I am glad you like it! it balances really well, considering how tall it is.

In the meantime, I got something the other day that is not marines. here it is pictured next to the very first tank i ever painted... which was probably like... 15 years ago? can you guess the new thing?

Aww. I kind of miss the old Chimera kit. Kind of. Drove me nuts that the treads did not fit right without leaving a gap. I always tried to hide it on the underside of the model but I still knew it was there...
Is that a GSC guy I see in the front or just a gas-mask?

Oh, yes those treads. I'm sure you can see my own not so elegant "solution" there. It's still my favorite tank though, part nostalgia and part i genuinely love how it looks.

And yup, that is a GSC guy. I always kind of liked them, long before they got this new official support. they're the big happy (doomed) families of the 40k universe!

so i got the armored claw set on a whim and was... underwhelmed. Everything is just normal guard, with a tiny sprue of heads and a few symbols. that's on me, that's my fault, i should have checked reviews before buying it. But since I have it and i have some neat bits, i'm going to try to make it more interesting. here is attempt number one:



lobster claws! instead of a buldozer blade. if i keep it like this i'm obviously going to add some stuff to where they attach, and more stuff besides.

(Space Marines have not been abandoned. I'm slowly starting to paint the leader!)

I'm torn on the lobster claw idea. The loyalist and former guard player in me hates defacing an imperial vehicle. The heretic in me says heck yes! Both halves are excited to see what comes next. And to see the painted space marine leader. And the GSC foot soldiers. And the monkey on the banner. ... This thread does nothing good for my ADD...

I like... whatever that is. It reminds me of this wierd starship troopers CGI cartoon they made a while back. One of the roughnecks got transformed into a bug-hybrid. And while I've been typing this I realized that he also reminds me of an infested terran from starcraft. Also a plus.

I am glad to hear that guys! with these cultists, i want to go wierd and a bit unsettling.

Thank you! i'm going to get to painting the banner next, as soon as i finish the captain.

Sadly, there was a mishap with the chimera involving a dog, a cord, and it falling off a shelf and breaking the claws and other parts clean off. Gotta fix it.

Yeah, I've reached my budget limit with this. though it was less expensive than buying the game box.

But... there were two reason i bought it. Reason 1 of course being neat GSC guys.

See, not only does it come with a neat hawk, it's a hawk that belongs to a space marine! Space Marine pets: totally canon. i am vindicated.

i'm trying it out for something else though. first attempt:

Ooh. I like the hawk. Although it looks like a fiddly bit that would break if you look at it funny, at least when attached to the whited scar's bike. Speaking of vindication... ie vindicator... do you have any vehicles planned for the Space Otters? because if so, I think they should do the grinning maw painted on the guns like Vietnam era helicopters... just a suggestion.

Love the pets. They totally add character.

The wire is pretty sturdy, almost too sturdy, really.

i don't have any vehicles yet apart from the land speeder, but i'd like to get something! i honestly really like boxy tanks, so a rhino might be the way to go. And it's called a rhino, I mean, come on! The grinning maw thing would be a good challenge for my painting skills as well.

Nothing important today, busy putting together the new stuff.

So there is not much going on here as i have got some family visiting! it's nice actually, but not much time for hobby stuff. Not much time for pets either, as i've found that i may actually have more animal figures than marines that can fit with them.

So instead have some genestealer cult friends.



i've got to finish their faces and their bases, and that should be it! which makes me pretty happy.

Thanks! i am working on the lobster-chimera today, what i wish i could find is those spore mine spawner things from the old macragge set. I think the claws would look great if they appeared to be emerging from those and i know i've got 'em, but where? Where?

Nice. You know, if you can't find that bit, I might be able to send you one of mine. IF I can find it. those things have Instinctive Behaviour: Lurk -- for sure. Never seem to be at hand when you actually want em... Also, is that last GSC guy a modified catachan or something else?

I'll let you know if i can't find mine! I've got some ideas of where they might be, it just involves digging around in a garage filled with everything that ever existed in the history of the world.

He's a catachan guy, yeah. i've got a whole bunch of old, primed and half broken of them lying in a box, and this was me deciding to finally do something with one
