Didn't see anyone mention it, but (now semi-retired?) rumormonger extraordinaire 75Hastings69 said this back in 2016 after plastic Ahriman was released:

“Looks good, I’m looking forward to seeing Magnus, Angron, Mortarion, Russ & Guilliman now

He's hit on three of five so far. So while his list might not have covered every primarch in the works (Fulgrim?), I think it's a good bet that Russ arrives next and/or soonish on the loyalist side.

He's probably right looking at what we now know. Russ is easily the safest bet for loyalists from this point, as is Angron and Fulgrim for traitors. Be interesting to see! Russ is going to HURT in melee!

I'd be in for a nice Xenos "Primarch".

Maybe a new big Harlequin Model (like the Avatar of Caine for CW, or the Yncarne for the Ynnari).
I know, that the Xenos are no priority of the running release cycle (or edition), but it would be a nice move nontheless.
Otherwise I would be down for a nice Fulgrim Daemon-Primarch and an impressive Leman Were-Russ Viking Guy.

I'd much rather see the concept of a "Prime-Ork" dropped into a black hole...

As fort he actual Primarchs, there are only four we can probably rule out - Ferrus Manus, Sanguinius, Horus Lupercal and Konrad Curze.

Alpharius, Omegon and Dorn fall into a grey area where there are stories of their deaths, but the body never appears on screen.

All the rest are fair game at some point.

I'd expect Fulgrim and Angron (probably in that order) as the next two Chaos Primarchs, and I do think the Lion and the Wolf are the most likely for the Imperials. I have no idea which order GW will go with, though.

I don't care who comes back as long as they don't retcon anyone who is dead/ very likely dead.

So on the dead list

Kurze, Horus, Sang, Fenrus (dead). Likely dead, Dorn

Sang especially, if they bring him back I'm pretty much done.

I collect SW and if they made Russ a big werewolf I wouldn't buy it, I'd use the 30k model, I don't even use Wulfen, I use normal marines for their rules, plus their models are horrifically bad. There are enough cool monster daemon Primarchs, making Russ a werewolf would be GW totally missing the mark, though they often do that lol

I’d like to venture it’s a given we’ll see Fulgrim and Angry Ron at some point. Fulgrim next year (well, 2019), and possibly Angry Ron then as well.

As for Loyalist? I honestly don’t know.

I can see the Dark Angels taking The Rock into Imperium Nihilus, which could be the catalyst for The Lion getting out of bed at long last. That’d give both halves their supreme leader

Stuck in the snow.

I was looking through Lexicanum the other day and I noticed that there were references added recently to some of the Primarch pages which (while I don't own the actual books to verify) seems to imply that GW is prepared to bring most of the not dead ones back.

  • Perturabo himself coordinated a massive offensive against heavily defended worlds in the Segmentum Obscurus post the 13th Black Crusade. (8e CSM codex)

  • Lorgar ended his exile at the formation of the Great Rift and has been seen at the head of a massive Word Bearers force (8e CSM codex)

  • Corax
    Spoiler:
has apparently been mutated by the warp into a creature "made of darkness and shadows" and is seen hunting the Word Bearers on Sicarius (their new daemonic homeworld), gets into a fight with Lorgar who took a hiatus from his exile?, and then swears to hunt Lorgar down now that he "has his scent". No idea when this occurs but it is definitely after the heresy.
(this is spoilers for 'Shadows of the Past' from the "Sons of the Emperor" anthology)

  • The 8e Space Marine codex re-mentions Jaghatai Khan having been lost in the webway. (I'm not sure what the context of the mention is since I haven't bought the codex yet, but I'd say that it doesn't hurt for GW to mention him)

  • Magnus is mentioned as knowing where Leman Russ is post-disappearance. (this information is suspect though since it's cited as being from "A Thousand Sons" which is a Heresy era novel. I figure it still is worth mentioning since the citation number could just be wrong)

  • With all of that in mind I'd say it wouldn't be totally impossible to see Perturabo, Lorgar, Corax, or Jaghatai sometime in the distant future. Vulkan is a possibility as well since we now know he can't die...
Rogal Dorn and Alpharius/Omegon are kinda up in the air since there's no confirmation that who if any of them are dead. (except that time Dorn shredded the hell out of Alpharius)

My personal guess is that we'll see the next Imperial Primarch in either part 2 or 3 of Vigilus (just like Gathering Storm...) and it will be either be The Lion (he's currently the most available of his brothers) or Dorn (based mainly on peoples' speculation about GW releasing the IF Primaris upgrade).
Just a gut feeling, but I can't picture Russ showing up to Vigilus. Also of the three, IF and it's successors have committed the most troops to the campaign over both the DA and SW.

