I love this off-the-wall interpretation of Nurgle. It really brings out the "Gardener" vibe that Nurgle has, and that is something that I don't see explored often. Bravo on the idea for the Rafflesia, that is an amazing idea.

**SORRY FOR THE gakky PICTURE QUALITY. Will replace with better pictures soon!**

Got some OLD SCHOOL plaguebearers painted up! Went with brighter tone for these guys! I have about 5-6 dozen other plaguebearers with different schemes. I like the "no cohesive" look to this army. As if they are being degraded by different fungi/basteria/virus'. The mortals will all be flesh colored though.

Side bar: I LOVE these sculpts. The unit leader with a cape and boils all over his head?! The dude holding his guts against his body!?! Or the guy with a worm coming out of his eye socket. So much variety. Also the newer sculpts all have them smiling. Nurgle has a jolly feel to it... but plagueBROS are supposed to be dour and sullen.

Hello all!

Got another ten plagueBROS painted up! This time went for a more steel blue palette with a contrasting orange color. Also continued the meadow-y, realm of life feel! I love these mushrooms I found at the craftstore and the moss adds a lot of texture.

Holy Terra.

Nice job. They actually look like rotten carcasses, unlike the current 'Eavy metal scheme.

First unit of plague drones done! Two of them are pollinators in Nurgle's garden

Flowers drew inspiration from Rafleshia spp.

They secrete chemicals that mimick rotting meat to attract flies as pollinators. It has the largest flower in the world (reaching 40" wide) and actually doesn't even have chloroplasts (pigment that absorbs light and makes sugar), leaves, stems, or roots! They are parasitic on specific vines and grow inside them until they bloom when they forcibly exit the host. Yes I will be modeling this on the base, but wanted to show the drones as done! C &C welcome on the concept and execution.

Since this is a horticulture/tree/garden themed army..HOW could I NOT do a horticulous model?? This model was INCREDIBLY fun to paint. Not thrilled with the paint job on the mulch (the snail). First of all the "grot snack" is too close in color compared to mulch and isn't distinguishable enough. Didnt foresee that the grot and mulch both being green wouldnt stand out enough. I thought the concept was SO MUCH FUN when I modeled it..especially the little helpful nurgling from the Festus kit bringing him another offering as motivation. (I hate the nurgling lure) Also The highlighting came out two bright. I choose green and blue because they are analogous colors.. but I didn't meet in the middle enough. The shell should really be more teal. Thought about hitting it with a Coelia shade..thoughts??

Work in progress:

WOW it has been a while since I updated. But I do come bearing gifts.. as any good follower of nurgle would!

I built a new Harbinger of Decay. Or Chaos Lord on Demonic Mount. LOL whatever I need him to be but I built him! Used the old beast of Nurgle model and a rot fly with a chaos lord from the manticore kit. In the fluff, Beasts who dont have anyone to play with (or if the playthings die) they get said and metamorphisize into the angry rot flies that plaguebearers and blightkings ride. Here we have a metamorphosis gone wrong (Right??) and now he is some horrible amalgamation, still having his beastly instincts to play, but the malicious intent of the flies.

Going to try to get him painted up before NOVA!

Next up is my glotkin conversion! All the blightkings and maruaders have trees growing off of them so I figured the big guy should as well!! I used a citadel tree where Ethracc stood. So I also used another branch/root busting through his "shoulder" so he had a place to cast his foul magic!

Here is a fully painted picture of the conversion....Although the quality isn't quite there so I will update it when I can get a better picture! I am so friggin proud of it.

heyy! wow it really has been a while! good to see you again

well, I wouldn't have thought it possible, but you seem to have somehow made that old beast model look good!

and the glottkin! it looked good before, but now it really looks great! - and really fits your army theme
(also, see?, I told you that'd look good! )

...now I'm picturing a big centrepiece model for the army...either a glottkin or a forgeworld great unclean one, kitbashed with the citadel wood scenery kit...that could be sweet

Thanks for the kind words! Your suggestion must have seeped into my subconscious hah! Thanks for that. Because I’m immensely proud of the work on glotty!

I keep changing the name of the army but it keeps growing!!

just looking at it again, and I think if I had done that conversion, I probably would have positioned the tree much more centrally, and a little more towards the rear, and turned so that the branches are leaning out behind him...

...looking at how you've done it though, I think that works far better...the way you have the tree off to one side, leaning out like that, and then how you've balanced it out with that extra branch growing out of his shoulder...it gives the whole piece such a nice natural sense of flow...and you've blended in the base of the tree really well too...yeah, you're definitely right to be proud of your work on this man...real nice!

Thanks for the heads up man! I was nominated for best painted. I never expected to win, but it sure feels awesome to just be one of the ten nominated. Pete Foley personally paint judged my army. Said it was his favorite out of the row of tables he was assigned to judge. *swoon*

I Came in 11th in battle points, but because of the paint score managed to finish 3rd overall at the GT.

Anyways.. work continues and I will try to update with more regularity.

Converted a nurgle Warshrine!

I used epidemius as the priest, corpse cart as the alter and a couple of ancient plaguebearer guards. I wanted to go for a "compost cart" vibe. The hourglass bit on Epidemius is PERFECT. I feel as if he is keeping track of how long it is before his minions must turn over the compost/dead body mulch. Obviously trees, grass and mushrooms have started sprouting on this nutrient rich pile of rotting organic matter *BARF*
