Well, a person who is a web designer would use responsive design in the manner I just described. Just, you know, trying to help. My opinion of the GW site is still that it's not good. I'm not actually that convinced using "responsive" to mean "user friendly, ergonomic, fast" etc is as accurate as you seem to think it is. Anyway, this probably isn't the place to discuss it, I just wanted to clear up your confusion.

Responsive should be cheaper than coding two completely separate front ends, one for desktop and one for mobile. Your UX/UI overhead is higher but you have a single interface with different layouts. Where it gets expensive is if you are trying to make an non responsive product, e.g., SharePoint or (potentially) the cart software GW uses, responsive.
You still have what are called breakpoints with responsive design, these are normally targeted for iPhone, iPad, Low Res Desktop, High Res Desktop as you should have different layouts for these, but rather than being targeted by the device type you target by screen resolution. My current project adds in a bunch of Windows and Android phones/tablets as that is what they have given the sales staff, so we have 8 breakpoints.
Source: I do this for a living @ large multinationals.
GW being clueless again don't seem to have an Android version of the app, and the app only seems to be pulling down a feed from a website so hardly difficult to port.

So its an RSS reader, that also provides free rules and things.
But only for people with iOS devices?
Yes, more division in the playerbase is exactly what the warhammer games need right now. Right on GW.
Honestly, a deliberate tanking of a business wouldnt look as blatantly stupid as this.

Looks like I will be getting an iOS emulator for my tablet. Maybe the free rules will be worth it. Doubtful.

they must be getting some sort of backhander from Apple as their whole digital line up seems very Ipad/Iphone centric. I would be happy if I could just open the enhanced digital codexs on my laptop!

I grabbed it. It’s the same kind of spammy news I get in my e-mail from them from time to time. But from more sources (BL, FW, etc.)
I downloaded one of the free things they offered, one of the 40k missions from the alter of war book. It was in an .epub format, which is not a huge deal, but a .pdf would have been nicer. There were a few other things I could have grabbed, but don’t really want (painting guide for some DE guy, and a chaos wallpaper).
It’s free, so only costs me the 30 seconds or so every few days to check it. If I get anything useful out of it, that’s a net win. Most of the news I can just get here, faster. But I sometimes have to dig through the correct thread.

I just found out about this app today...can't find the free stuff as it only goes back to 12/1 without a search option. Has anyone been able to actually download the Adamantine Lance Dataslate? I would pay for the damn thing if they offered it instead of buying the Campaign book.

The free stuff only stays around for a limited time. The Adamantine Lance Formation is no longer available.

The Warhammer App has been upgraded and now works on iPad devices as well as iPhones. With a new-look interface and cleaner, easier to read threads, it’s the best way to keep in touch with what’s going on in the worlds of Warhammer.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
