I think the monolgue we hear in the trailer is that of a villain explaining why she wants to destroy the world. The movie will almost certainly be crazy scientist mom thinks Ghidorah is a "titan" that will save the earth by killing humans but her daughter, the girl from Stranger Things, figures out that Ghidorah isn't from earth at all and Godzilla and friends defeated and trapped him a gazillion years back. Now she has to wake up Rodan and Mothra in order to help Big G take out King Ghidorah and stop evil/crazy mom.

That was exactly my take away from it as well. She called humans an infection and said the titans were the only thing that could stop it.

I too thought that this was an antagonist speaking and had a similar idea that she was off her cracker.

That would make a lot more sense.

I just had a thought about how Godzilla 2 could effect the plot of Godzilla vs Kong.

What if the Godzilla in GvsK isn't the same Godzilla? What if the Godzilla we know from the 2014 movie is fatally injured in King of the Monsters, and the one fighting Kong is just a half-sized offspring? That would also help narrow the size gap.

Sounds a bit like the subplot of the Netflix Godzilla anime.

There was a lesser Godzilla that they fought.....and then came to find out that the real Godzilla decided to show up.

I destroy my enemies when I make them my friends.

Three!! Three successful trades! Ah ah ah!

Hopefully this movie isn't that boring, though.

More likely...Kong grew.

That requires much less suspension of disbelief than the idea of animals that large existing.

I had the same thought that we were hearing the villian's monologue too. I quickly downgraded it from think to hope. It seems best to go into this with low standards.

Well I for one am super hyped for this, but I’ll lap up anything with Big G in it. Was a real shame they knocked off Cranston last movie tho.

This movie looks like it'll be busy, but maybe avoid the only thing I didn't like about the first entry in the Legendary series (there could have been more monster bits). So yeah. Lets do it.

But unless he gets a serious upgrade, he'll come up to Godzilla's knee, maybe?

The Kong in Skull Island takes place in the 70's. GodZ:KOM is supposed to be happening now in current time frame. Kong will have grown plenty in those 40+ years. Ready to take him on in 2020.

Right, we know this.

He's going to have to grow 200 feet to match Godzilla.

I'm sure he's up to the task.

So was my brother. He had this toy:

Which could flap its wings, and pick up stuff in its claws. Overall I think it was a much cooler toy than mine, which didn't really look like Godzilla. Its firey breath/tongue was also really underwhelming, and its launchable fist was kind of baffling.

Looks good - can't wait to see Mothra get fragged (but, of course, survive on as her stinky little caterpillars will certainly be shown scuttling away!) - I'm worried about Rodan surviving, but I certainly hope so!

We already know the Big G is going to make it out alive!

I'm actually more worried that there will be too much talky talky compared to good ol' fashioned Kaiju on Kaiju madness, but either way, I'll be there on day one!

Oh come on - the last one was really good.

This one has Ghodria. How could it be worse?

Seriously? The last one was atrocious. You see Godzilla fight for like ten minutes.

Quoting me from July? Hey ... I was young back then, and I needed the money ... (wait ... wrong forum).

Anyway, I didn't know MBB back then - I only got round to Stranger Things last week, and that was only because of the game (which is fething excellent).

I'm a fickle soul, and will defo watch it just because of MBB (in a non-weird way!).

I would agree - terrible film - but Skull Island was great in contrast.

Well all other things aside, the special effects and action at least don't seem to be lacking.

My confidence has flagged a bit since the first trailer, but w/e. I'll probably go see it anyway for childhood nostalgia reasons.

You see a lot of other monsters too though. Godzilla films are always like this - never enough Godzilla.
