I knew I couldn't be disappointed, but I didn't think it would be that good. My head is absolutely falling off.
If there is more, that would be great, but if there isn't, still the best telly I've ever seen.
I might have to take a nice bland STNG before bed, bit woozy.
It's been 3 months since I saw the last episode, and I'm STILL thinking about it. So don't sweat the thread necromancy.
Something I realized a few weeks after the fact was that Cooper's adventure in the Carrie Page reality was a Western, at least in part. A steely-eyed, lone lawman travels to a town in Texas looking for someone. He gets in an altercation in a saloon -- erm, I mean diner -- with a few lowlifes in cowboy hats and has to shoot and beat the gak outta them. He finds the person he's looking for, and they travel together on a long road trip to their destination in a kind of grimmer, less charming Rooster Cogburn setup.
And you know, the seeds for this were planted throughout the series, from the decor of Sonny Jim's room to Cooper's fascination with the lawman statue. It was also alluded to in the lyrics of the Lissie song "Wild West", which actually provided the 'eureka' moment for me.
Soooooooo many layers and themes...I'm not sure we'll ever see anything like it again unless they decide to put the band back together one more time.
