That rust does look good. Seems a shame to replace it - before you paint over it with another colour, maybe you could try changing the skin up a bit to contrast more (in the picture the greyish tones don't stand out that much), maybe a more pink tone or possibly a pale skin with a blue or green wash. Could be all that model needs. Also, some brighter metal chipping around some prominent areas could add a bit more definition to the metals

The crows are coming on nicely too. I wasn't that sold on them when they were released but seeing them here is changing my mind on them, maybe I'll get them if I ever finish the starter set (it's an awful lot of plastic isn't it!)

Thanks guys.

I've already done the green layer I'm afraid. The result looks good in my opinion. You can still see some rust through it I think. I will add some chipping later, good tip.

Sorry for the shaky photos though, will take beter ones later.

In hindsight, yellow could also be a cool color for them. Iron Golems, Iron Wariors... hmm. I think I could easily do it over the green, might add some cool effect.

Also got another crow done. I'm happy with how the actual crow turned out.

The corvus are what got me into the warcry craze. At first the iron golems seemed dull to me but I'm really warming up to them. Might consider buying a second box of golems to do some converting.

That's all for now folks, thanks for dropping in.

Thank you.

I took a break for a couple of days but managed to get this golem started just now. I wanted to give yellow a try and I think this is the way to go.

So here's another tiny update!

Very dark picture I'm afraid, but it is late. Need to work on getting pictures right soon.

Shoot. I missed the green. That looked pretty good, as does the latest crow. The yellow works. Combined with the mask, it really makes him look like some barbaric deep-sea diver.

The crows are very nice Flapjack.

Thanks guys.

Made some progress on the golems today. I've been distracted by video games a lot lately. But that's about to change. I've been to Crisis this weekend, a big hobby Con in antwerp and invested in a new project. Test of honour. The second edition hit shelves recently and I've enjoyed playing first ed a lot. Picked up some terrain for it as well and a bunch of perry metals. The warlord plastic sets were ok, but fidly as hell.

With that being said, here are the Golems.

Just need to add some tufts and that's that. Thinking of adding some blood spatter and a decapitated human head to the back of the big guy though.

Nothing to show on the test of honour project yet, will start as soon as I can on it.

Dear readers, thanks for visiting.

Looking good. A head on the base could be cool. Like it fell out of the helmet he's holding.

That sounds better than what I was going to do. I'm going with that, thanks.

Also made a start on the feudal japan project. I have three hoises laying around from warbases.com, not really a japanese range but these will work. Got the first one assembled and planning a trip to get some black primer spray.

Also started on this guy, came with the second edition set.

And that's all for tonight folks.

Cool Japanese models, that house looks like it could pass as a Japanese house with the right paint job. The high contrast style is looking pretty cool so far, intrigued where it’s going

You are all too kind

So I finished painting the unarmoured samurai.

Except for basing ofcourse, as usual. I'm fairly happy with this guy. Tried to give him a faded orange cloak and it turned out good in my opinion.

Also started on the building, but not much to show yet. Started with the tiles. Painting and highlighting hundreds of tiles individually... Sweet Emperor what have I done....

So many roof tiles. So many...

Thanks!

I finally finished the first of three houses. Took a lot longer than I anticipated. The two others are a bit larger then this one so I believe I will paint up a few miniatures in between to cool off.

I might have rushed things along here and there, but at least it's done.

That's all, cheers for stopping by.

Whoah.

Two more? That's dedication. Imagine how awesome it will be to have all three on the table, though. Gonna be sweet.

That would be a lot of tiles...

(The pattern on the floor with the white dots is sweet)

Hi there.

Painting anything bigger then a 28mm infantry miniature is not really my thing. Cavalry, tanks, terrain... I'd rather do infantry. But I'm still glad it's finished and it looks good in my opinion.

Was considering painting the smaller floor tiles red or green but decided against it, that would make everything too busy i thought.

I did finnish another samurai and started on some ashigaru bowmen.

This one was a bit rushed to be fair. Wanted to try something brighter then the last one but I'm not entiraly sold on it. In the future I'll tone it down a bit until I'm confident I can do patterns on the robes.

Early progress though. I'm continuing where I left off from last edition of TOH. painted this sergeant a while ago and was fairly happy with the colour scheme.

The green does vary a bit, don't know how I did it last time though.

I need to write down paint recipes more often.

Wow, the feudal Japan stuff is very interesting. This is a part of the hobby that I haven’t seen much of. You did an excellent job on the house, especially the wood textures and the roof tiles. I’m looking forward to seeing where you take this project.

Thanks guys.

I painted up some ashigaru next. Three spearmen and three bowmen. There's just one musketman and a samurai to paint, then repeat this for the second clan and we'll be able to play our first game.

On to the pics. Note, basing left to do. Also need to do their multibases.

That's all for now. Hopefully the next update will not be so far off.

Thanks for visiting!

I'm a bit late, but a happy new year to you all!

The intention was to finish the core of the first warband in 2019 but the festivities took up more time than I had hoped. With the completion of the handgunner and the armoured samurai, only the basing is left to do. Trust me, I'll get there.

Their footwear could use a touch up. The sashimo (banner) on the samurai is very simplistic I confess. Freehand is not something I feel confident doing. It's basic but effective in my opinion.

I also tried fiddling around with the pictures so they'd be a bit more clear. After spending about two minutes on it I realized a smartphone camera will never be an adequate tool for the job.

That's the first entry for 2020. I hope the pictures don't hurt your eyes.

Cheers!

Really like that samurai. Colorful without being too much. The back banner is good, too. Simple and effective is a good way to go on something like that.

Thanks!

I hope I can show you some more complex patterns in the future. In the meantime I'll get some practice in. I'll get there eventually.

Got all the painted dudes based, here's a groupshot.

Sad to say that's all I've got to show. Stay tuned for the next miniscule update, folks!

Thanks guys!

I'm happy with the bases myself. Basing always gets put off with me so I'm just glad I finally got to it.

In the meantime I started on the core of the second clan but there's really nothing to show yet. I did get some good work in on a Reaper miniatures pirate. Still work in progress though but I like where it's going if I may say so.

The area around the eyes need some more work though. He has a sort of blank look at the moment. There's no eyebrows sculpted so drawing them on right will be a fun task...
