In my school years, I enjoyed metal. but now I'm as an old man "make your noises quieter!" blublabla". I can not listen to disgusting husky growls. Only power metal with pure vocals or folk metal without satanic/paganic growlubbish. In general, I listen more to classic rock or new wave now.

Love these guys, really raw thrash/hardcore punk type stuff. Makes you want to kick in some windows.

Napalm Death, can't wait for their next album based on how good the last one was.

Sabaton on thursday, Nightwish on saturday. Going to be a good week for \m/! Too bad I don't think I can afford to take the time off work to fly up to DC and catch Judas Priest next week, or my life would really be complete.

Edit: on second thought, \m/. Airplane rental booked, let's see if this works out and I can make it 3/3.

That is one fine heavy metal triple play! Judas Priest were phenomenal when I saw them touring with Testament a few years back.

Brand new Judas Priest:

No, the lineup over here was JP, Testament and Exodus IIRC. I was late to the show and only caught the last of Testament's set.

Two down, one to go. Sabaton was fun, Nightwish was unbelievable. This is a show I'd been waiting ~15 years to see, and it was every bit as great as I had hoped for. The music was amazing, and I'll just let this pic speak for itself:

Ministry has a new record out. If I have a complaint it is that there is nothing new here. Same angry Alien Jourgensen industrial you know and love.

Rivers of Nihil just put out a new album, and I quite like it. I have their first 2, and the third follows the thematic elements of the previous ones (their debut album's theme was Spring, Monarchy, their second represents summer, and this current one represents autumn) The third album went a little more "soft" in a way that reminds me of Gojira actually. . . But, it's pretty damn good.

Pretty soon I'll probably be placing an order at my local shop to more fully flesh out my collection. I'm thinking of getting Death's Human and Spiritual Healing albums.

I've also been enjoying the hell out of Watain's latest album, Trident Wolf Eclipse.

There's very little metal that I don't like. Usually, I steer well clear of Varg and Gaahl just as a rule.

See, this is why I love talking metal. I had not listened to Rivers of Nihil before and now Monarchy is crushing me right now! I do hear shades of Gojira in this. That's a good thing.

Death are incredible. I'm kicking myself I didn't go see them when I had the chance.

Yeah, those guys are good examples of odious personalities that overshadow anything musical they have to offer.

Feth yeah! Strapping Young Lad is one of the very best extreme metal bands around. Good ol' Canadian bys, too!

His progressive metal band, the Devin Townsend Project, is gold standard prog metal in my opinion.

Flew into DC to catch Judas Priest last night, because \m/. Firepower tour, indeed. One hell of a show, and so worth the $1000 hole in my bank account.

Did Tipton take the stage or was it all Faulkner and Sneap?

Congrats to sorta-local metallers Anciients for winning the much coveted (ha!) Juno this year! Quality prog metal with extreme elements. If you like Blackwater Park-era Opeth, this is for you.

Solid list Death are gods.

Not content with inventing the Grindcore subgenre, English legends Carcass switched gears in 1993 and created the blueprint for every melodic death metal band to follow. This is one of the best metal albums ever.

After Carcass, guitarist Mike Amott would go on to form Arch Enemy. Most of Carcass reformed to tour with Suffocation and 1349 in 2007. I saw them in Vancouver and it was neck-breakingly good.

Woah. New industrial metal out of New Orleans. Heavy and dark and disturbing as anything.

Five years ago today, we lost one of the absolute all time greats: Jeff Hanneman of Slayer. Here is my favorite song featuring his amazing guitar work.

My sister is still mad at me for introducing my nephew to Iron Maiden. He's 17 now, but when he was in kindergarden he sang Number of the Beast to his teacher. Sis got quite that talking-to from the principal that day.
