I have trouble with the camera to select colors. Might be my camera on the tablet is bad, or I just need more time to play around with it. I did like that they show what color the app think we picked before I have to hit the find paint button.

As I recall from hearing companies offering some sort of world wide sweepstakes before, those areas of Australia have some sort of law that makes sweepstakes or something like that either really complicated or illegal.

The legal problem generally only arises if entering the contest requires a purchase, because there's no hard line between buying a pot of paint and getting a free entry into a lottery, and buying a lottery ticket and getting a free pot of paint.

EDIT: But in NSW you evidently have to buy a permit even if no purchase is required, which is weird.

Tablet cameras seem to be notoriously bad. I have a Galaxy 4 Tablet that has a camera of a flip phone. Works fine for Warmachine stat keeping - but can't take a solid photo. I've either taken pictures with my i7 or just uploaded photos to test it out

Man GW screwed themselves with this app!! I was going through my paint to put it in the app, and jesus did I buy alot of duplicate pots because I'm an idiot... NEVER AGAIN GW hahahahaa! Now I can go to the store and not sit there for 20min trying to visualize if I had that one off shade of purple, well better buy it just in case. NOPE!

But seriously I had no idea how bad I needed this app in my life. Very happy for it.

The inventory is just yay or nay, have or don't? there's no way to add quantities is there? as I have multiple pots of some paints for exactly the reason above

Yes, but adding quantities has been suggested a couple of times on Facebook and they say that they're looking into it.

quantities would be an added bonus! I use such little paint that one pot usually lasts me a long time. but man it erks me when I find I have 2 or 3 of the same highlight paint...

So you want it to irk you every time you open it and see that you have five pots of Fulgrim Pink

I seem to suffer from a very specific visual impairment that prevents me from seeing a Ushabti Bone pot when doing inventory. Recently discovered I have 3 unopened pots of the stuff. I noticed this while preparing to go out and buy a new pot of Ushabti Bone as I noticed I was completely out.

I don't understand why anyone would need a feature to specify multiple pots in the inventory. What's the point of that? When you empty the last one, take it out of the inventory. Until then, you have some. If you are getting low, add to wish list. What possible value could you get out of specifying that you have more than one pot?

I think for certain high usage paints, like the washes, textures, and core army colors, people like to have a backup, so seeing that you have one might mean a fresh pot, or a nearly tapped one.

I agree, that for most people, most of the time, it's not a critical feature, but it does have some uses.

If only it told you the matching color of their old line too. I know they won't say what the match is in army painter, but which one was khirne red? And which was scab red? I have the print out for cross compatibility between ranges at my desk, but there are old videos out there and paint guides that refer to the old colors and it's a pain to go back and double check.

Word to the wise, v1.01 is out in the App Store, and I've seen someone post that the update wiped their inventory.

May be user error, I can't say for sure, but caution advised if you've spent a lot of time inputting your paint collection.

I order paints online from UK discounters it's just much cheaper that way so running out could mean a week or more waiting for a replacement so I would nearly always have at least one back up pot of paints I use regularly. I often do custom colour mixes, often spur of the moment as an idea for a colour comes to me so I would have several pots of the same colour hanging around for this purpose (paint is transferred from the GW pot into an eye dropper bottle). I also have multiple pots of direct only paints as I'd very rarely order direct from GW so I order 2 or 3 at a time. I really have far to much paint!

It's not essential it would just be a nice feature to have.

I have the DakkaDakka one bookmarked (which has multiple lineshttps://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Paint_Range_Compatibility_Chart).
My point was it would be great if the app had the old names listed too, then it would make inventorying easier and i wouldn't have to jump to a whole other app to cross reference.

GW is not going to add a cross-reference list to a paint line they discontinued five and a half years ago.

Theo - try Paint Rack if you've got Android, not tried it personally but they carry multiple ranges, so they may have old Citadel.

You're missing the point. I understand that people might have more than one pot of a certain color of paint. The desire to indicate this in the app makes no sense to me.

I'll often buy a backup of a paint when I get low. I've been using Agrellan Ironarth a fair bit, and my pot is almost out. When picking up some new paints the other day (including Ahriman and TS blue - true story) I couldn't recall if I'd already bought an Agrellan Ironearth backup so I bought another (I don't get down to a GW store that often - and I thought of it while I was there). I also like to have (at least) one backup of specific high-use colours - Khorne Red, Mephiston Red, XV-88 and a couple of others (more than a couple when we get to the Vallejo and other ranges). I may not need 5 of each, though...

Actually, you're the one missing the point.

The point is that some people would find it really useful, even if you personally would not. The fact that a half-dozen people in this thread have brought it up easily indicates that. The world doesn't revolve around you and what you understand.

All of this applies to myself as well.

Especially if they want the app to really be useful and used by people like ourselves.

Well, like I said, it would be a way to indicate that they need to buy the paint, even if they have the pot. Having one pot of, say, Imrik Blue, is almost certainly enough.

Having one pot of Agrax Earthshade might not really answer the question "do I need to buy more?"

I mean, I'm not sure how useful a pseudo live inventory really will be, but maybe instead of just creating a list, the app allowed you to create a wishlist to buy?

The app DOES have a wishlist. So if you are down to only 1 or 2 pots of Agrax Earthshade, you can add it to the wishlist, even though you already have some.

I still have not seen a single explanation as to why it would be helpful to indicate number of pots in the app. I've only seen explanations of why people own more than one pot. I'm still curious if anyone has a reason. I can't think of one.

Unless maybe you want to always have around 5 pots of something. You're at the store and see it on your wishlist, but you're not sure if you only need to buy one pot to get you up to five, or four pots. Is that the issue?

Clearly, you don't want to "understand" and we simply have a case where you're digging in and doubling down on your opinion.

Or to put it another way, you're either unable to understand that others have different opinions/wants/etc to yourself so there's no point talking to you or you're arguing for the sake of arguing rather than going "Huh, okay. I'd be indifferent to that but I guess if other people might find it useful then fair play to them, whatever." and so with that in mind, I'm done talking to you or wasting my time trying to explain.

The main thing to take away here I guess is that no-one needs to explain anything to someone who is choosing to be obstinate. We owe you nothing.

So, like, later, dude.

I'm glad you're done trying to explain, since you never started trying to explain.

I don't know why your lack of desire to answer my question makes you so angry. Someone asking a question on a forum does not obligate everyone to answer it.

Obviously a lot of people are finding a use for an inventory, even without the ability to add multiples. The usefulness is that you know whether you have a color or not. That's pretty useful. If I'm looking at one of the paint "recipes" in the app, I can see if I'm missing any of the colors I need to implement it. That's useful, because I can easily see which paints I still need to get to paint that recipe, and add them to my wish list so I remember to buy them.
