What have got dakka

Firstly, insulting other members of the gaming community isn't a good way to start. They use bases for the same reason 28mm players use bases. UNIT sizes generally (because it's not 1 figure = 1 unit). Grow up a tad.

Secondly, why would I gripe about a fully painted army? Surely this should be the level we aspire to, not leaving the horde an unpainted sea of grey.

About the only thing I'd think about a fully painted army is "why have they painted it better than me?"

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I guess if you can't meet certain standards you shouldn't bother trying.

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Dude, that's my entire Space Wolves. It's my experiment with color and basing army. I am purposely avoiding doing any two units the same.

Ok for me, it's mold lines. And barrels that are not drilled out. Ok I know it takes time, and you can probably find mold lines on my models. but when I see a really nicely painted model with mold lines or undrilled barrels I just think " Dude! Why did you not spend a few more minutes sorting that out!".

It never bothered me until I started drilling my barrels, so I guess I'm just getting fussy as I get old. At the end of the day it's your hobby, so if you want your barrels to look awful, why not.

Haha, I used to drill out all my barrels, then after about the 60th Ork Boy, I realized it was an exercise in futility. If I have a warboss or some sort of single model unit, I will drill barrels, but just normal troops doesn't bother me anymore.

Would never ever gripe about anything when playing a fully-painted army. It's a big commitment of time and energy, unless someone is really take the biscuit with a deliberately ridiculous/trolling army designed to upset an opponent (something I've only ever seen on the internet, never in person), then they should be commended for that effort.

Having spent my formative years in early editions of 40k and WHFB, for the former especially, anyone with a fully painted force generally had a beam of light following them in from the car park, a chorus of heavenly angels heralding their arrival, and were greeted by bowing members of the store when they entered on their palanquin, rightfully giving them the highest possible respect. They would certainly never, ever receive any gripes!
