Sure thing!
It would be epic. Centurionstar vs Farsight-bomb. Shooty deathstar vs shooty deathstar. May the best deathstar go first.
Thanks! Too bad my LGS doesn't sell them anymore. I've been losing dice and can't find replacements for them.
Zimko wrote:Question, what does a gravgun need to roll to wound a Farseer? I don't think they have a normal save.
6 if on foot. 3 if on a jetbike. However, grav- amps allow centurions to re-roll all wounds caused by the grav-cannons.
What would really kill a farseer on foot are the hurricane bolters.

You could totally outgun me. You see, if I get the jump on the Centruionstar its fine, but when he gets all powered up with his psychic powers rolling, its hard to beat, by shooting.... That would be epic but for now I have retired the Farsight bomb in competitive play. That is like the only army list I have been playing for a long time now and am trying to expand. That's not just limited to Tau... hint hint

The centstar is very much like the seer council. You need to get to them before they get a chance to power up, but once they do, they are virtually indestructible (unless you are running a Culexus). The other alternative is to kill off the supporting cast, but that is getting harder and harder to do against savvy deathstar players. They realize this as well and so will make it hard for you to do so. For example, I am thinking of running a centstar list with 3 troops, all in stormravens. Yeah, have fun shooting down my flyers. Meanwhile, the centstar will be jumping around the table killing 1 or 2 units each turn.
Sad to see the F-bomb go, but Tau has got a lot of competitive builds other than the F-bomb. Whatever you bring, I'm sure it'll be a pain-in-the-arse to deal with.

He's (Loth) always been here, at least in the West Coast where tournaments allow Forgeworld. But in the East Coast, you won't see him at all, at least not in competitive play.
However, what's made the centstar so incredibly devastating currently is the addition of the new Draigo and guaranteed Gate of Infinity. I honestly have no idea why GW made Draigo so darn good. Do they really want to sell those models so badly? I honestly have no idea what the heck GW is doing. They make such nice models such as the voidraven bomber and then proceed to give it crappy rules. Go figure.

I believe Loth is Red Scorpions. The only thing you really need are the Forgeworld updated rules, which is free on the Internet. BTW, his Chapter Tactics is really good as well. It gives FNP to all their Tactical Squads (the sergeant gets a free Narthecium). In addition, they re-roll all failed Pinning tests but cannot voluntarily go-to-ground or wear camo cloaks.

The F-bomb is far from gone. You just cant infiltrate it. You can still precision DS it into 2+ cover. Broken anymore, no, good, yes. I will not be playing my Tau for a while. I want to play my Necrons while I work on my Daemons.

Jim do you need to take troops with Loth if he's your ally with White Scars?

Its good to play new armies like this. you learn from your mistakes and it actually does some sort of conditioning to your brain. Im sure next time you play that army, the things you forgot this game will come to your mind

Cool. So why'd you decide on Necrons?
Julnlecs wrote:Jim do you need to take troops with Loth if he's your ally with White Scars?
Yes, you need to follow the standard rules for allies, meaning at least 1 HQ and 1 troop. Basically, it is 1 chapter (White Scars) allied with another chapter (Red Scorpions).

Especially when you post it online, because sometimes, you don't even know you've made a mistake until someone points it out to you (and that may not necessarily be your opponent). But yeah, you get better with experience as you realize your mistakes and improve from there.

Cool. So why'd you decide on Necrons?
I wanted something that utilized more units and had more than a one dimensional game. Tau are masters of the shooting phase, and are second to IG Leaf blower at that. Necrons are more interesting and can run some big baddies in Apoc. Necrons are a mono build right now though, and it makes them less fun in my opinion. You really only use a few units. Warriors in Night Scythes, ABs, Bargelords (which will get nerfed to the ground in January when the new Crons codex is set to drop), and then Wraiths and Destroyer Lords for a wraithstar. I am still trying them out, but it seems like they are kinda like Tau in the sense that they don''t have much competitive variety. What do you think Jim, as the master of the Crons?
I am finding Daemons to be really awesome as they play a three dimensional game, doing a lot in everything but the shooting phase really, and as psychic is really potent in 7th, and Necrons and Tau have nothing in that department, I want to use some powers, not just fail my denial rolls
So Jim what do you think about Crons and how they are so mono build right now? I will wait until the new codex to see if I stick with them, but it seems like the consensus is that they are going to get totally killed and be terrible, next to unplayable in their current state.
