Subject: [Kickstarter February 14] Luxumbra: Infinity Collectors, busts and big miniatures
These are awful stretch goals. For a campaign designed to produce busts and large-scale figures, it's laughable that it takes $100,000 in funding, $80,000 beyond the base funding, to fund the next figure. When will we see another PAID figure add-on? At $200,000? Does it seriously cost $80,000 to fund each sculpt?
I know it's just my opinion but i dont need stickers, bases, art cards, or any of that. What I backed for was large-scale infinity figures and taking $10,000 as a reasonable estimate for what it takes to design, sculpt, and then pay IP rights for each new bust, we should be seeing or hearing about 6 new concepts by now.
I'm in for now but so far I'm pretty disappointed. I'll make my final decision near the end.

It isn't so much that it takes 80k to fund a new sculpt so much as at that point they have paid off all the costs of anything previous (sculpts, casting, offset price for Giraldez books, signature airbrush set, etc, etc) while also (probably) paying off a chunk towards the cost of the Ajax sculpt/casting etc.
As the Ajax model is a new claim there probably isn't nearly as much certainty about how well it will work as the 4 current busts that they have currently have actually producible.
You mention that you consider that $10k is a reasonable estimate for a sculpt. Not sure where you pulled that out of but ok, lets run with that.
There is currently 5 sculpts. So at your estimation that should be about 50k in the hole. Luxumbra has put down 20k as their goal, so they would hope to make the other 30k through other sales etc later on by this logic.
They have added in a bunch of other extras of varying value and cost so that will add a cost, I will leave you to make that amount up since that is your part of this conversation.
So, coming back to the 10k per bust, they will need that paid off before they can commit to the Ajax so whatever the difference between the 50k and the 90k minus the number you come up with for the costs of the extras would be the amount needed to pay off the other debts (left over Art book stock etc etc)
Of course this all balances on a random number you have picked, but it makes sense to me as I am fine with this as it is a stretch.
My not so secret hope is that it continues to roll on so that maybe they can be encouraged to have another bust (please be a busted up Druze with combat damage )
Glory is fleeting. Obscurity is forever.

I dont understand your logic. 20k was the base funding. They put 30k of their own money in to get this all started, so we've attained the base. 30 + 20 = 50 = 5 base models. Every $ beyond the base shouldnt be to pay off what's already producable. Every extra $ should be to fund new ideas, which is barely happening.
$10k to fund a new sculpt? It's actually way too generous. $2-3k is probably more accurate for design, sculpting, and producing a limited amount. Add the painting, maybe $1k more if Angel is milking this.
Where do I get $10k as a generous figure? My experience with dozens of KSs now. Any of the Mierce ones will give you a sense of it. They contract some of the best sculptors and artists in the industry and it doesn't take $80k to fund a single figure. They'd be laughed off the stage.

With the revelation that you can add as many pilots as you want, I'm out. I've got a friend who is a big painter who is in for all 4 busts, so I'm throwing him $40au for 2 pilots. That'll cover exchange rates and shipping. One to paint, one to put away.

Thank you for all your comments. The most critical help us to understand all of you.
We are really happy with the financing, but I want you to understand one thing.
We have 4 products in progress to create new busts and miniatures. The financing of this project will be used to make possible new miniatures, to the production and for the packaging for the old ones, to be with the best quality possible and for more gifts that are about to be unlocked, but we don´t think it is a good idea to fill this kickstarter with figures.
We want to accomplish the delivery deadlines for our base products and the possible unlocked stretch goals.
Our company is small and our capabilities too. You will see many new busts and big figures, but you will see some of its for the first time in the stores, after we send all your pledges & gifts.
We will try to do the best with the new miniatures.
More stretch goals, with an special gift in 100 000$

I'm wondering, will it be possible to substitute items in the pledges or do we have to take exactly what the description says?
Also will any more busts or miniatures be available in stretch goals or was that the last one?
Hi Casey´s Law,
Sorry but it is not possible to susbtitute the packs. We need those packs works, they are our base product.
If we unlock more busts you can choose with the pledge of 40 $, just like if we unlock more figures of 45 $ or 50 $, you can choose with those pledges.
The idea is to show the following figure at the moment the next stretch is unlocked.

Hmm, okay, even if we pay the difference if it costs more? I might pull back on my pledge a bit then and just get what I really need, the Valentines deal is great but I'd rather have Ajax than a couple of the busts.
With the stretch goals, wouldn't it be a good idea to show off the next big unlock in advance to get people excited and sharing the kickstarter with their friends in the hope of unlocking it? I would assume if people think all the good stuff is already unlocked then they won't be inclined to help things along and pledges might stagnate?
Ajax is a large scale model - 90mm, like the large 75mm model, which does have its own pledge level. So there's no precedent here to add a pledge level for a 32mm model.

I reckon, it's more likely to be something smaller since they seem to be keeping the busts in scale with each other. A Jotum would be awesome though.
Is it vain to think that this new update is a result of my comment? Because I do. Also might be an idea to run a spell check over the new unlocks guys.
Just saw this:

According to the last update this project has been made NZ/OZ friendly. If anyone else in this region wants to piggyback on my order (for a 32mm O-Yoroi) let me know before it closes.

I bet there will be a lot of love for Joan even if it's post Kickstarter. Would you guys also consider doing the physical book at 900 backers instead of 1000? It's the one thing I'm holding out hope for, I'll probably look at the pdf for 30 seconds but having it in print will have me revisiting it for years to come.

Don´t worry Casey, we also want to reach 1000 backers. Maybe could be surprises the last week.
At least we unlocked the Customeeple base for our O-Yoroi Pilot. You can add it now to your pledge.
More advances in Ajax:
Work for this week:
Phase 3: Final Pose.
Phase 4: Reposition and refine all the elements. The Hammer.
Work for 2 weeks:
Phase 5: Details.
Phase 6: Prepare to 3D printing.
