I have collected for now around 10k pts of marines, approximately 2 battle Company and half of the devastator Company. I'm quite happy with the result, although I feel like i'm at the point, where to decide to continue or not. I dont yet own any primaris marines, but they could be inspiring addittion.

Honestly I'd say keep going with the modest steps as you get what you like and have fun. It sounds like you build in bits adding to the collection as you go. I think trying to give it a bigger structure overall - ergo a Chapter - is a nice idea and you can certainly write up a chapter collection list and keep it in mind when adding bits, but I'd honestly say stick to smaller blocks.

Just keep adding as you are, I think its all you really need if you're still buying, building, painting marines and having fun along the way.

Hey guys, I updated a photo Into my gallery, Picture has my 2 and half companies, still heavily under construction. Most of them are missing arms and bases, which should not be a problem to acquire. The Picture also does not Show my ravenwing, deathwing, armoury and characters. Anyway, i'll keep adding photos while progressing.

Nay, don't shoot for a full chapter of Dark Angels.

Yay, do build some Primaris Dark Angels to add to your forces for the purposes of diversity and if you like painting Dark Angels. Or just start an all-Primaris Dark Angels force. Or do a true-scale Dark Angels force using Primaris Marines.

My point is, if you want to paint Dark Angels, do that. But don't set yourself insane goals.

Technically, as Dark Angels mainta8n close ties with all of its succesor chapters, so to make a "full" DA ay would mean making full armies for all the successor chapters.

They're still separate chapters. It's just the successor chapter masters report (secretly) to Azrael. But the chapters are organisationally clearly delineated still.

It's only a couple of leaps of logic further on from there and you're deciding to collect the entire military forces of the Imperium.

Yeah! Like if you have Roboute Guilliman in your army you might as well starting buying up literally trillions of Guardsmen

One way that the whole chapter could "see the table" in a sense is that you could play normal sized games, but treat all in-game casualties as real casualties, that must be replaced/reinforced from your existing reserves! The dead models are dead until you've cycled through the whole chapter. Of course, by the time you've done that, good luck remembering where ou left that first unlucky squad of tacticals...

50k points is nowhere near enough for chapter though. That's about 30 thunderhawks. That might be enough for transport purposes. Add in transporters and then some for aerial support usage...Then spartans, falchions etc super heavies and just on those you will come tons of points.

Companies 2-9 will be easily over 20k. 4-5k for 1st company before land raiders(another 4k easily if not more).

150k points and about 250 feet wide board as a minimum would be better quess.
