This is a great idea, my pledge is as follows:
1. Finish painting all the Vanguard Marines from the Shadowspear Boxset
2. Build and paint the Dark Talon I ordered off EBay
3. No other purchases except paint to complete the above projects as needed
4. Duration of pledge: 40 Days (No purchases until May 22)

Im still doing ok.
I feel i will have to invest in a KR case at the end of the month though because my current storage & transport solution to games has cost my beloved eldrad to get a bit mangled.

Still going strong. Been joining events/campaigns that have kept the painting going well too.

I have kept selling things I'm not going to use and have made a decision on my one 2019 exception.

As High Elves were my first army in 5th I will waive the no minis in 2019 plan if they release Tyrion/Teclis' army and nail it.

Yeah that KR case is calling me... I cant let for my precious plastic to get damaged after all the work I put in on the paint jobs. Gotta wait it out till payday. Plus need to start selling my shadowspear stuff to make the money for it.

So, it's now the first of May, and I passed my challenge of 40 days with flying colours. How are the rest of you doing with yours?

Well.... I have bought a KR multicase case because my models were getting wrecked whilst getting ferried across to and fro my local club for games, so it was a necessasity. Having to pass a million roundabouts doesnt help as stuff gets swished around the car.

When my eldrad got mangledpretty bad I almost punched the guy I was about to play when he cheerfully said 'whats the hold up'. Even though he was a sweetheart and obviously wanted to play the game and done absolutely no wrong!! But man was I foggin angry at the situation lol. So it was a bit of a necessasity rather than a case of "but I waaaan eeeeet".

Still, have not bought anything since the bonesinger debacle model wise. I need to go back and check when that was as Im re-setting my 40 days from that point. I have managed to sell one of the sealed shadowspear copies I had lying around at a tidy profit after they went oop so there is that!

Well I looked back and I got the bonesinger bundle on the 4th of April. So by my calculations my 40 day embargo will end next weekend. And then here I come shadow specters!!

As of May 1st, I hadn't spent any more money, just kept on selling off various odds and ends.

I made a new years resolution to not buy any new models.

I gave myself the caveat of sanguinius, and I also broke the res to buy abaddon.

What I have done instead though is replace it with buying many items from egghead miniatures which sells individual forge world parts and made a load of conversions, so I've kind of failed.

however I have sold off or given away all the models I no longer want/need or will never get around to paint so my model footprint has decreased overall.

Purchase:paint ratio of 1:4 came close, but no cigar (bought 3 models, painted 9)
Otherwise I didn't start anything that wasn't in some stage of completion, but it also meant I didn't start anything on my list after League of Assassins. I ended up with more painted than when I started, but I simply didn't get as much as I wanted done

Well I made it through the 40 days. Next purchase is going to be a WD for someone else in my group who is out of town on vacation...so technically it is not a purchase for me either.

Apart from the dominion spearhead no new models. And those are already mostly painted(rest got held up by lack of paint...Grumble grumble).

Didn’t do great but made progress. Cut out way more than I added at least and more importantly got a good gauge on how far back new purchases really set me to stick with it.

Not that you need anyone saying whats ok or not but I dont think that would invalidate the challange perosnaly if you got a paint or two or a brush etc. if you realy need it, especialy if its holding up a project.

Oh it wasn't so much that I wouldn't be willing to buy paints etc...problem was inability. First it would have required spending ~12 euro's to get to the store for 1 single frigging bottle. Soon after that it would require that AND do that drive in car while sick. That's why those got stuck in. I had no paint and no real way to get them fast without adding up shipping fees or car drive fees.

Was rather annoying. and it was just ONE paint but that one paint literally stopped me 100% continuing necrons as it was 100% essential. I could not do other parts of models for example. Oh no. All I could do was work on bases...

(my necrons paint way: Over black primer dark metal all over. Then silver in zenith highlight. Then transparent blue all over. Now we have metallic blue necron and THEN can go work on details. Any details painted before blue would likely be lost. And I was lacking that silver...Without it the blue would look way too dark and dull)

This is a great idea for a thread. For me, it is definitely about unpainted models right now, my backlog has exploded in the past few years as I started buying models for Dungeons and Dragons, which pretty much means ANY fantasy mini has a use. I need to pare it back, so I am gonna put a halt on any purchases that are not paints or modelling related. I am not that into modelling so I don't forsee it being a problem of me transferring my spending to there.

Not yet. I'm building up to them and also waiting for the contrast paints. I'm looking to do the white over gray spray on the armour

I think it should work well on them. Im actually quite intimidated by building and painting those. I have finished my Autarch and almost finished with painting my wraiths though. Next is more troops :/..

I have totes failed the challenge again...sadly.. Ended up picking up a night spinner/prism on sprues and a squad of reapers on the cheap... *sigh*

And starting again... now!

This post inspired me to dig through my den, found 2 Custodies bikes, 9 GSC Neophytes, and Imperial Guard Officer, and 2 sets of AdMech terrain.

All went to a good home at my local club.

Currently done with 40k purchases. Would buy Fantasy if I can get it at a good price.
