I think that most people wouldn't be interested in starting a Mechanicum or militia army because there are very little good quality battle reports on. Therefore, buyers would have little experience on what to choose for a new 30k army.

I'd go MK5s. and instead of just taticals include a heavy weapons squad of something. with lascannons, heavy bolters and autocannons.

MK 5 devestators with autocannons would sell to just about every CSM player

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Well, my two armies are RG and Thousand Sons, both of which are hardly EVER in batreps. So thats not the issue.

I think Mechanicum is slightly too expensive model-wise, and Miltia doesn't have any minis so you'd have to convert everything (GSC would also work, actually).

I don't think there is a shortage of people wanting to start Mechanicum armies. Went to a tourney on the other side of the state a couple months ago, and half of the armies there were Mechanicum.

Bummer. I was hoping my fav mark(2) to come in plastic. Well won't be getting all-mk2 armies then. Maybe dev squad or two.

Or even resin Jumppacks as a FW upgrade set. So you cant actually build 10-man assault squads using GW box.

I honestly think people are way too hopeful here. BaC and BoP are designed to act as gateway drugs, ways to get into 30k more easilly with a selection of basic marines, terminators and a simplified Contemptor. They then expect you to more on to the flashy FW toys - they wouldn't want to canabalise sales of the much more costly FW products. If we are to get another plastic box, it'll probably be another mk of marines and maybe another pattern of terminator armour?? (the dorky looking ones with the huge shoulder pads?) The only other thing they may do is make plastic thallax to serve as a gateway drug for mechanicum, but I kind of doubt that.

I see Raven Guard a fair bit, since they have cool fluff as the "professional marines (usmc kind)" and are top 3 in loyalists for rules, both at events and on youtube bat reps. Thousand Sons haven't been seen much because A. their models are relatively new, and B. their rules came out this month. You will see plenty of the Sons of Magnus, don't you worry.

Mechanicum is super popular but indeed expensive, but Militia is literally the cheapest and easiest army to start since you can use literally any "human guys" models, whether it be GW Cadians/Catachans/etc. or FW Death Corps of Krieg or Traitor hordes. They use all the IG tanks too, with some additions like Macharius super-heavy tanks as heavy support options.

I'd love to see MkV in plastic.
