Subject: Arhurt's Conversion corner - Necrons, Chaos and some Infinity
Obamanero wrote: What models used to make it? I can ID the Reaper Aboleth for the head.
I used a Hill Giant for the body, a Shark Mutant for the shark tail and arm and a few larva/snake things for mutations on top of that head.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I have started work on my Indomitus necrons!
First off I just wanted to see how my new paints would match my old Necrons and I think that it's a good upgrade that doesn't clash with the old. See the warrior test below.
After that I started with the Skorpekh Destroyers, not really wanting to leave them vanilla I copied some Cryptothrall torsos and extra legs to make them six-legged.
Here is the finished unit:

Thanks! I actually took this inspiration from the box-art as there is one lone red eye in there amongst... well the box art just uses some of the worst head options. I have to say I loved the kit because it comes with so many options that are simply not displayed!
There is a Tzeench avian head with deformed "wings" that I plan to sculpt a body for. I also think that they were pretty uninspired with the paint schemes of the box art.
Anyway, here is his brother, behold Johnny Hotbody!
Nice looking Necron conversions + painting, and great Chaos stuff. You have a talent for painting eyes - the ones on the greater spawn and neck-mouth spawn are striking, makes them all the more disturbingly repulsive. Nice work!

Thanks! I'm totally in love with the concept of Chaos Spawns and want to have 2 more for larger squads, so expect more in the future!

Thanks! I've learned a few tricks from others over time for large eyes: Paint a big black blob, then a colored blob inside it, then another black blob inside that. Also really helps if the circle touches and is hidden by one corner under one of the eyelids, with the other free. It gives it that "streched" expression.
And for monsters/demons I put some diluted "Blood for the blood god" paint around the eye and then gloss varnish on top.

Thanks, much appreciated for the comment. I love converting them, their alien technology is really freeing, I can say the same for the demons.
I have spent the last few weeks working on some terrain. Going to leave my Blog link and just a couple pictures not to clutter my model thread too much. Follow the link for way more content.

It really doesn't take a lot of effort if you have the correct materials, and that took me just time (I spent about 1.5 years gathering the right pieces at thrift and craft stores).
In other news, I've taken my wife's demons to a better photo setup and came out the other way with some juicy pictures to share. Also made a video!
I won't repost the entire gallery here as it's a lot of them, but here are a few of my favorites.

Thanks! My necrons have a very simple paint scheme that allows me to paint them fast, but I like to take my time and try new things with the Chaos Demons. I'm glad it translates to some inspiring stuff =)
IGtR= wrote:Gorgeous Tzeentchian demons, and terrain looks absolutely fab. Oh to be able to play against the demons on such a board! Thanks for sharing
Thanks! Me and the wife played a quick game right after I finished the first few pieces, it was a blast!
She absolutely dominated the board by locking down my Wolves with the pink horrors as well as downing my Wulfen Dreadnought with her Giant Chaos Spawn!
Thanks! When we were planning the army I got a few key paints to touch on these guys, I use mainly Vallejo Game Colors: Squid Pink over Heavy Red for the Pinks, Turquoise over Cold Grey for the blues over a zenithal of black and white.
Back in 2016 I posted some sketches that I had created around 2014 when I made the decision to purchase and start assembling a new Necron army. I had done and sold another fully converted Neron army back in 2008-2009.
Well the monolith was always meant to be the centerpiece of the army (mind you this was before we had Tesseract vaults) but the fact is, the Monolith has been a sub-par unit for the longest time.
The most recent Balance Dataslate that made a ton of Necron units, including destroyers, able to interact with the Monolith again have finally pushed me to finish this old project.
There are some finishing touches I need to do, but this is looking too good not to share already!
