have told us that most of the covers are not final (just placeholders for now). I mean, it isn't like they haven't been showing off new art assets in updates either, but new art does tend to be one of the longest things to complete when printing an RPG (usually it isn't all done until after layout is underway). Not that the 20 year old artwork is, you know, bad.

But considering that this is largely a miniature focused board, I am not finding it too odd that most folks updating the thread are focusing on that aspect (it was certainly a driving force in the success of Achtung! Cthulhu as well).

But still, I am more interested in that they finally found a game designer than designed another set of miniatures.

The RPG has tons of potential from what i have playtested so far. Indeed there have been a lot of miniature renders, but its because they are still signing up artist. I am happy to wait on the art since i myself pledged to have art drawn in . As for the design team. I did not care for the funny dice, but edge of the empire was a neat system and i cant wait to see what jay and the guys bring to MC. I think where EotE failed for me was the universe changes. With MC we don't have that restriction in fact Modiphius is adding to it which is awesome to me!

I'm interested but I've gone off most d20 based systems. That and I'm still not sure if this relaunch should be played straight or tongue in cheek, whether it's rooted unabashedly in the 80s or if it has more modern sensibilities. It's sort of what eventually put me off backing Achtung Cthulhu, there's so many books, but scant info whilst all the maps, dice tshirts, badges, patches and miniatures are pimped out.

Good feedback - the 'stuff' is relatively easy to get up there and make it look good, often the books take longer to expand on as you don't want to detail stuff that might not be in the book. However we now have some content for the core book on the Dark Legion, plus outlines of what will be in the Luna content and soon what will be in the Imperial book so we can give more detail on those. I agree we do need to put more detail in to what you can expect in the books, the rules etc.

in terms of sensibility, whilst it's 'big guns and bigger shoulder pads' there a ton of cthulhu style investigations of cults and strange goings on, pretty dark in places when you read the dark legion material, meanwhile the battles are desperate and larger than life. So you can play it how you like.

The Beta Test produced by Jason Little has gone out to core Playtesters now, and we'll be widening to the full playtest group over the coming days before the release of the Open Beta on RPGNow.

In last night's update we unveiled some of the content plan for the Luna and Dark Legion content in the core book along with some awesome A1 canvas poster prints of the classic Paul Bonner art.

Check out the custom Q-Workshop Hit Location dice we're producing - the final selection of sides is to be confirmed but this is what they'll look like.

Are we going to be seeing all of the figures for this before the KS ends? I'm getting tempted to throw down for this one for some of the figures, but I'd like to know what the Bauhaus and Imperial guys are going to look like before I throw any money down.

Some of them but with the numbers coming it may not be possible to show all of them. What we offer is a money back guarantee. If after we unveil the final sculpts and let you choose which sets you want for the pledge, you still don't like the offering, then we give you the miniatures part of your pledge back no questions. Fair?

Speaking of sculpts here's the Brotherhood Investigator sculpt (actually a more detailed one will be posted in a couple of days) we unveiled tonight and some Mishima art

Right, if someone tells me what pledge gets all the books I'd be happy. All the miniatures is easy to work out... I think

Just for the record, as someone who backed the Achtung! Cthulhu kickstarter, the inclusion of the 'Print Master' level (effectively) is a really good deal. Those are some very nice books. You'll be wanting to keep them

Whitestar seems to be based on the old Sons of Rasputin tribe, though powered up.
With some of the changes to the Dark Eden fluff (an atomic bombardment being added and the skulls being removed) I am curious to see if the the Lutherans, Crescentians & Templars survived the transition to the new edition

According to Chris and the The sons of Rasputin are splinter faction of the Whitestar. They are indeed a Dark Eden faction. The preview art has been pretty cool so far.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
As it currently stands if you have not checked it out the campaign is in its final day and the Dark Eden book is just around the corner. A Whitestar Guidebook has already been unlocked

I ended up dropping my pledge. Looks like an impressive range of books, miniatures and add ons, but I didn't think there were enough details on mechanics.

Yep but more involved in the pre-Dark Eden storyline without affecting the balance of power between the corporations

Sons of Rasputin are a splinter from them, the atomic bombardment is in the original fluff (it's when the Earth nations threaten to nuke Luna the Corps retaliate and pound earth back to the dark ages). The other Tribes are there too!

Zondl check out the free Beta on DriveThru RPG and you see the basic mechanics, you can also join in the main beta test and get a look at the full current beta rules as well

If you like it you've still got 24 hours to get on board (we just hit over 1000 backers with a bonus) and there's now 1800 pages and growing in the PDF Master pledge for £40 / $64. Bit insane really.
