Yeh. Even have it be purchasable as a Fortification would be nice, with the ability to use it like a building for cover and it having some nice firepower for its cost.

yeah I actually joked about a Primaris droppod that was just like that but the more I think of it the more I like the idea, of a droppod that double as a small pre-fabricated fortification.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

One hesitates to use the term but it 's been deemed not that great a model to actually play with compared to , say, a repulsor.

Gotta disagree, that guaranteed alpha strike is a phenomenal ability.

I found them almost necessary during 6th and they were certainly popular during 7th. Imo they're baller now with the deep striking turn 1, imo.

With the term play I mean in a more literal sense -- ie to physically use. A repulsor -- or whatever -- one moves/shoots/ assaults etc etc with.

Once the pod is down it, literally, just sits there.
Yes it does have some minor shooting but that's largely inconsequential isn't it ?

I suspect that we will eventually see a Primaris pod model -- and wouldn't be too surprised if it has an alternate build to show/allow dreadnoughts/similar to deploy from it as well.

I know wwaayy back when the model was first released initially it was able to carry 12 models -- for a bout 1 codex or so -- the main marine one IIRC -- which had been a rules/tactical decision from the codex writer -- which was disapproved of immediately by management as both the model and the background had it carrying only 10 men.

.. 5th edition codex possibly ?

5th edition codex is indeed 12 infantry, 1 dreadnought or -- oddly --1 thunderfire cannon -- which I did not recall.

I knew never throwing anything away would eventually be useful.

Next marine codex was -- I believe the Space Wolf one 9 first one with the T.wolf cavalry ) -- and it drops down to 10 infantry or 1 dreadnought.

I remember the Thunderfire Cannon, but for the life of me I cannot figure out a reason to ever do so.

Ahh, gotcha.

Well earlier on one was able to use them more as cover iirc, but the rules these days are less conducive to that. Same with LOS blocking in general. But I've occasionally deployed them as movement blocking walls. These days the rules are awkwardly generous for that, with the doors explicitly counting as part of the model. The optional missile launcher was sometimes pretty useful, if short ranged. Nowadys it's junk, sadly.

Yeah, 12 models in 5th edition. They could still transport Terminators (likewise in 4th) as well.

And They Shall Not Fit Through Doors!!!
