Hey, we got this great game going. How do we get new players? Well, we already have tits so young kids can't play.....lets add dicks!

The fact that it's all skinny, brittle resin means it's not appropriate for young kids!

Seriously, if this would just go plastic like Kingdom Death / Malifaux, I'd jump in. I'm not gaming with resin figures

Why would you want young kids playing a gladiator death arena game in the first place?

This criticism is odd to me.

Also, there is nothing inappropriate about the nudity in this game. It's not sex, like the Kingdom Death pinups (which I agree are inappropriate for kids), it's simply uncovered body parts on what is clearly a warrior, doing warrior things. Can't see why anyone would find that inappropriate unless they also hide their own naked bodies at any cost in front of their own young children. If anyone told me to hide that guy with the dong from my 4-year old I would laugh in their face.

edit: Oh yes, those models are absolutely gorgeous. I've been salivating over this game for years but simply can't justify buying into it when I've got so many games already. One day Arena Rex, one day...

Eh. I'm not even sightly sussed by the cutesy KD pinups.

OTOH, Manufaktura and Profig... yeah

I kinda wish Theophania came with a helmet-less head option.

RRG has said that they are starting to do helmetless options going forward. The fact that the art they originally posted for Theophania shows her bare-headed makes me think you'll get your wish (Dimitrios also had some helmetless art FWIW).

1. RRG has switched to using metal for hands holding spears and other long, thin bits (Zahra's whip, for instance).

2. In all honesty, I've never had an AR mini suffer breakage during gameplay. I've broken parts by dropping them ( ) but not once just due to routine handling. Plus, the minis are never tipped over or laid down during play, which IMO helps them stay in one piece. I'd say if that's your only barrier, you should give it a shot.

Hermes's feathers redefined the idea of "fragile" for me... "routine handling" my ass... those bit worry me if someone looks too hard at the model.

(But yes, most of their minis are perfectly nice and sturdy.)

Ha ha. Yeah, I agree about Hermes' feathers being extras fragile... One broke off twice while I was painting him but since then they've miraculously remained intact (though I do give everyone who handles him a bit of a warning to pick him up below the shoulders which probably has helped). That said, these new models all seem to avoid the sort of ridiculously tiny bits many of the original models had.

Someone just posted pictures of the model sprues on Facebook, and Theophania has two head options!

Nice! There's a LOT of nice improvements to their model layout in general here.

2013? That's an old bit of sprue, or that Theophania model has been hanging around for a while.

I think they use that same sprue trunk from 2013 for everything - they didn't bother making or updating it for the past 5 years.

ETA - look at the far left - it's also "..XIII"

Interview from Gen Con. Not a ton of super-crazy information, but a bit of an update re: Helleniki.

New announcement today, Zephyri are getting a new gladiator at Adepticon. Looks to be another viking type gladiator as opposed to the American look a lot of them have, which I do appreciate them getting more of, and it puts them at equal numbers with Morituri and Legio XIII at 8 gladiators+mount. Looking forward to seeing sculpt/rules though

The models look pretty great and I can understand the price, but the conversion from dollars to pounds and euro is baffling to me. Also, the starter sets are all sold out so it makes entry very hard.
