Meh. I just wanted them to do a good job on rules, I didn't care if they listened to the thousand different opinions of people online.
I don't really feel like they've done that, and while there have been several big releases, the overall quantity seems... less. Or at least less things I wanted.
Or things I wanted that they completely screwed up, like Necromunda or AT.

I've gotten excited about a few things when the marketing first hit, but by the time they've come out I haven't cared enough to buy them, which doesn't sound like a good job.

I just want good models and not feel like I'm being ripped off. I think the aesthetics dipped for a while but are now on an upswing. That, and the value boxes, have got me buying minis again.

I for one have been pleased to see the Titanic get turned around, and was astonished at how fast that turnaround was.

I still have not bought anything from GW since I sold my Dark Angels off, but there is a reason I play dwarfs - I hold grudges*.

That said - the 'leaked' video for the plastic Fiend was a thing of beauty.

I don't play Slannesh - but that still comes closer to my making a purchase than anything in recent memory. GW is interacting with fans again, and listening.

If Kirby had remained at the helm, then, yeah, the iceberg would have won.

*Actually, I hold a two year old daughter that eats the time, but the grudges remark was funnier. I get more use out of fantasy minis, so 40K was the one to go. I hadn't played in two editions of the game, anyway.

This is not surprising. GW has been riding on a bubble of ridiculous growth recently. It won't continue like that forever. Also the whole stock market has dropped considerably in the last few days.
Then you have brexit, trade wars etc. GW may suddenly find themselves having to pay import tax in Europe and increased postage costs when delivering to America. The future is pretty uncertain for every British company.

It's probably Brexit! That's basically the "uncertain" monster everyone is uncertain about during these uncertain times. Also don't forget Kirby sold a load of shares so that likely had some influence as well on the value going down, plus didn't GW itself admit that share values were going to lower anyway.

Honestly we knew their spike was an anomaly plus the big spike likely attracted a lot of bigger investors who probably wanted to see continual growth not evening out or reducing over time, so they likely have jumped ship to the next big wonder-company.

In the end the company is still in a super strong position, still pumping out models and products, still opening new stores and reaching out in new ways to customers. The company side of the company is doing fantastic - the shares going down shouldn't be a concern since its influenced by other matters outside of just how the company runs

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Aye, the moves the company has been making(planning in advance for a slowdown rather than running headlong into it while blind and on fire as they did with the LotR bubble, investing heavily in new infrastructure, expanding their range to re-colonise niche wargame genres etc) are all entirely sensible and positive from any rational, objective standpoint, and acknowledging the simple reality that our present shambles as a country introduces some uncertainty into things is entirely uncontroversial.

The fact the markets react to companies behaving responsibly and reasonably by hacking nearly 10% off their share value is just confirmation that the markets are nonsense driven entirely by short-term greed.

Aye, lets not forget company side they've bought land and invested into a new factory to come online next year I think. So there's clearly good times ahead for the company side of the company. This spike got them some nice free publicity; got them some serious attention from other businesses and has firmed up the company a lot. They've likely put down some healthy savings for the future as well as had room to invest in a new factory which is great for us as it not only means an end to the supply shortages; but a new factory means a LOT more production capacity which is great for the health of things like the specialist games since more factory production means more room to produce alternative lines without them harming the big line production.

It also means spikes in the big game production demands don't drive out production on the specialist games.

We can only hope that GW reacts to these share drops with a sensible no-panic approach. They knew they were going to come down (we've no idea if they hoped for them to stay up longer or not) so there's no need for GW to really do anything to rock the boat. Plus without doing anything the share might well go up over Christmas as we see a big sales spike (then again we might get a nice Christmas Brexit scare too so its anyone's guess).

I do agree that the stock market is a fickle beast driven by money and profit above all else for the majority of investors who have no personal/emotional ties to a particular company. Chasing high stock value can work for some companies, heck some are based on it - but often as not it can be a false setup that works in the short term, but can leave a company in a very unstable position long term.

If memory serves, GW receives decent investment by things like Pension funds - those not given to high risk, high yield, instead seeking steady and reliable income.

This drop is likely the Spiv end of the market getting whilst they're at a record high.

Kirby sold his shares to board members. GW wanted shot of him forever and bought him out for £20 million.

Update today is about Brexit. If there are issues with trade with Europe how will nerds in Germany get their hands on Cybots and give GW money. Hence the expansion in the States and all the fuss about currency.

As the article I read pointed out, if it was about Brexit, why not say so? In fact, if it's about Brexit why say anything at all? That any U.K. based company trading internationally is currently facing a period of uncertainty is a given.

The timing of the announcement, only weeks after the annual report was published and provided ample opportunity to discuss something as blatantly obvious as Brexit is also questionable.

Even if the announcement is simply about Brexit, the clumsy way it's been handled, and the questions that it's generated because of that, is what's caused the extremely skittish stock exchange to devalue the share price.

I'm sure it's just Brexit though, that Kirby would have advance knowledge of something which prompted him to sell his shares, despite being no longer actively engaged in running the company would be insider trading, and I'm sure he'd never do that.

Interestingly gw's trading statement said sales are ahead of the same period last year. Last year was gw's best year ever so things can't be going too badly.

Sales are up, but they’re expecting profits to be down. I’m sure it must be due to the massive investment they are making to expand their production capacity and warehouse space. That kind of expansion does not come cheap.

GW has done a lot right the last few years - credit where credit is due.

I haven't bought anything from them in ages but am seriously considering picking up that new Night Goblin warband they just released. I can't believe it's only $30 for 10 gobbos when the last Night Goblin they released (a single shaman) was $35.

Hell - if they finally ever release a proper unit of plastic squig herds/squig hoppers I might even go back to my long dreamt-about Night Gobbo army of the late aughts.

It's GW HQ chatter. Not going to say specifically who. Should be checkable by the share holdings of other board members, which they'll have to declare at some point in the reporting. Kev certainly has a bunch more shares.

Ideally they'd have done the warning and then bought Kirby out and saved themselves 2 mill in the process, but that would have been pretty illegal.

Have I got good news for you......

You can get a taste of what they look like in the Night Gobbo Shadespire warband.

I think the other thing to bear in mind is that GW are very keen to avoid the bubble type affect that they went through during the LOTR movie/game time.

New 40k and kits/codices have obviously driven a lot of the recent sales : we all know this release rate will slow down again -- space left for a joke about actual # of new xenos minis here -- but the market will not care that we'll "only" see .. 2 or 3 codices/army books next year.

They intentionally put the brakes on, this makes them less palatable to the very worst 'investors'. Smart move. Slows growth and diminishes expectation in the market while they're still harvesting from a productive summer.

It dissuades big share movement, it encourages me to buy more shares, if it comes down a bit more.
