It's mid month, but I just found this thread and I feel I can give myself enough of a buttkick to get something done. It will probably be only one model: Commander Dante

Below is a picture of him sitting in front of my computer with this typed out and date at bottom of screen to show he is still in pieces after having his flash cleaned up ready for gluing (PROOF):

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Update: Glued / Greenstuffed up. Waiting on Heat to dissipate a bit for the night, then heading to Garage to Prime. (See below)

I actually got some painting done! Go me.

(We can conveniently ignore that it's only some of the basecoats.)

Cheers Creeed (well done for getting the base colours down) and Guildenstern (good going on the Ork boys, wish I could get that many done in a month.)

Those Poxwalkers look great ZenBadger, really good skin tones and colour changes.

Good luck with your weekend challenge Zerg, hope it goes well.

Welcome to the challenge Beradical, I've always liked the Dante model, looking forward to seeing him painted up

So far so good after one day:

These guys are even more fiddly than I thought. Lots of little details like belt buckles, Khorne symbols, etc. This makes them very cool-looking but it takes a lot of time to pick those out with paint. I'm hoping to have final pics of them tomorrow night at the latest though, although tomorrow afternoon I won't be doing much because I'll be watching the total solar eclipse with my family.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Great work on the entrie so far.

Ive got a bit done since i got back from my holidays and think im on track to finish. Still loads to do. Any tips on doing dinosaur scales would be great to hear ( still not 100% settled on the colour).

I'm still planning to enter this month. Life has got in the way a bit over the past few weeks (not all in a bad way - I was on holiday for a couple of weeks, and had relatives over this weekend) but I have got started on a couple of possible entries. I might do a Dark Eldar Archon, or an Oldhammer Blood Bowl Ogre. I've taken proof pics of both, and am starting painting them, to see which one I feel like doing.

Awesome entries all! Its going to be tough as usual. Here's wip shot of the man. Quite happy what Ive accomplished so far, still keed to add few little details (if I can) and figure out how Im going to base him, if base him at all.

So I'm not the hugest fan of doing WIP stuff cause I can't stand how the model looks at this stage, haha. (Would also like to apologize for the picture quality... this was taken from my couch in my "temp spot" with an ooooold ipad) -- all other pics will be my DSLR from now on.

Anyways.. had to change up my usual night routine last night and ended up trying to paint on the couch while propped up with a bunch of pillows. Comfort level was not admirable (currently about a month into recovery from 2 spine surgeries in june and july)

So for the "setup" I was doing this in, I'm happy with how far I've gotten on him. Today I'm gonna get the Gold armor layered up and highlighted a bit more then once I'm happy I will move onto the fun stuff!

(also hand drilled his gun last night, still need to do some major cleanup at the work surface and get it a quick shot of primer again.

Happy painting for tne day folks, that's what me and Dante will be up to!

Hoping at this point to be nearing finished by Friday-ish.

We gonna have a poll for next month's challenge theme or what? I had a couple of ideas for that:
Medic!: Something medical-related, from a Space Marine Apothecary to an Ork Painboy to some Nurgle guys (diseases are medical-related, right?).
Blackest Magic: Some kind of supernatural stuff, preferably evil rather than benign. Possibly demons, dark sorcerers, unnatural abominations, anything of that nature. Actually this might be better for October now that I think about it.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

That feeling when you have two days to paint 4 models and a scenic base.

Elnibbus: nice, especially the claws.

ChaoticMind: diggin' the pop on the blue.

CREEEED: Yeah, feeling that way with my entry. Still gotta do some highlighting and figure out two big bland zones, and then do a base, and probably going to get...part of this weekend (by which i mean monday and tuesday night <shakes fist at employer> )

After 6 hours of blood (not really), sweat (a worrying amount) and tears (again not really but I did get very frustrated at some points) I'm almost done, just need to base and paint the heads.

Check out my Dante WIP updates over on my blog I just started!

He'll be done tomorrow, I'm hoping!

Also hoping to add 5 Intercessors with him since I was off the mark on the theme I think?

LAST edit...nvm: Dante is BRUTAL

Okay, I'm now done with my entry, here are my final pics:

I think these guys would qualify as pretty brutal, huh? Even if you don't vote for them in the contest voting thread, please feel free to put some votes in the Dakka gallery for these guys. More pics (including the other 5 men not in my contest entry) can be found in my P&M blog. They were a blast to paint! Looking forward to the voting thread, as there are some really nice and brutal entries so far and I hope those of you who haven't finished yet can do so as your entries should be pretty awesome too!

Haha thanks, man.

I should be fine actually - I took the proof pic a few days ago and had already started painting it by the time I posted it. I often have trouble uploading proof photos in a timely fashion because I have a habit of losing the adapter I need to connect my phone to the PC. I got into a bit of a painting trance last night which resulted in me staying up too late and being rather tired in work but also quite a bit of progress being made on the Archon. The biggest difficulty now is going to be taking the photos.

Some great entries taking shape this month. I like CREED's disturbing diorama of the headless troopers marching to war. Very political. (Just kidding, I'm looking forward to seeing it finished - it looks great.) Guildenstern's bizarre heavy weapon hamster squad is amazing. Paul's rat thing is looking good - very nice ratskin tones already, ZenBadger's nurglemen are great too, and I like how Vejut's elephant is looking. And I can't believe how good Bottle's Khorne guys look seeing as they were seemingly painted in a weekend.

And we're done boyos. I present, 'We Keep Moving', a diorama depicting the march of veteran sergeant Marcus and three soldiers of the Helicon Guard to the battle of Schwartzhelm.
