I regret not getting the Aquila Strongpoint; re-reading Taros campaign, realising that it would be perfect for the missile silo and bunker missions, only to be gutted to find it had been quietly discontinued

Regret buying: I would call this a tie between the 2 warhounds (which never left the box) or getting in on the raging heroes TGG kickstarter, adding a bunch of addons (all of which never left the box).

Regret buying in pewter: no question, thunderfire cannon. What an epic pain in the ass. The converse of this is the Ork Nob with Waaagh Banner, which I explicitly looked for in pewter when it was released in Finecast - I love the weight of it when holding it, even if it tends to fall over and break the banner.

Regret not buying: unquestionably the FW Ork Battle Fortress. Even after scratchbuilding an arguably better one, I still long in my heart for it.

It just occurred to me I could probably design and 3D print a pretty good facsimile, though...

Regretted: Three drop pods, three death company dreadnoughts, and 30 death company.

Why you ask? To use with Angels Blade, a month before 8th came out and invalidated the entire experience. Now, no one wants these models...and neither do I, heh.

Regretted NOT buying? Renegade. I've been a knight fanboy since they launched and I missed BOTH times GW released this.

The longer I game, the more my forces evolve to being almost completely made up of Core or Troops choices.

Yeah, me too. For me it's honestly a personal preference thing, i'm not too worried about competitive or not, i just like the basic troops a lot more!

I realized that i hadn't put down something i regretted not buying... i don't have too many regrets in those regards but i do regret never getting into battlefleet gothic way back in the day.

I regret not buying most of the kill team stuff. I had all these plans of which sets to grab when. Then boom, out of stock, no refreshes.

As a military brat (who still continued to move often after college - as did my family) I more or less regret losing some old stuff. I'm jealous of stuff people have in their parents' attics etc. My family ditches everything we don't need when we move. So over the past 20-25 years all of my childhood stuff disappeared. Things like Warhammer Quest (the original, good one), Battlemasters, Hero Quest, etc. All that stuff that is nostalgic gold and still fun to play.

A lot of stuff I regret buying, especially several years ago when I was talked into trying a lot of other games, which ultimately went nowhere locally. Stuff like Infinity, Dystopian Wars, Warmachine. I bought big on a lot of these, only to wind up with stuff that only saw the table once or twice before everybody dropped it and moved on. More recently, it's been the Horus Heresy boxed games and Necromunda. It looks ace and great deals, but nobody really plays it, so again stuck with quite a bit of stuff that never sees any play.

One thing I regret not buying is the Solar Auxilia medicae set, it's always been outside of my budget, as gorgeous as those models were, but are now sadly discontinued. Another one would be Hasslefree's most recent KS, where they did these gorgeous Artemis models, but alas, outside of my budget when it ran.

It fit in very well with the look and feel of the 2nd edition metal necron miniatures. I look for one all the time on ebay and have googled myself crazy trying to see if the guy/somebody might be selling, without success.

Oh God! I've never heard of anyone else getting those! Is it the one where the front pincers have a gauss rifle look-alike for one of each pincer? God, that was like 20 years ago, lol. I use mine as Tomb Spyders.

On other things, I regret buying the Sedition Wars Kickstarter. The first instance of restic on the market, and boy, do those take forever to clean mold likes from. Also the actual game was really underwhelming, but I was cought up in the insanity, and the kickstarter ended the night before my wedding!

This is in my vaguely regret buying category. I still dream of painting it, but right after its release GW eased up the restrictions on running Armigers, which dulled a lot of my need for a 3 knight lance. I still run it on occasion, but I struggle to get it painted.

My first dive into 40k I bought without direction and ended up with a lot I didn't like or ever finished. I wish I had a better idea of what it was I wanted before I had just jumped right in.

What I regretted never buying?

Regret buying - everything.

I mean I enjoy painting, but in hindsight I should have just bought individual models I wanted to paint, and just stuck to board games.

Right now I just sort of keep at it hoping it will become "fun" again.

I somewhat regret selling everything. Some of the armies I'm kind of glad that I'm getting a do over with, but there were lots of others that would work well with my current retrogaming, and is going to cost far more than I'd like to replace.

Yep! You nailed it. Here's a picture of one:

Closest alternative I've found is Rebel Minis 15mm scale mech that is somewhat along the same lines but still just not the same:

This was my feeling also... I thought they would be in stock for a few months.. but kill team stuff seems to be one and done... Kill zones on Ebay are crazy.. you would think GW would see
this and do a simple reprint.. I know a number of people including myself that would pick up sector munitorum at retail price.

As for regret purchase, I see stuff everyday I want...

but I think my regret is the opposite.. I spent a bunch off money on limited edition rule books only to have the rules thrown out a few years later.. now they are just dust collectors.

I feel for you man.
I always say to people getting into he hobby to follow your inner geek child and buy the awesome models you will enjoy looking at/modelling and painting. Rules change. Cool models you like will always be cool models you like.

I do regret not hoarding up a sizeable High Elf WHFB army back in the day instead of giving up and selling all my stuff for pittance beer money..

I think a lesson from me and others echoing the same sentiment has been learned; don't be too eager to sell off collections/painted models. Nobody wants a big pile of shame but at the same time its a hobby that you might take a break from and return to. Its nice to break stuff out to enjoy every now and then.

Mostly I just regret buying things like new games/new lines to paint that I still to this day - years later - haven't even touched. I bought a smattering of models from the first KD Kickstarter for example - all of which still sit in a box. That didn't stop me somehow from pledging for more in round 2. :(

I don't really regret not buying anything so much as I regret how much the "buy now buy now extremely limited edition" mentality has taken over the mini world. Such abusive crap to pull with your customers.

I regret not buying more storage space!

I'm seriously considering picking a few extra hours at work so I can rent a room on the cheap side of town for use as my 'gaming dungeon'.

Miniature wise I regret not buying more empire free company kits. Don't get me wrong; I must have bought half a dozen boxes at least! I just love their simple charm and versatility, despite their whacky proportions and chunkiness. This is especially true as I'm on a bit of a Mordheim kick at the moment!

I regret buying many kits, mostly for failed conversion, like Land Raider or Sisters of the Thorn. I made it a mess and then sold it for cheap.

I can't think of anything that I regret never buying. Maybe some Kickstarter minis, but they surely weren't that important.

In 40k terms, more of the excellent Cities of Death building range, didn't buy more than two as they take a while to paint so didn't want a stack of boxes.

and then they were gone

overall though, the one I regret the most.

At the moment it would be really un-diplomatic of me to order the Warcry starter set. I think I will regret it though, if it's a one-off thing like the Kill Team starter...

Ebay already has the sets parted out at huge markups. I'm hoping to catch just the terrain at a reasonable price. I love the look of those ruins.

Ouch
I have no idea why my parents kept mine (literally in the attic). Maybe they knew the games had such a good and fun influence they kept them out of nostalgia.
Still got crossbows and catapults, axis and allies original, risk original, heroquest + expansions, battlemasters and 40k 2nd ed box.
Space Crusade got lost however :(
