Would never ever gripe about anything when playing a fully-painted army. It's a big commitment of time and energy, unless someone is really take the biscuit with a deliberately ridiculous/trolling army designed to upset an opponent (something I've only ever seen on the internet, never in person), then they should be commended for that effort.
Having spent my formative years in early editions of
40k and
WHFB, for the former especially, anyone with a fully painted force generally had a beam of light following them in from the car park, a chorus of heavenly angels heralding their arrival, and were greeted by bowing members of the store when they entered on their palanquin, rightfully giving them the highest possible respect. They would certainly never, ever receive any gripes!
