Homicidal Veteran Blood Angel Assault Marine

Massachusetts

One of the first games I played in 8th edition, my Thousand Sons against my friend's Ynnari. It was late in the game, I was down to just Ahriman left on the table and he still had Yvraine, The Visarch, and 1 lone Wraithblade. He tried to Smite me and suffered Perils, which killed Yvraine, the Visarch, and knocked the Wraithblade down to one wound remaining. That alone was awesome to see, but I was certain that the Wraithblade could still kill Ahriman in one round of combat and I would lose the game. He charged, I took my single overwatch shot and hit, and wounded, and he failed his save. I won the game on an overwatch shot with a pistol.

6th Ed, unit of Plague Bearers charging a Wraithknight through terrain to stop it from killing my last unit of Plague Marines which was holding the game winning objective.

Measured up - 11" away. Rolled a 5, 5, 6. Was an incredible gaming moment and had the whole store on the edge

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."

Grim Dark Angels Interrogator-Chaplain

A Protoss colony world

Just had one last night in a game vs. a friend. His Custodes Jetbike Captain moved in and killed one of my characters. I then charged him with a Chaos Lord and some Nurglings. The Chaos Lord attacked and left the jetbike guy with 1 wound. Then the Nurglings attacked, got a single 6 to wound, and my opponent rolled a 1 with no command points left. Nurglings feasted well! I ended up losing the game, but that was funny seeing this mighty warrior in heavy armor die to being bitten in the ass by a Nurgling!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Stoic Grail Knight

Yendor

My favorite game was in the very early days of 6th edition, before the 6th edition codex's came out. I was playing my Eldar vs my buddy's Grey Knights.

We had been having a pretty brutal slug fest, and a pivotal moment came around when his wounded Dread Knight charged a lone Fire Dragon. This was when Grenades were first allowed to be used in combat against Monsters and Vehicles, and Melta Bombs were unwieldy. By some Miracle my opponent missed or failed to wound with all of his Dread Knights attacks, and the Fire Dragon managed to stick him with a Melta Bomb for the kill.

David vs Goliath there...

Xom finds this thread hilarious!

Current edition,

Renegade knights and daemons against orks

The Orks had swarmed over me with a wave of green tide and the battle was quickly going there way. The daemon resilience was holding them back, but they just couldn't kill orks fast enough.

When the renegade knight got set upon by the mega-nobs and Ghaz, it was looking bleak. Then a miracle happened. The Knight exploded and did 6 mortal wounds to every unit within 10".

This left nothing but my two badly injured armigers still standing

Happened right at the beginning of 8th Edition, friend ran an Imperial Soup list made up of Wolves, Guard and an Ultramarine Thunderhawk Gunship in a 3k game. Naturally playing solo IG I was getting wrecked but I had gotten his Thunderhawk down to 3 wounds and all I had left was Pask in a Vanquisher to shoot at it.

Sure enough, Rolled a 6 to hit, a 5 to wound and then did 3 Damage exactly, took down a Thunderhawk with my Vanquisher so I was quite pleased.

Earlier tonight I had a squad of 5 Slaneesh- Marked Chosen with Plasma Guns & a Combi-Plasma within 6 inches of Abaddon delete an Inceptor squad and pull the last 10 wounds off a Repulsor in one shooting + Endless Cacophony. Dropping 20 sturdy wounds off one unit shooting was SUPER satisfying.

Anyone else have some good similar stories?

Kharn, he never disappoints, had him kill Bjorn in one round of combat, had him kill titans etc. Literally every time you field him you end up with great game stories.

I have a Kharn story for you:

In the final battle of one of our campaigns, we had a separate 3'x3' battlefield that symbolized an orbital defense station with three artillery placements that could be captured like objectives and call orbital bombardments on the main battle. Each side was only allowed to deploy three units there, otherwise it was accessible through a warp gate on the main table.

We deployed Kharn and 2x 20 Pox walkers there, the enemy send three squads of Dark Angel intercessors. During the turns, Kharn cleaved through the Primaris and created dozens of new poxwalkers. Afraid of the orbital strikes, the platform was boarded by pretty much everything that could deep-strike, some interceptors, a unit of stern guard in a drop pod, warp spiders and more. A unit of World Eater bikers jumped through the portal and joined the fray (two of them would eventually get killed by Kharn himself).
In the end, we couldn't hold the platform, but Kharn kept collecting Dark Angels and Imperial Fists skulls for the whole game, without falling himself. The game ended with him in a donut of Intercessors and Sternguard.

In the end, Chaos won the battle - because the other side had committed over 1500 point to stopping the mad axe-murderer and a pile of zombies from taking over orbital defenses.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
