Hope you decide to visit Orlando sometime and challenge Sci-Fi City's gamers. You might be surprised.

Much more likely that the local toughguy (you) at Sci-Fi city is going to be suprised.

Mahu, have you even played against terminator heavy pods before? Either the answer is no, or the competition at Sci-Fi city really sucks.

1) I am not the local tough guy. In fact, before I started my Word Bearers, I had quite a few loses. Something to do with poor army lists that I tended to field because I was to hopeful that I could make certian ineffective concepts work. Since I started Word Beaers with better army lists, my record improved drastically. If anybody is the "tough guy" in our group, it would probably be Me_Person. But that is only because he sold is soul for good dice rolling. (You should play his Mech. Tau sometime)

2) I haven't played against anybody with Drop Pods. Nobody at Sci-Fi plays an all Drop Pod army. That doesn't mean we don't have our fair share of hard competition. CaptKaruthors' Marines (that look similar to your famous list), Sisters, Slaneesh, and Imperial Gaurd as well as Me_Person's Mech. Tau and coming Lysander Wing. You just made a blanket judgement over a gaming group you no little if nothing about. I do hope you come down here. Maybe we can laugh over a beer when its all said and done.

Current Armies: Blood Angels, Imperial Guard (40k), Skorne, Retribution (Warmachine), Vampire Counts (Fantasy)

well...I'll take that whole thing as a compliment. Plus, dont forget all the competitive lists that crawl out of the wood work when a RTT roles around.

I also had by soul returned recently when I was offered it back if I rolled a 36 on 6 dice.

Well... not for long. I do have 50-60 of my fallen models just waiting to form into an effective army. That does include 6 meltas and 8 plasmas.... hmmm...

Oh, and the PVC drop pods, I've already made 8 of em.

I look forward to a good Drop Pod army.

What was this thread about again?

Well Mahu, that wasn't intended as a slam of your local gamers (just you...

But you've been here long enough to know that I rarely even play people that aren't top notch caliber, even in pickup games.

Well, myself notwithstanding, I personally endorse the Sci-Fi City gaming group. Slowly, through hard work and patience, we are building a strong competitve group while keeping the atmosphere light and fun. If you play anywhere in Florida, that is the place to go. Just don't expect Sci-Fi City to support you. Ever.

I recommend playing us, we are competitve and believe that Warhammer 40k has more subtly and therefore can be a more tactically challenging game than Warhammer. You still might win, but you will be challenged.

(Of course I don't expect you to come to this area ever. But hey, we gots Disney)

The necron army I'm running has 2 monoliths, a lord w/res orb, 3 scarabs, 5 and 4 destroyers, and two squads of 20 warriors. I'd castle in a corner as I've attempted to show below (poorly I know). Monoliths would would be set up about 3" in from the board edge with fearless scarabs in the outer space between. The Destroyers would hug the board edges, with the necrons just inside. Due to the bulk of the monolith's you'd be hard pressed podding within 12". If you managed to kill a significant number from any squad, I'd transport them through the monolith (with the doors facing the inside of the castle) and have 75% come back. I'd then fire everything at the command squad. If I didn't need the reroll on WBB, I'd use the monoliths to "snipe" your librarian with the ap1 hole of the template.
If you're ever near Ohio I'd love to put this to the test.
