Your so lucky. :( I have to wait until October. I build and buy stuff yearly in big orders fro my FLGS since I get a big discount. Like 23% total which is huge in Canada, and if I time it right maybe even a bonus discount. I'm real dedicated though and will not order anything else till my current stuff is done. No matter how long it takes.
I'm quite jealous of your will-power right now. I'm doing my best not to fall into temptation, haha

SCREW IT I WANT DWARVES HELPING MY LIZARDS.

"Sky Riggers....DIIIIIIIVE!"
Is it pre- or post-End Times?
Because before End Times they could be a force from Malakai (spelling?) to explore the chaos wastes while post- End Times they could be a dwarven force fighting chaos in the most daemon overrun territories.
Just some ideas.
It's no-End Times. Post Storm of Chaos, perhaos moved farther on the timeline for me to incorporate some of the new AoS stuff into the lore. Stormcasts, for example, are either daemons of Sigmar or manifestations of his will through pious hosts. A handful of Valtens, maybe.
I love the Malakai idea! I'll be using it. With the fully-enclosed suits, not only can they reclaim territory lost to chaos but I imagine these dwarfs also fighting successfully against the Skaven as they recapture the uh..Undgrim something? The old tunnels.
It's a minor detail, but I just realized that we might be about to see the first transport units in AoS, unless I've forgotten about a previous example. Surely one of those airships carries units into battle. Should be interesting to see how the rules play out.

The intro-text seems to imply ironclads will be able to do so.

Well, that's okay man, not everyone likes everything.

I really wish Avatars of War had gotten their crap together. Their plastic slayer kit was great, but the company really seems to have fallen apart after their Indiegogo campaign.

I was hoping for something a little more tame and not so busy (and not nearly so high tech)
I can see the appeal, though from later releases, the Dwarves were definitely headed in a direction similar to this one. Perhaps if it was more grounded, it would be more likable for others. Perhaps we'll see another faction of Duardin with less steampunk but plenty of old-world charm int heir tech.

There are still the 'traditional' Duardins who fled to Azyr or held up in the Mountains. All they need is a bit of love via a good Battletome. Make them good old fashioned duardin with focus on crossbows and catapults and booze.
If we had a proposed rules section for AoS I'd be doing it right now.

Indeed, I hope alot of the forces shown will get their battletomes in due time.
The Ironweld, Eldritch Council, Swifthawk agents and Devoted have already seen some love lore-wise so hopefully the rest will too along with battletomes once GW needs to fill some gaps between model releases.
Of course, someone counted all the forces in the grand alliances to be around 63 so I can understand the delay.

I was talking about the Collegiate Arcane on another thread and how it could be made into a fully fledged army. I would hope that the Ironweld Arsenal would also get the same treatment. This combined human and dwarf faction could be the one with the Steam Golems.
But in the meantime, I'll settle for these Sky Pirates.
After initially being very shocked by how they looked I really love them -definitely going to buy a bunch of them. I think I initially struggled with them not looking particularly fantasy but actually its made me get what AoS is, not the old world but something that allows more exotic stuff. I nearly got in on the Sylvaneth but these guys have me sold as a long time dwarf collector [since first edition!]. Handily my birthday is coming up so I should have a bit of cash to get a good haul to start me off. Just have to get my old gaming buddy into it as well...
and why isn't it April yet...??

I am like Silverstu I think. At first look they looked very silly but slowly growing on me, and not very fantasy looking.
I guess GW is going is going the Warmahordes way combining magic and technology/steampunk. As I said, slowly growing on me. Don't think I will collect them, but might buy an air ship down the road as a project.
Now to read the fluff and see it that gets me more excited or not.

As I said in the rumours thread, I really don't like them, but this is mostly due to the fact that I don't like 19th century throwbacks and Victorian steam settings at all. Other than some design choices on the miniatures (double pauldrons and sharp angles on clothes) I think that they're a solid release. I'm not going to buy them (like ever...), but they fit into the setting so far and provide a little more diversity in the sword & magic stories that we've seen so far. Other than that - dwarf pirates/buccaneers, down to the pirate code that the pirate lords agreed between themselves - they're ok.

Future War Cultist wrote: What's the rules with regards to spoilers? I've found out some more information, on weapon names and the names of their own poster boys.
Nothing, only rumors that indeed the ironclad (and maybe the frigate) may well become the first transport. And that "maybe" the characters buff the vessels in different ways.
OK, the (probably) rank and file troops, the Arkanaut Company? Their leader is a Captain, and he can be armed with a volley pistol or an aetherflare pistol. Lots of their stuff is aether related. The rank and file troops carry privateer pistols and Arkanaut cutters. They can also carry special wargear, like a Skypike, Light Skyhook and an Aethermatic Volley Gun. Here's the proof:
I'm just thinking...that is a lot of options. When you factor in the transport ships...definitely an insight into how 40k might look all sigmarised.
The poster boys are from the Sky-Port of Barak-Nar, which is the most prosperous of all the ports:
That's what these guys live in, sky ports. It's all very Bioshock Infinite. And that's awesome.
The Overlords are primarily hunting for Aether gold. And in Chamon at least, they sail on flying streams of the stuff.

As I said in the other thread, I think Gyrocopters/bombers are gonna look sweet in this army!
"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."
Watching the video last night I noticed the balloon guys have a weapon load out with a chain fist/sword [like the big lord] and pistol that looks a bit like a nail gun to me. Also a special weapon of a grappling hook type launcher.
@Davor -the ships are definitely the first thing I really liked but the rest have really grown on me. I think the illustration of the blood thirster attack also sets them more in the fantasy realm. They remind me a bit of the flying ship from Stardust amongst other things.
I guess GW is going the Warmahordes way combining magic and technology/steampunk.
To be fair, dwarfs were doing that for a long time now with a underground train, iron-clad ships, zeppelins and slapping runes on everything to give it magical properties.
In a realm of magic with metal everywhere the Overlords just went to their natural conclusion.

I'm still waiting to see what the Ironweld's "mobile forts" are about.
I guess in the meantime I could try to find my old dwarf army book, with the dwarf language in it. I need to create names for my sky port, crew and ships.
How do you guys think you'll paint yours?
@ Baron Klatz
I like the sound of mobile forts!
Also, I think they could use their own version of the skitarri, except make them actual robots.
I've been painting my Tau in a desert camo theme my cousin says reminds him of the US desert theme from the 90's. Deathwatch are Deathwatch. My small Dark Eldar force will be done up in a sleek purple and black reminiscent of the Saints from the video game.
My Tau army is huge right now. 3500 points or so. My DW and DE are just smaller forces. So I'm really sick of painting desert colours.
My Beastclaw Raiders are going to be painted in the style Duncan does them since its such a great theme reminiscent of the game of thrones white walkers. I want my Kharadron Overlords to be from a small port in the sky near this tribe so they can be opposing forces.
So my grand alliance destruction will be winter themed if it's ever expanded into other races. I'm not sure if I also want the Overlords in such a paint scheme or not.
I got one scheme that is a more medium blue in color with silver or steel as its primary metal color and likely ironbreaker as the third.
The other is maroon or light blue type of colour, with shiny fulgrite copper, and a sycorax bronze (or liberator gold) for the darker metal on top.
I'm leaning more towards the second at this point.
What Allegiance are the Dwarves? (Sorry not sure what they are called right now. Fyreslayers? Are they different?)