I don't really care which Primarch they bring back, this is just a speculation thread after all.

What if Abaddon goes full Daemon Prince with the Vigilus campaign? Giving us Chaos players a generic "Daemon Primarch" to run with our Undivided armies?

Nah, he would rather have a whole in the head than become a daemon prince, I'd rather see him go to Molech and make the same deal as Horus. Also he needs to be human, all warmasters would be, as they need to be the leader of the chaos forces in the materium, so he can't exactly lead when he has to constantly go back to the warp. Leading the forces is a daily task.

A fully amped-up Abby with Primarch-sized model and suitable rules would certainly be OK by me. He would basically function as Horus in all but name.

By the same token, they could release a suped-up Sanguinor for BA players so that we have our Primarch-equivalent without actually undermining Dante or Sangiunius's sacrifice.

For Chaos Primarchs, I think Fulgrim will be next. For Imps, it has to be either the Lion or the Wolf.

He won't be next by any means, but the Custodes codex makes it painfully obvious that they want an option to bring back Valdor.

I would enjoy that, as personally I'm not really taken by his horus heresy model and would like to see another take on him.

That being the case I'll echo thw thoughts of many and say that the obvious primarchs for the loyalists will be Russ (I think he'll be the next one for no particular reason) and the Lion.

And for Chaos of course Fulgrim (who I think will hopefullly coincide with a big 2019 Slaanesh revamp) and Angron.

More controversial is that I think Abbaddon will be a “count as” primarch for Chaos undivided, and that Lorgar, Perturabo etc arent terribly likely to he produced any time soon.

I also suspect that the blood angels will get a “count as” primarch with the sanguinor. And that other Primarchs after him lthat would pull from the regular spacemarine codex aren't likely. Which is sad as I really want a Dorn model.

But its at that point when all the current astartes factions have a primarch or equivalent that me might see Valdor, and maybe even a remote possibility of a primarch equivalent for the grey knights.

I might have a biased point of view, but I think the vigilus campaign is good step to the reappearance of the Lion. There's some Dark Angels mumbo jumbo going on in vigilus, and the arrival of a massive fallen army with Luther could force him out of his retreat.

Crossing my fingers for The Lion, but my guess is that it will be another Chaos Daemon Primarch. With all of the new Slaanesh models that came out with Wrath & Rapture as well as the new Noise Marine, it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was Fulgrim.

Yeah on the account of him being headless and more dead than sanginius. MAybe Omegeon but very unlikely Alpha legion aren't that popular.

Seeing russ get a 40k model would be interesting.

More like boost the price from 50$ to 100$ to buy him.

I’m not a fan of the idea of bringing back any of the dead Primarchs, but I could accept it if GW tells a good enough story.

Star Wars bringing back Darth Maul was really stupid but they did some good stories with him in the clone wars cartoon so I could forgive the stupidity if not forget it.

Who I want as the next primarch released goes to something novembermike said earlier. My wish list is headed by a dual release of Demonic Fulgrim and Clone Fulgrim from the Bile novels, it’ll never happen but that’s what I’d like.

I want Demonic Fulgrim to have guilliman on the ropes in a one on one fight only for clone Fulgrim to intervene and save Guilliman. Lots to explore like how can you ever trust the clone of a traitor Primarch, even if he’s loyal now he’s already fallen to chaos once. Plus his connection to Bile and the necrons doesn’t exactly improve his credibility. It would introduce a third element maybe loyal but not trusted or directly supported by the imperium, you can have some factions in the imperium helping him whilst others are trying to take him down.

A conversation between both Fulgrims would be very interesting. Can’t see it happening but it’d be cool.

Can someone Do a head count on both sides of all 18 and last known information?

Russ, into chaos. Last seen 13 company during that campain.
    Khan, web way.
Lion, awaken from stasis in the rock.
Raven guy, hunting chaos like russ?
    Salamanders, unknown?

We know necrons have 1 in stasis.

Alpharius and Omega. One suposebly dead, the other is at large.

The rest.... Dead or on a demon world?

The ext once should finish up the chaos quartet.

Loyalists should get either lion or russ and progress the storyline for those 2. The resy are a bit bland, they do not even have their own codex. (Rip blood angels.)

Russ could do some reading of the bones psykick tricks.

I do not know if the lion had any psykick powers?

Khan would be fun if he teamed up with some harlequieens to fight chaos.
