But really though posting an image from another members gallery that's not already in the thread or with out their permission is generally frowned upon.

Sorry did not know this, just wanted to make an example that would be the most easy to understand. It was also the next thread of his down the line, and I happened to have a gobbo of my own so it was convenient.

I get that just letting you know what a mod would say is all mate

Also I agree this thread really should be locked but so far I don't think we have really strayed off topic

To many unpainted models to count.

When it's in context, it's really not a problem. He was using his own picture to illustrate a point. That's fine.

Additionally, and for the thread in general, please keep it on topic. The topic is the model, not the posting behaviour of others. If you see an issue with what others are posting, use the mod alert button rather than adding more off-topic posts to the thread.

This has been an interesting thread. I can't help but feel there is something of a weird dynamic going on here among the OP and two or three posters. For what its worth and bearing in mind I only have a passing idea of what comission painters charge on average, the cost doesn't seem exorbitant. Yes, there have been many corners cut on the paint job- even fairly basic things. It does seem fairly neat though on the whole. Im seeing a lot of the OP's works on the forum lately and maybe that's ruffling some feathers? Dunno. Anyway, I'm going to attribute some of the venom in this thread to some basic misunderstandings and lack of awareness.

1) Does the OP actually want your advice? Gut feeling- no. I think the post is a vehicle to drum up business. The stated intent of this subforum is to show off works. Im not passing judgement.

2) We are all members of this community, so looking at the reputation and place within that community of the people giving and receiving advice is important. OP is a relative newcomer, many of the posters offering advice and critiques have really well established reps.

3) Sometimes when a person isnt ready to hear something, it's better not to speak.

4) Although that weird dynamic is in play, I want to believe that the advice given is coming from a good place. Hard to say based on tone in places.

5) Remember to T.H.I.N.K before you post your advice
Imo... based on what I read...
-True: absolutely
-Helpful: yes
-Inspiring: maybe
-Necessary: no
-Kind: no

6) Giving advice while on the attack is super counterproductive.

To the OP, learning how to interact with others posters on this particular subforum would have gone a long way. I had a quick look through your numerous posts and you can see how selective courtesy has eroded goodwill. This part of dakka is a bit different I find, and you might want to try a different approach in the PMS forum. Yes really, its the PMS forum.

1) Uh no when you post work for others to see you are asking for critique. So baloney.
2) I think you missed the point community. When someone is advertising a business. It is NO longer a community.
3) If they didn't want the feedback then don't post anything.
4) You have missed the other threads where people have given him advice /input and the OP chooses to ignore it.
5) Same can be said about the OP. It's a 2 way street.
6) Complaining about others giving input/ advice/ critique is just as counterproductive as well.

FYI: You didn't give any input on the model so why give any response at all to this thread ? Isn't the whole point of responding to a thread to keep it on topic ?

Frankly Sammoth, your reading comprehension is piss poor.

https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/331862.page This is the express stated intent of this particular sub-forum. It's might be a bit long for you to read it through, so I'll summarize for you: "This forum is to provide a place for people to show off their finished (painted) works", "This is a forum to actually show off pictures". No where does it say, post here to receive feedback or criticism.

I said clearly--"I had a quick look through your numerous posts and you can see how selective courtesy has eroded goodwill." You seem to have missed that in your excitement to spout off.

Again, I wrote "Yes, there have been many corners cut on the paint job- even fairly basic things. It does seem fairly neat though on the whole." Hmmm, seems like input on the model. Maybe you should take your own advice?

You are trying to hard, brother. I don't really know why you reacted the way you did to my post. Pointless antagonism.

Here we go again. Seems you have a problem following the rules. You quote them but, don't read them. Maybe it's a bit to long for you to read.
