Though I appreciate the lighthearted, possibly comedic idea of sending a Boy to GW so they can drum up enough points to play 4k at Adepticon, the best way to get them to pay attention to the playerbase is to do exactly what SOB players have done for the past 10 years - complain.
Their recent actions have proven that they are listening and considering comments from the community.
Make your opinions on our lack of codex, lack of new models and anything else you're upset about known publicly on their facebook group. Support others who share your opinion and do the same. This is the only way we will get heard.
I get this is all about opinions..... but you're wrong.
The fact sisters players have had to winge for 10 years is proof that has nothing to do with plastic sisters being announced- it has everything to do with the fact that GW is making a push for more female inclusion in the hobby and that 2018 so far has pretty much been the year of #metoo..... wonder why they don't have models ready? its because they just arrived at the party their marketing survey told them they were missing out on.
The idea that nerds whining on facebook is going to initiate more of a change in attitude than a fun, comedic organisation of the community which has never been done before, is totally unique to the hobby and faction and in turn gives GW FREE publicity (do you think if this goes well that it wont be posted all over social media? possibly even local news as a "light hearted" public interest story?) is laughable.
and the earlier suggestion of writing them an essay on the concerns of ork players........ this is a toy company, not a local council.
keep it up guys, both the premise of the idea and the comments against it are hilarious.

I need to pack up my 40k models for a bit while I move. I'm setting aside an AOBR slugga boy, nob and big shoota boy.
I'll have to mail them out on the 24th because I'll be traveling on the 28th, but it will probably take several extra days for them to get there.

Is there a US location that can be used?
It seems that the Nottingham address will cost around $90-100 for even a single miniature.

Sisters' players have whined for a long time about their lack of support. GW have not listened in the past but they are now. This is nothing to do with "female inclusion", don't try to turn this into a feminism thread, it's about the bottom line, profit, money. That's what drives GW and it always has. If Ork players indicate that they aren't going to spend money on old kits until new ones are released, what do you think GW will do? Do you think they'll listen (as they have literally just done or do you think they'll ignore it? It makes no difference of course, it still has a far greater chance of having an effect in comparison to sending them a Boy and a nicely worded letter.

For Mork sake! Have you not read a single post in this entire thread!? For the last time! We're not doing this because we want GW to bring the codex out sooner! That wasn't even mentioned anywhere and didn't even come into my mind until someone suggested that's why we are doing that! Now if you want to continue this make your own thread! Please can we keep this on topic related to pictures of what you are sending and Ork stories. Gork... not everything has to be negative on DakkaDakka. Sometimes people do things to insight fun.

Well obviously you haven't read my post as I don't believe I mentioned the codex either? I was talking about models mate.
Here's the reasons you claim to be doing this;
lolman1c wrote:What we Hope to accomplish:
Not much... we're Ork players so we're just as "imaginative" as the Orks are! It's really a bit of fun. However, if anything we hope to get some response out of GW, give some attention to Orks for once or at least demonstrate how much we all feel a little underrepresented by GW (despite being one of the original founding factions). In addition, perhaps it might even prove how dedicated the Ork player base still is to seeing the representation of Orks!
I've bolded what I think are the pertinent points. Why do we feel underrepresented by GW? Because we have no news of our codex, no news of new models and the Studio can't even drum up 4k worth of points which is awful honestly. GW know how dedicated Ork fans are, it's why they repeatedly take the piss.

Yeah, I didn't think it'd be so expensive either; I just used the UPS calculator - maybe a different shipping service will give better rates.
It seems excessive, butit is an international package.

I think this is a hilarious and very Orky (not childish) idea. The absurd idea of sending GW their own models to "help" them seems like something an actual Ork would come up with, and as long as it's done in a friendly manner I don't see a problem. I don't have any Orks and don't live in the UK, so it's a bit too much effort for me to participate personally, but I'll be cheering you on.

Social media whining was a factor, not a driver. Companies don't make investments based on facebook comments, what the 10 years of whining may have achieved is prompting GW to hire the company that produced their market research survey, the results of which indicated Sisters definitely still had a market. Now have a guess at which "consumer" campaign will make more of an impact- whining nerds on facebook or hilarious product specific campaign aimed directly at the company which in turn can be used as marketing?
My point wasn't about feminism, it was about the fact that in the current social climate, pushing a strong female presence in your products is highly fashionable and marketable.... which not only helps with the "bottom line, profit, money" but also helps create a company image that is "forward thinking, with the times and inclusive for all" which promotes sales of other lines which; guess what? helps with "bottom line, profit, money".
This wont change the codex, it wont change the release date and it wont result in new models directly.... but it'll have more positive impact than whining on facebook.

You genuinely think that GW decided to make plastic Sisters on a whim from a single market survey carried out a few months back? Really? I don't think you're so naive.
Which consumer campaign do I think will have more success? The one I have just seen work successfully. The years of whining from SOB players has got them what they want. Literally. Not only is this "campaign" untested, it also makes no sense.
Process wrote:My point wasn't about feminism, it was about the fact that in the current social climate, pushing a strong female presence in your products is highly fashionable and marketable.... which not only helps with the "bottom line, profit, money" but also helps create a company image that is "forward thinking, with the times and inclusive for all" which promotes sales of other lines which; guess what? helps with "bottom line, profit, money".
I think you're putting waaay to much emphasis on the so called importance of a female presence in a game system that has always appealed to men more so than women.
Particularly when we have robot people, blue fish people, fungi bros etc
Process wrote:This wont change the codex, it wont change the release date and it wont result in new models directly.... but it'll have more positive impact than whining on facebook.
In your opinion and not according to the most recent announcement made by GW in relation to Sisters. This statement is in direct contradiction to what is actually happening as I write this.

I think people are getting concerned that doing this seems like a nasty cynical childish prank. I can see how people think that. But for me as an ork player since 2nd edition I have had a tonne of feel badsies playing orks particulary in the latter half of that time. This is more like a statement that we are still here we don't hate you for your lack of attention to out models. And we've got your back when it comes to orks even if you don't really want to.
NOW GIVE US A CODEX! Before Deathwatch and other minor armies. It is whining but its also a bit crappy that our last codex was the first in 7th edition and shaping up to be the last in 8th

I don't care when the codex comes out as long as it is good. The lack of attention comment was more aimed at GW not playing Orks in any official sense for a while now. Honestly, if you like this idea then share your pictures and stories surrounding Orks. If you dislike the idea then make your own idea or move on... There is a difference between criticism and attacking the campaign because it's an idea the person dislikes... And on other platforms I've had people spam the chats with attempts to shut this down... now that is childish! But please! Let's all move away from this! i don;t want any more comments regarding this! Please voice your opinions in another thread so we can focus this thread on why you all love Orks!

This is simple, good clean fun. At worst, it'll probably get a handful of smiles cracked and a public thank you letter, at best, it might make them take an Ork army to Adepticon. Either way, it's not hurting anyone and is somewhat amusing. I can't imagine being grouchy and bored enough to sit here and try to rain on somebody's parade by writing out paragraphs dubbing the idea 'childish'. As C.S. Lewis said, "When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”

If the Ork codex is awesome and lets you play lots of different ways to win (like tyranids) then I don't care if it comes out in even 2 years! But if it's a index +1 (or worse... a Index 1.25) then I think we should complain that it took them this long for a major faction. But until now we need to nudge them to let them know we still exist.
