I love the weathering - you've struck an excellent balance between over-done and subtle, I can see your dudes camped out in filth for months, and that landraider punching through endless enemy lines, but nothing feels like it detracts from the sharper angluar details of the models. Fantastic work!

I know it's supposed to be a war zone... but from a strictly visual perspective I think you need some contrast of color on that board. It all just kind-of blends in a bit too much to make the figures stand out properly.

Just one suggestion - the Landraider feels like it should be a centerpiece, but doesn't have as much going on as the rest. Maybe you could paint that side hatch with hazard stripes to break up the metal on the side?

Thanks for the input fellas there will indeed be more contrast and colour added to the main board Gits, do not despair I was just getting a feel for how things sit (or don't lol)

I really appreciate the comments about the balance of weathering and choices i've made to this point with them, I feel it's a balance i'm mostly getting correct and I might do the raider hatches as mentioned but I just love the metal weathering and am being selfish by not wanting to cover it up :-)

Oh that's such a nice offer! I would probably want to get a zillion of them myself to make trenchworks like you and also to put individual bits for painting. I'm not sure if you have such a quantity.

Just imagine, a darkly lit corridor, flickering globes sporadically illuminating a scene of grim carnage, not only what looks like aeons of dust and mud caking the walls but the barely recognizable corpses of bodies not simply killed, but brutally demolished into paste smeared into liquefied puddles, black blood and viscera running like morbid artwork. a heavy footfall and the metal on metal thud echoes down the hall like the hand of a god bringing down a mountain.

In the distance through the haze of dust 10 small red pale orbs appear, swaying slightly as they approach, unwavering as sparks from overhead wires touch and hiss illuminating what is marching implacably towards you. a globe explodes giving you a clear look at the brutality that roots you to the spot, cowering, hyperventilating and soiling yourself any attempt at making yourself as small as possible is futile as 5 Tyrant Siege terminators from the mighty 4th Legion Iron Warriors march forward, not even bothering to turn his head one of them flicks a mighty wrist and crushes your body against wall and mighty fist.

Wanted to take a minute and a few looks, but I agree the spartan could use some break up for the metals (as wonderful as the are). Some black panels and more decals (also weathered up) would really punch it up another level.

Those bikes are sweet models, and excellently painted too. I take it the board needs more work as the colour doesn’t match the bases yet? I have aspirations to build a board for each of my collections, but I need to get a few more minis up to standard first. Plenty of inspiration here!

Iron Circle! are beastly looking models finished these two guys up today and they should act as a rather large deterrent to anyone after my Warsmith. I wanted the 'hazard stripe' to be insinuated by the darkness of the iron as the 'black' offset with the yellow, so I played a little with how dark they are and added a nice bit of gore to one as if he's used the huge hydraulics to absolutely piston some poor fool into the ground!

Those are all very cool Nerdy. Nicely done. The monochrome works for me.

Did you headswap them with the mini knights?

Yep, I used the face plates from the Armiger knights

Hey guys, I painted up my version/conversion of Kyr Vhalen from the Iron Warriors 77th I'm not sure about his head yet his face is pictured as disfigured on the left side with a missing eye and heavy scarring and this was the closest I had but I'm considering just doing another more normal one? other than that I'm pretty happy with how he looks I really like the servo arm in yellow and will probably do this across any other models that have one Also I am aware he should have a volkite pistol but I didn't have one so a bolt pistol is there until I can get one.

The yellow arm really does a lot for him, I see the leg getting the black chevrons or hazard lines?

Cheers guys, the model is the Legion Previan body with a techmarine backpack and other arms and I used the face plates from the Iron Circle as his shoulder pads and I think it's Kharn the betrayer's head but i'm not 100%

Hey if it's not too presumptuous, would you mind sharing your process for painting your iron warriors? After I finish up my mechanicum, I plan on starting IW, and I love how weathered your paint scheme is.

The armiger knight headswaps are great!

Also the metal generally, very nice and weathered and sorta rusty looking.

I would second this! My heresy Iron Warriors are only in the building stage, but I know my first step will be leadbelcher spray/basecoat drybrush, and after that the world of different weathering options really opens up. Kind of intimidating!
