AP3 is actually pretty rare for me as most lists focus on shooting gear, not melee gear.

Very true, however T5 and potentially an apothecary is usually enough to run over most of the competition. (Sammael usually works as a tank for me hen facing str 10 stuff).

You have the plasmaguns to deal with the seriously tough dedicated cc units.

In a competitive list I honestly can't see someone swapping out a squad of black knights for some terminators.
