My oldest son (soon to be 10) helped to develop and play-test my Titanomachina game, so I like to think GW not filling that market gives me a opening.

A kids game besides 40k?

Should? Why not?

They could make a great game of gladiators. Kids pick a gladiator, assign them a weapon, and fight till there is only one. Use simplified mechanics of the games they already use. One mold models with info on a few specific weapons. Booster packs provide new gladiators and weapons. Give it a goofy feel, like orcs fighting to be leader.

AoS and 40k are already aimed at a 12-15 year old demographic as it is.

on the forum. Obviously

I dunno about 40k. The blokes in my group who play 40k are in their mid 20s.

AoS looks more like a kids game to me. Little in terms of tactics and goofy names.

I thought the space marines were supposed to be one of the more kid friendly armies with the abundance of push-fits. Simple rules, "good guys," and their price point is lower compared to most other kits. I could assemble gundam models by the time I was 10 or so so I don't think hobbying is the larger barrier. I would be more worried about how fragile a lot of kits are, and sturdier plastics would be an important fix. Heroclix pre-painted stuff, but orks or space marines. As long as they don't play against a wall of Slaanesh greenstuff penises/breasts most armies should be fine. Even then we all have memories growing up of seeing statue boobies at museums so I don't think nudity is the issue either.

I still have my copy of Space Fleet (didn’t buy the others), and I don’t play it anymore as it was too easy to “game” those grid results in the box top.

But I do miss GW’s constant stream of boxed sets - big and small, and not always 40K.

Switch to D10s; 1-4 = Hit, 5-9 = Miss, 10 = re-roll. Or try and find some D9s.

This. They don’t need a specific kids game, they already have them. The fact adults play as well is more sales.

Please tell me Space Crusade is too- my boy is 3 right now, by the time he's old enough to play it I might just be able to afford it...

Has anyone here played the Avalon Hill "Betrayal at House on the hill " ?

It's a lot of fun, everything is included to play, but requires at least 3 people.

There is a variation called "Batrayal at Baldur's Gate" with a Dungeons and Dragons theme!

It has pre-generated characters, does not need an adventure to be followed, and everything is included to play as well.

However neither board game includes miniatures, although both allow for the opportunity to do so!

I'm thinking that's the kind of " kids game " that GW needs to crank out, as the miniatures from their earlier boxed intro games could be used in WFB or 40k or whatever!

I'll just leave this here:

That's what got me and my friend hooked when we were a fair bit shorter than we are now. I would approve of GW realeasing kids' games, maybe even to go along with their kids' fiction.

Catch them while they're young I say! That's what Lucky Strike did. And I'm still wargaming while I quit smoking.

Yep, that was my gateway drug too - never saw the ad though, if I had I would have bought two copies!
