Personally I think that Dale and Gordon's exchange (paraphrased "I hope to see everyone one of you again sometime." "I hope for that too.") is a clear message from Lynch and Frost about their openness to returning to TP and these characters.

Hopes don't get shows made, of course.

It was a precipitous fall for Mr. C to be sure. Had to be a little embarrassing to be an avatar of evil only to be defeated by *LUCY* and end up sitting in the waiting room engulfed in flames.

Twin Peaks is out on DVD this week (which I hope excuses the slight necro, please be merciful).

I have been waiting. I have made a point of finding out nothing whatsoever about the new series (beyond knowing about those of the cast who didn't make it this far, and being fairly confident Kyle M would be in it).

I took some time off, and have spent the last 5 days (with occasional sanity breaks, which may or may not have worked) watching the original series, and then film, then the new series.

What. A .Trip.

I knew I couldn't be disappointed, but I didn't think it would be that good. My head is absolutely falling off.

If there is more, that would be great, but if there isn't, still the best telly I've ever seen.

I might have to take a nice bland STNG before bed, bit woozy.

It's been 3 months since I saw the last episode, and I'm STILL thinking about it. So don't sweat the thread necromancy.

Something I realized a few weeks after the fact was that Cooper's adventure in the Carrie Page reality was a Western, at least in part. A steely-eyed, lone lawman travels to a town in Texas looking for someone. He gets in an altercation in a saloon -- erm, I mean diner -- with a few lowlifes in cowboy hats and has to shoot and beat the gak outta them. He finds the person he's looking for, and they travel together on a long road trip to their destination in a kind of grimmer, less charming Rooster Cogburn setup.

And you know, the seeds for this were planted throughout the series, from the decor of Sonny Jim's room to Cooper's fascination with the lawman statue. It was also alluded to in the lyrics of the Lissie song "Wild West", which actually provided the 'eureka' moment for me.

Spoiler:

Are you out there
To take away my fear?
I haven't lost my hope
Even though I am so far from my home

I've been living my life on the edge
Slip and fall if I take one more step
There's safety in numbers, I guess
But I'm going rogue in the wild, wild west
Wild, wild west (x2)
Wild, wild

From where I stand
There's a world where you can
All that you lost, you get back
And all that you want, you can have

Soooooooo many layers and themes...I'm not sure we'll ever see anything like it again unless they decide to put the band back together one more time.
