Either it's abilities "treat" it as something that not only can, but did move upon deployment. ...

The rule in question doesn't care if the unit can move upon deployment. Just if it can move after deployment.

Can the drop pod move after it has been deployed?

Does it matter? No, because the more specific codex rule trumps the generic and poorly written BRB rule.

You do not choose to no deploy drop pods.

"When deploying their armies, players can choose not to deploy some of their units, keeping them as Reserves to arrive later." (BRB Digital page #899.7 Preparing Reserves section).

The Drop Pod is not included in this as you can never "choose not to deploy" that unit so this graph does not pertain to them, and as such are not destroyed.

Thank you, this is the correct answer. Same thing that allows null deployment drop armies in 6th. The wording of choosing, pods never get to choose, they start how they start.

Half the posts in this thread read like "the rules are badly written, I don't play drop pods, so I'm going to manipulate them to my favour by making ridiculous statements"

And the when people point out how ridiculous they are, you just blame the rules. Simple, the perfect crime.

So drops are placed in reserves cus we are told to. Choice we'd prob do anyway thats fine.

They can move as deep strike means they move combat speed and after the sucxessful deep strike and moving combat speed they now get immobilzed so they are perfectly within the rules and do not get destroyed as they can move, combat speed in fact.

Also they dont deploy as such as deployment is in the movement phase deep strike isnt deploying at all its arriving from reseverves so your argument never aplied to them only to.things that get reserved that cannot then move onto the battlefield like say a building but as stated a drop.pod can moves all is cool argument over.

as far as I can tell, this doesn't apply to deepstriking things.

It's clearly intended in a similar fashion to the moving onto the table rules - if you can't move onto the table, you are removed as a casualty.

if something that cannot move moves onto the table, it cannot move onto the table as it cannot move and so is destroyed.

deepstriking is done differently.

drop pods cannot be deployed at the start. therefore they cannot be forced into reserves due to not fitting, they were already in reserves.

look at it this way:

if a unit cannot move after deploying, it is removed - correct?
if a unit deep strikes, can it then move? nope.

so your logic is that all deepstrikers are now automatically destroyed as soon as they arrive?

And once again, nobody was trying to manipulate the rules. It's generally a good idea to avoid assuming people's motivations in threads like these... You'll usually turn out to be wrong.

That would be another way of reading it, yes.

They would have been better served just stating that units that can not move at all can not be put in reserve, and are destroyed if a rule would force them into reserves,

But Deep Striking is not Deploying. You Deploy units to Reserves, including Deep Strikers. They come in from Reserves, not Deployed.

You are correct, you cannot "Choose not to deploy" a drop pod. You are forced to keep them off the table. So it's impossible to deploy them in the set up. Hmmmmmm?

Rules for reserves on page 135. Last two sentences of the paragraph with the heading of "Preparing Reserves"

"The only exception to this are units that cannot move after they have been deployed. Such units are removed as casualties if it is impossible to deploy them during the Deployment step of preparing for battle."

Deep Striking is deployment.

How are drop pods deployed....via deep strike.

Units that deep strike can move. They can run and fall back in the player turn that they arrive. They can do anything after the turn that they arrive. A vehicle that is forbidden from moving can never move.

What the heck, man?? It even says there that such units are removed _if it is impossible to deploy them_. You do understand what that means, don't you? Drop pods can be deployed, the rule does not count for them.

Units that deep strike can move. They can run and fall back in the player turn that they arrive. They can do anything after the turn that they arrive. A vehicle that is forbidden from moving can never move.

Luckily that has nothing to do with the rule you quoted here! The requirement is not whether they can move or not, but whether you can deploy them.

I'm just going to ask a mod to close the thread.

I think all that can be said on the matter has been said. With two borderline personal attacks on myself as the OP for simply bringing this topic up, I'd rather just have this shut down then continue to encourage people who can't stop themselves from angrily posting on the Internet from getting themselves forum warnings and bans.

Drop pods can be deployed,

...but not during the Deployment step.

..which is allowed by the rules. Subsequently when you do bring them from reserves they can be deployed. So how can you read that rule to count for Drop pods??

I think we've gone around in circles quite enough here. Ultimately, however you actually read the rule in question, it's going to be a non-issue on the table.

Moving on.
